If so, we are working on finalizing our official hotel, group rates, etc. and should have that online sometime in the next few days.

We're not going to. We looking at a place in Zanesfield that's only a couple of miles from East Liberty.
http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42015

We want a place that can handle a big group, and isn't about to tell us to keep the noise down after 10 pm....
Also they have to have trailer hookups, as well as regular tent sites....

But, we need to wait until Tom finalizes the Hotel arrangements first - we would prefer if everyone is in the hotel (for at least 1 night) during the Event.

Where else could a bunch of Element owners go to find a bunch of Ridgeline's to drool over? :D

I think the only way that will happen is if we (all of Tom's children :D ) take over the entire campground.

Picture this, a nice quiet camp ground... Sun sets... Suddenly the street lights go out... Then, in the distance, getting closer and closer... Ridgelines and Elements appear through the mist taking over the camp ground... Elements by street, Ridgelines by trails...  :D

Whatever you do.... DON'T TOUCH THE FIRE RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

In a campground there would be one major difference between the Ridgeline and Element owners.

The Ridgeline owners would tow their campers to the campground.

Since the Element can't tow much the Element owners would be towing their Element to the campground.

OK, I'll let up. Just some friendly ribbing to our friends at EOC.

This is not a competition. It will be one, big, fun group. Just making sure everyone realizes it is not a competition.

Also, the Ridgeline does a much better job of holding cold drinks. The Element *is not* waterproof. You cannot hose it out, contrary to what some people think/say. Yes, we've heard stories of people trying it and finding out the hard way.

Anyhoo...I'm looking forward to everyone getting together for the first time.

A few of us were dubiously pegged as the Misfits at our First (Official) National Meet...
But we had a previous meet (plus a few mini-meets in between) a year before in Gettysburg...
So the National was like a big reunion for many of us, and we spent the better part of the weekend in the parking lot....:D

Vegas was last year for us, and St Louis the year before, and Columbus the year before that...

I have no idea what is planned for this year, but if it's even close to what we had, then this is a once in a lifetime trip for many ppl - bear in mind that Honda does not open up their assembly plants for tours to just anyone!
They also laid on a luncheon with alot of the top designers, and timed the finale to correspond with the end/start on the shifts, so both shifts of employees could take part in the BBQ/tailgate party...

As most of you already know, Honda is a great family to belong to....

Just an FYI... I voted Yes on both sites since I am on both sites. :)

Before anyone decides not to come to this National Meet wait until we post all of the details about the weekend. There are things here that you can't do anywhere else...including Las Vegas!

Tom and I decided to combine the National Meets for this year so we can have one really big National Meet and see how it goes. It's a way for us to get everyone together, plus it is much easier to organize a single large meet vs. 2 large meets.

We think everyone will really like what we have planned.

Now as to the "competition" between the ROC and EOC... How about we have a goal of 100+ Elements and 100+ Ridgelines at one place? How cool would that be? I bet there are quite a few Elements that the Ridge owners will be drooling over just as there are many Ridge's that the E owners will be drooling over. If anyone wants to see what will be a very drool worthy E... go check this thread (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42063) on the EOC by Honda Ghandi and his 391 hp 421 tq Element running E85! :)

I enjoy the Ridgeline meets for the other Ridgeline owners. Now I'm not saying I wouldn't like Element owners but I really have no interest in the Element. No offense to those that have them. They're just not "my" thing. I enjoy the conversation based around the vehicle I drive. So for that matter, we could have a Ridgeline - Smart Car meet if it's only about meeting people...
Much like why I'm not a member of the EOC and I am a member of the ROC... :D
If I can some how make it to this meet, it wouldn't mean anything to me if there were 100 Elements there but I would be stoked if there were 50 Ridgelines... Just my 2 cents here guys (and girls). :D

Or think of it this way....Go to the dual meets and let the E owners drool over the Ridge. When I went to Civic meets, they were dominated with Si's.... hardly the same vehicle, but still related. The E is a smaller off-road cousin of the Ridge, therefor related.

