Truckin' 01-06-2008, 11:17 AM Bliss53 and his family (from NH) are coming to Utah to ski the Greatest Snow on Earth. They'll be staying in the Valley to ski Powder Mountain and Snowbasin. He wants to rent a Ridge, but I fear that won't be an option. To reduce his separation anxiety, let's get together and show him our trucks! Be a good ambassador from Utah and let's give them a warm, ROC welcome!
On Sat. the 19th we will gather at 8:30 AM at Jeremiah's Restaurant in Ogden for their famous breakfast menu, voted 'Best Breakfast in Northern Utah' for over a decade running now.
There is a little construction still going on under the freeway bridge immediately to the west of Jeremiah's. Watch for the narrow road and lane shift if you come off I-15 or from 1900 West. The barricades end just as you get to the Best Western and Jeremiah's.

Please email me at TruckinROC@mac.com to let me know if you can attend. We'll exchange cell phone numbers at that time. I need a head count to give them that morning before we show up. I'll call them about 8 AM, so get in touch with me before then. There are two wing dining areas that can handle larger groups if we can get that many assembled to need the extra room. I'd at least like to aim for needing the round table on the porch.
The hostess will know that we are the ROC or the truck club if you arrive a few minutes late.
Try to be on time so we can get adequate seating and so that you are eligible for the Early Bird breakfast special that ends at 9 AM. It's a huge, all you can eat meal for $5.99: eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage, and your choice of a pancake (I'd like to see someone eat more than one!), biscuits and gravy, or scones. They have expresso coffee drinks and many other tasty choices on the menu. Checks are no longer accepted, so bring a debit or credit card or cash.
Truckin' 01-06-2008, 02:20 PM You can see in the photo that there's a U-shaped drive around the restaurant building. Let's park on the south end of the building if possible. Jeremiah's is very popular and its busy-ness fluctuates a great deal depending on what's in town on that particular weekend. They have a large, indoor waiting area, but even with that improvement, it's not unheard of for there to be a line outside. We'll get there early and with a good head count they will seat us as soon as they can, so just make your way in and ask for our group.
I hope we can get our trucks parked together, but we might need to move them after breakfast for the obligatory photos. We can use that field where the semi is parked in the photo if it isn't muddy, or we can move next door to the credit union. They should have an empty lot on Sat.
We'll leave it up to a group vote whether to go on a drive after breakfast. We can always shoot up to the Valley. Middle Fork should be closed with opportunities to see elk and/or turkeys. We could go to Causey or Sourdough (only to the parking area around the cabin) or just drive over Trapper's loop.
Bring your FRS radios if you have them and your camera.
Idaho and Wyoming residents nearby are invited to join us too! Ruffles?
bliss53 01-09-2008, 03:21 PM Nobody loves me :(
Party of 2...Looking forward to it. Pam, you should have my number in your email archives. Bliss, you are in for a treat....we got dumped on today -- 2 feet of snow thus far and more on the way.
Truckin' 01-09-2008, 10:19 PM Yippee Guss! I'm looking forward to meeting you. I didn't get your email, so I can send you my number. I have a phone number for you but I don't have your email address for some reason.
I still have a list of people to call who are not ROC members. I'll get on that this weekend. I've heard from a couple of other people sending regrets that they can't make it on this date.
Anyone else ready to come to breakfast with us? Let me know.
Bliss, have you convinced your family to come?
bliss53 01-10-2008, 05:51 AM Truckin,
I looks like my wife and youngest daugther will join me. They have not stopped picking on my ROC "nerdness" since my first ROC meet in CT back in July of 2005. Now they can behold the "nerdness" first hand.
Bliss,
Don't feel bad...my wife doesn't quite comprehend my fascination with the ROC either, but she does enjoy all the accessories I put in HER truck. Btw, how old is your daughter...I have a 13 year old daughter who I may be able to persuade to come along...might be a stretch though, that early in the morn.
Guss
bliss53 01-10-2008, 10:56 AM Guss,
My daughter is 15. Hope your daughter can make it. I have been thinking of relocating to the Ogden area and my daughter could get a perspective from a some one close to her age.
