Should my '08 RTX have come with a pigtail for the trailer brake wiring?
Thanks

If you are talking about the pigtail that you attach to the brake controller and plugs in under the dash-my 07 RTX came with one, so I would think your 08 would also come withone.

The RTX's are supposed to be tow ready from the factory which includes the wiring pigtail and the receiver slide in deal that you put the ball on. If you didn't get these things, check with your dealer. All that stuff on mine was in a box inside the trunk.

I'm pretty sure I got one with my 08...I'll have to double check, but I think it came in a small box...

ok, I called the dealer and talked to the guy I bought the truck from (who really doesn't know much about the trucks), and came back to me and said that they wanted me to bring the truck to them to check it out, but they couldn't tell me why:eek:

My '07 RTX came with a small box in the trunk. It contained: draw bar, pin and clip, Honda rubber hitch cover, and the pigtail harness. I had to buy the ball.

I'm pretty sure that's what came with mine as well...

So did my "07 RTX. It should be in a cardboard box in the trunk.

that's what I thought. Does anyone know the part number? Could someone take a picture of the pig tail for me?
Thanks

I did not get any of this with my '08. How do I prove it to the dealer now 5 months after purchase?

Tell them it is not uncommon. I just checked my box. It's missing too. RTX is only 2 weeks old.

I think it's already built into the harness in the back of the '08. I'm not sure? Only had my Ridgeline for a week now.

I think it's already built into the harness in the back of the '08. .

It's not, the harness is an adapter for a brake controller that plugs in under the dash

Thanks for the info. I am going to call my salesman and tell him that I don't have one in the box and see what he says. Because I checked it out today and it's not there. He knows he still owes me the ball for the hitch, so he might as well put the pigtail in!!

My 08 RTX came with the same.

I found the one that came with the Honda Hitch Wiring Kit for my RTL. The Part Number is: 08L91-SJC-1000. Grey Connector (Dash End) on one end with four wires in a black plastic sheath about 12 inches long. Here is the color code of the four wire as marked on it:

White / Black with Silver Bands is labeled: STOP
Blue is labled: +BATT
Brown / White is labeled: BRAKE
Black is labeled: GRD

The parts label also states "Assembled in Mexico" and has JUAREZ MEXICO on the label... So it appears the Ridgeline is a true NAFTA child....

I don't think the ball was included with the RTX

I have not had the need to tow but are you guys saying the plug and flat connector are not wired or hot? I assumed all I need to do was buy a ball and it was ready to go.

Since you have a RTX the only thing you may need to do is buy and install an aftermarket electronic brake controller. You only need to do this if your trailer has its own electric brakes. The pigtail referenced above is then used to connect the electric brake controller wiring harness to the factory wiring in your RTX...

I'm quoting myself,

I called the dealer, and they also said they needed to see the truck. We looked at another RTX in the lot.

Did you know they stuff the harness into the ball hitch pipe?

Guess what? Mine was stuffed into the ball hitch too. :o

Ooops. My bad.

They stuff the harness into the ball hitch tube

Who would think to look in there?

To keep the harness clip from getting beat up!

Thanks RedLdr1. I was wondering what the wiring was all about thats not terminated at one end. Thus far, I will be towing small trailers that do not have brakes.....but it could come in handy later.

I have the 08 RTL and planing to install the hitch that didn't come with it. there is a pigtail in the back bumper and i was hopeing that this may be part of the harness for towing? do you know what that thing is?