They share the same manufacturer but I see little more. To me it would be like meeting any and all Honda owners. Although we share a liking for the Honda brand, thats the extent of it. At the same time, I would much rather a co meet with Ford Ranger owners for comparison discussions. It makes more sense to me. I understand the motivation for the joint meet and fully support that but for me personally, having the EOC there is not an attraction to me. And again, it has absolutely nothing against the EOCers, rather my motivation for the meet is the same as the ROC to me. Ridgelines and their owners.

I'm not knocking anyone, so don't take this the wrong way, but the fundamental difference seems to be that we, as Element owners, are initially drawn together as a group of ppl who love our unique vehicles, and attend meets to socialize with like minded ppl. It's not just about the vehicle, it's the ppl.
Sure we're drawn together by the vehicle, but the friendships that have developed are far stronger than that. We have ppl who will fly half way across the country to attend a car meet, and leave their cars at home!

We don't have to discuss it - it's a given...:p
Although you American's always seem to ask us Canadians to bring beer, and we are happy to, since you can only handle 2 or 3, leaving all the rest for us....:D

Besides - microbreweries are not big here, since alcohol has to be sold thru Liquor and beer stores, so you can go to almost any beer store (all gov't run) and get almost any (real) beer you want - http://www.thebeerstore.ca/
Liquor stores sell alot of foreign beers too so we can pick up almost anything, almost anywhere. But we pay $$ for the privilege...

Wine, on the other hand is different - Wineries can sell their own wines, and their best is distributed thru Liquor stores as well...

Trust me, I have ZERO ill will towards Element owners. Really. I have a lot in common with a lot of Ford F-150 owners as well. But again, the commonality that brings me to the ROC and it's meets are the Honda Ridgeline. On March 8th if my schedule allows, I will drive the 3 plus hours out to Albany NY to meet up with maybe only 3 other ROCers instead of the 1 hour drive to the Cape to meet 30 EOCers. Is it because I don't like you guys (and girls)? Absolutely not! It's the truck, 100% for me. Can you show me any mods you've done and give me tips on how to do it to my own truck? Can you share what you've done to improve gas mileage on you Ridgeline? Again, if I just want to meet people, I can do that anywhere.

EOCers, you all seem like a great bunch. I really mean that. You don't have any convincing to do. I'm in it for the Ridgeline. And the people who share Ridgeline ownership. Thats all it is for me. Sorry :o

Come on Al, don't be so pessimistic.
It's entirely possible that, given 3 more years, they may have the numbers to rival what we have now. If you consider membership, EOC - 24,344, ROC - 12,170 then, statistically, we should have twice as many attendees anyway...

Of course, in 3 more years, who's to say we still won't have twice as many members...

Of course, in 3 more years, who's to say we still won't have twice as many members...

Of course the rate you EOCers are joining the ROC, I'm sure we'll pass EOC membership by the end of the month...;)

As long as the base price for a Ridgeline remains substantially higher than the base price for an Element, I'd say EOC will always have more members than ROC.

Does anybody else see "EOC" as "EEOC" & start wondering when the EOC guys are going to file vehicle discrimination lawsuits? :D

Is it just me or does the Element look like a toaster on wheels? Since it's a Honda I'm sure it's a great vehicle. I guess it falls into the category of: different strokes for different folks. I wasn't real crazy about the looks of my RL when I first got it but it kind of grows on you. Now I think it looks cool! Maybe that's the way the Element owners view there cars. JMO

JMOWhen I was replacing my '99 Accord, I drove the Element. I liked it. The back seat flat/fold/lock up and out of the way/pull out is genius. I'd rather have an Element over a Ridgeline if I lived in a city, that's for sure. When I drive my Ridge in NYC, it's a moderate nightmare.... those cabs come WAY too close for comfort.