Truckin' 01-10-2008, 07:17 PM I heard from another local that he'll be joining us too. I hope you can get your daughter up early, Guss.
Truckin' 01-13-2008, 09:54 PM I called all the locals I have collected phone numbers for over the last couple of years. I had to leave messages with some but talked to several. Some had prior plans and expressed regret. I have two or three maybe-s and it will be great if they can make it. A couple sounded quite enthusiastic about a meet in better weather.
I'm looking forward to next Sat. There's still plenty of time to say you're coming. I'm not calling with a headcount until 8 AM Sat. morning. :D
Truckin' 01-14-2008, 05:23 PM :D Bump. I have prizes for those who attend! :D
 Ken Garff Honda of Ogden donated some cool stuff.
Prizes!!!! Alright!
BTW, if anyone has an extra blue Matchbox Ridgeline to sell, I'd really be interested.
Truckin' 01-16-2008, 10:08 PM Bump, come on, commit. It's going to be fun! :D
FLA-Vyk 01-17-2008, 07:12 AM As a former resident of Utah, look forward to seeing photos. BLISS I will be in Whorcester Mass visiting my son during March. Maybe some of the Northeast group and I can get together while I am there.
Truckin' 01-17-2008, 07:16 PM  With me there? Probably won't be any pictures taken. . .
Still to be determined if we'll be doing a drive. We'll decide Sat. Our weather hasn't been too conducive to outside photos, but good for people who want to ski.
Truckin' 01-18-2008, 09:55 AM Bump, it's in the morning. Is anyone else coming?
Truckin' 01-18-2008, 03:40 PM :D We had a pleasant surprise today: The temperature climbed to the low thirties so we decided to get the Ridge washed. Now she'll be pretty at tomorrow's meet. :D
LOOKIN' GOOD! Hopefully can have mine lookin perty for the meet and greet...of course, more snow on the way come Sunday
Truckin' 01-18-2008, 04:23 PM Won't be as short lived as our spiffing up for the Sedona meets. We hit those red dirt roads right after eating and get all of them messed up good.
We tagged two more today but didn't get a chance to invite either owners to breakfast. I'm not holding my breath on anyone I called showing up since I haven't heard back from any of them. But there's still time to tag on if you're undecided. I'll be calling Jeremiah's with the headcount about 8 AM. I'm sure we'll head that way about then too and get there a few minutes early.
bliss53 01-19-2008, 08:04 AM I am on my way down the canyon in one minute.
5S Dude 01-19-2008, 09:46 AM Sorry we couldn’t make it for breakfast guys but we’re hoping to have big hugs ready for Sedona this year! Have a great time together and a safe drive in that snowy weather.
What a great time we had this morning. Bliss and his family were a nice bunch to talk to! Great gifts courtesy of Ken Garff Honda...thanks Truckin' for the time and effort you put into this mini-meet...AND THANKS FOR THE MATCHBOX BLUE RIDGE!!! Hope we can make Sedona happen because it would be FUN!
Truckin' 01-19-2008, 02:25 PM Sorry we couldn’t make it for breakfast guys but we’re hoping to have big hugs ready for Sedona this year! Have a great time together and a safe drive in that snowy weather.
We held a place at the table for you and Cindy too! :p
It was a lot of fun. We've done our best to let Peter (Bliss53), Sally and Nena know that Ogden is a fun and friendly town. When they move out west, here or elsewhere, we intend to stay in touch. We made new local friends with Steve and Roxy. I think we have them convinced they can't miss Sedona this year! It's good to see Nathan again and have more time to visit. We are all ready for a drive or two once some better weather comes along.
I have photos. I'm going to head to my big computer to get them posted.
bliss53 01-19-2008, 05:05 PM Just got off the slopes. A very awesome day. ROC buddies in the AM and ski buddies in the PM. Thanks to Truckin and all that attended. The prizes were a very nice surprise (My wife is haveing tea in our new honda cup right now) and fun was had by all.
Peter, Sally and Nena
PS Utah scones = fried dough. UMMM good breakfast food.
Truckin' 01-19-2008, 05:47 PM ;) Confession time: I took a nap. I got chilled to the bone today and that tapped into fatigue from not sleeping well last night. Now I'm ready to work on photos. ;)
