Possible Tucson/SW Meet?

I've been wanting to do a meet & greet and was too sick for the one last November, and even sicker for the one last April. So, in case I can't make it or get the time off I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in a pre-April (Sedona) meet in March here in Tucson?

I was thinking of meeting up at Purple Heart Park in the Rita Ranch area of Tucson, AZ initially on the 8th or 9th of March, 2008. My idea (before we commit to anything) is to get together around 9:00AM to 11:00AM at the park with a reserved Ramada and have a picnic lunch. From there either head south down to Madera Canyon to Greaterville area for a longer drive, or head North up to the Mt. Lemmon or Reddington pass area (not all the way around) for nice pleasant drive that won't take as long. We could also go down the other side of Mt. Lemmon if enough people were interested and if we left early enough. A full round trip like that could easily take eight hours.

No takers, or interest?

I'm thinking of inviting some people from a site I go to, that is predominantly 2005 and up Toyota Tacoma owners with a few Nissan Frontiers thrown in for good measure.

Sundays work best for me since I work Saturdays. If it's a Sunday, I'm in!

When a firm date/time are announced X-Brawn, I'll be sure to pass the word to our ROC friends up here that don't log on as frequently....

If you need a list of AZ ROC Members, email me.

I've been having some health issues (again) recently, but that does not stop me from wanting to have a small mini-meet. It sounds like the best day would be Sunday, on the 9th of March. As long as I can get the time off (if I'm not included in the latest Citi layoffs), I'd be willing to reserve the ramada.

But, I need to get more people who'd be committed to coming, or doing it, and once we have enough people then we could possibly discuss the best route to go? Even if not enough people respond here, as long as we have a group of five vehicles it would be worth it.

Now, my question is this. Would it be best to be a full day event (around eight hours), or maybe a half day event (four to six hours, including a drive)? Is a 10:00AM start time a good start?

The plan is to meet up at the part with food, do a picnic type lunch/brunch (and maybe a sort of potluck) then go to where we want too.

I would be interested in a March Tucson M & G. We live in Oro Valley but will be gone first week of March. Sundays are best.:o

If things are firmed up, I will consider a trip down for the day.

I will be in Las Vegas a few days before, and I plan on going to the So Cal meet the weekend of the 15th.

So, X-Brawn, if there looks like a good turnout and it is a definite, I will pass the word to those of us up north.

Okay.

Right now I'm out of work (AGAIN!) due to some health problems. I might be able to do it, but considering what is going on now it might be a stretch. I still want to do a meet and as long as things work out it still would be on the 9th of March or before the BIG April meet that I'll likely miss again due to health (and money). If all else fails, I'd just do something after April but before it gets too hot. I REALLY would like to meet some of you even if I have to host my own event/meet!

What I'd have in mind, even if the time and dates get changed, is a meet at a small park in Tucson and do a picnic brunch/lunch. From there we'd take one of several trips I know like up-and-over Mt. Lemmon, Reddington Pass, or even do something else. At the end of the trip, we'd all find a nice place to eat for dinner (like a restaurant) and then go from there. What I have in mind would likely be an all day event and would use up close to a tank of gas. I've done similar trips and know how long they would take. Reddington Pass would be about six hours to go around the Catalina Mountains and we'd "end" in Oro Valley for they day.

I wouldn't mind meeting some fellow Rideliners down south, especially since I can't make it to the Sedona meet in April. Pencil me in and keep me informed of the time and place.