Well maybe I should go drive one. I really don't think I would ever buy one but I'm not against getting more educated and at least looking (inside) at one. They say that beauty is only skin deep. Just ask my wife - she certainly didn't marry me for my good looks. Why would you rather drive the Element in NYC? I understand the cab situation (I watch CashCab on Discovery every night). Do you feel the Element is safer and/or more maneuverable in those tight situations? Just curious...

Thanks for the feedback.

I would prefer the interior space over a car, plus parking spaces become bigger (more wiggle room) in a smaller vehicle :D

The E is deffinately a love it or hate it vehicle. I am on my second one and ho no regrets about buying them. I get decent fuel mileage for the size that it is. Take one out for a test drive....you have nothing to lose.

go to nationals I am sure we can convert you to an E
I also have to say that the look of the car grew on me. I test drove one for mom who also has one in red. When they told me that the tranny was going in my 98 accord I went with the e. I have never had so much fun with a car/truck.

The only beef I have with Honda regarding the Element is the skylight. They are in the back. If that was a traditionally placed moonroof, I would be so much closer to an Element

I am not the only one in agreement with you on the roof. For me it is totally useless. I rarely open mine and in 5 years of ownership only ever removed it twice. If it couldn't have been placed up front it should have been made an option like side airbags were in 2003-2004. Some of us on the US jokingly refered to it as a dog gas vent since the only one that travels in the back of my E is my golden retreiver.....and he does get some nasty gas.

If I ma not mistaken it is only there to equal out the weight on the AWD being that the moonroof is only on the awd Elements.

Now I have to say that if you open the moonroof and crack the windows you have a nice breeze and saves on the AC usage.

what I also have had happen is a friends son rides in the back and the second meet he went to he looks up and goes "oh there is a sun roof back here" I laughed and said yup from day one. You didn't notice it the last time you were back there?

I have to admit, I like the Ridge! Plush in comparison to my E. What I did not like was the fuel millage numbers. Having had several trucks over the years, I know about things like the cost per mile figures. Just the tires alone, I can put 2 sets on an E for the same price as one set on the Ridge. Now that I'm retired, I want to spend that money on going places. Not on gas and tires. If I were still working, and still doing house renovations, I would be in a Ridgeline. As you will see, as time passes, needs change. Life is about choices.

For me it's not all about the car/truck, It's about the people.

I can't wait to meet all of the Ridgline people, and take a look at the trucks. This is going to be a blast!

In most cases larger vehicles use more gas and have larger tires!!
If you will read some of the threads you will find that some of us are pleased with the MPG and the OEM tires. BTW, thanks for the "plush" statement!!

LOL I'm more than Aware of that! Like I stated above I have had several Trucks. I loved having them at the time. They served me well, With the Exception of my last Ford F-250. I hated that truck. I could have had 2 Ridgelines for what it cost me in repairs alone. The diesel was nice though.

I would love to have a Ridge with the new Honda diesel in it. If they produce it I will have to take another look at the Ridgeline. I Love the comfort it offers.

News Brief
Honda Takes Cue From DogCars.com
Thursday, Mar 13, 2008 5:00 AM ET
HONDA'S AGENCY, RPA, TOOK A recommendation its client got for its Element car from a dog lover's Web site and turned it into an ad. Now the agency is running the spot online on a variety of canine-related Web properties.
In December, DogCars.com named the Honda Element "DogCar of the Year." The agency responded with an ad, "Pointer," targeting 18- to-49-year-old males with an active, outdoor mindset.

The spots depict Element's functionality from the perspective of a dog owner.

The ads started this month on cable shows like "Dog Town" and "Science of Dogs" on the National Geographic Channel, "Purina Dog Challenge" on ESPN2 and "Rob and Big," an MTV show about a bulldog named Meaty.

This week, the agency created banner ads and online video versions of the spot on Google's 95 dog-centric Web sites, including dogbreedz.com, pamperedpuppy.com and pugvillage.com. The ads also appear on YouTube 15 seconds into dog-related videos.
