We have found a couple of great places to stay for the meet, but the best rated hotel that also has the most space and can accomodate all of us is $116 per night. This includes breakfast, wi-fi, a manager's reception each night (drinks) and they are willing to hook up hoses, etc. for us. Plus, this is in the "nice" part of Columbus with access to great dining and shopping and a straight shot to our destinations for Friday/Saturday. If $116 sounds high, understand that this place has a regular rate of over 200 on weekends.
Oh, they said they would also rope off part of the parking lot so we could park in an area together. And they have a large indoor atrium area for gathering and hanging out into the morning hours. :)
The next best solution is to find two cheaper hotels that are side-by-side where we can split rooms between the hotels. These places will be further into the city and are not as highly rated and, while they get okay reviews, we're not sure what we're getting yet. They'd be priced in the $55-60 range.
To me, the best option is to go with the $116 per night. Does anyone disagree? Thoughts??
Ultimately, we'll go with what we think is best but I'm always interested in getting input from the membership. Thanks!
EDIT: Julie just reminded me that the $116 hotel are suite rooms so you could maybe even share rooms with someone else.

$116 for the best rated hotel in Columbus is fine by me. Close to attractions and dinner choices is also a plus.

Since my wife will be coming along, she votes for the fancy hotel. :)

Just to clarify..this may not be the best in all of Columbus. I mean that it's the best hotel we are even considering.
It's actually in Dublin too, so it's more Northwest.

Not the Drury. :) They did not have enough rooms but they were our first choice for many reasons.

The Dury is the greatest, there is one on the northwest side (closer to Honda I think). Any chance of another motel close to Dury's for both to handle the crowds? Dury's had a great rate for us in St Louis!! $116 per night an I am sure plus taxes is going to be quite a hit for 3 nights, could be in he range of $400. Us retired guys may have to give that one a lot of thought!!
the $116 place sounds great... they are providing wash facilities and roping off parking... that's just above and beyond! plus the weekend rate is about half price... I mean come on already!

I'm a rookie at this but, for what it's worth, I'll put in my 2 cents. $116 sounds quite reasonable to me with all that they are willing to do to accomodate such a potentially large group. :D

To put this into perspective, back in '06, motel rooms for the Cape May Meet went for $120/night. Of course we're talking about a beach resort and semi-off season rates, but it was only a motel room.

If Carl brings his plastic pool again, we could all hang out "by the water". ;)
Okay.... it sounds like the overwhelming majority are in for the good hotel and that's fantastic. This will be a great place with lots of room for us to spread out.
Thanks all!

$116.00/day is a little on the steep side but with all the things that they are
willing to do for us and the fact that they can accomodate all of us, I cast my
"vote" for them.

Good morning all! If my wife and I decide to go to the meet, the $116.00 rate is good with us. I am a chief engineer at a large hotel in WNY and to say $116.00 is to steep would be a lie, the majority of hotels are now charging in the range of $150.00 to $300.00 per night, even Red Roof(sleep cheap) is not cheap anymore.
