Itinerary: SoCal ROC Meet 2008

Ridgegal, can get advance ticketing to the aquarium.
whom ever are interested in doing The Aquarium of The Pacific: ticket cost are
Adults: $14.95
Kids 3-11: $10.50

whom ever is interested of going, we can get an advance ticket, we need to do a head count and see how many would like to do the Aquarium first and go from there.

I think I messed up on the poll. I thought I was voting no on the aquarium not the meet. We will be at the meet, but will pass on the aquarium.

Not a problem Dan, We know you'll be there. We're just trying to get a head count to see who wanted to go into the aquarium, and the Yes or No poll is to get a head count who will attend.

The headcount for the aquarium is anyone who's interested in going, Ridgegal(kelly) can purchase the tickets in advance for a cheaper price, than buying it there. If you're interested, post your poll and post here how many tickets you will be needing. Kelly can then purchase the amount of tickets in advance.

Anyone got any recommendations for a reasonable hotel nearby? You know, nice neighborhood, not too far from the meet? I'll check the web but doesn't hurt to get some local feedback ;)

I am about 95% certain I will be there. I want to research the info on the Aquarium before committing to that. I am just looking forward to hangin' with the So Cal gang again for the third straight year.

I will be bringing the kids, but my wife won't be making the trip due to work obligations. :( So she sends her regrets in advance!

I'd like to hear more about what else we would (or could) do. Not much use fo the two way radios if we are hangin' at the aquarium! Let's ride!!:D

I think the its good to have the radio's, according to tony, there's lots to do there, and some are interested in going to the aquarium and others may decide to head to Queen Mary area...which is down the street. We then could meet for lunch and ask tony to be our tour guide.

Queen Mary is cool. Stayed there quite some time ago, and would make for great photo ops! I even checked for room availability there but no luck:(

With respect to the aquarium, I am 50/50. I know the kids will enjoy it, but I don't want it to take up the whole day. I am only going to be there for two days, and will probably spend Sunday taking the kids to things like that (museum or something).

So, you So Cal ROCheads....I would like to see a big turnout again! I'm coming out to see you guys so don't disappoint!

Sorry I have not been so active on this meet this year. I have some extra matters that have taken up my time.

Here's the game plan. I will be arriving at the parking structure, to be identified later, and parked on the roof waiting for the group to arrive. I am planning to bring with me bagels, cream cheese, OJ and coffee with sugar and cream.

The meet date and time is Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 0900 in the Long Beach Pike Area. That is off E. Shoreline Drive and Bay Street. I will update the parking structure location next week but it is in that general vicinity.

Here is a break down of activities....

1. Meet time: 0900-1030 hours roof of the parking structure

2. Exploration: 1030- 1230 hours, Aquarium, Shoreline Village, Game Works, Pine Street.

3. Meet back at the trucks at 1300 hours for a coastal caravan. Going to drive from Long Beach into San Pedro, into Rancho Palo Verde, into Torrance then back to where we started, bring your talkabouts (ch. 6) and cameras folks!

4. Pick a place to have dinner together then call it a great fun day with My ROC Family!


If anyone has anything they would like to add or contribute to this list of activities, don't be shy! :)

Everyone contact a SoCal ROC'er that they know or have not seen in a long while and of course all newbies are welcome and so is the EOC!

After the Sedona Meet, I will be busy doing what I do! Think about a weekend game at Dodger Stadium with the ROC!

So guys and gals, let's get the word out and try and have a memorable turnout this year.

Use the Aquarium address to get there...I'm not sure which parking Structure (roof) is being reference, but there are a couple of parking structures to choose from, the aquarium address will get you to the structures.

Something to consider...there is parking which runs "behind" the aquarium that is by the water, this may be a good outdoor place to choose to take any photos in case we run into problems with the parking roof.

Well, I've finally booked my room and will be bringing my two little ones! :eek: So I will be there!! Regrettably the wife is not making this one due to work obligations.

Don't worry about the aquarium part, tony has planned out a great plan for the whole day, bring your 2way radio so we don't loose anyone on our way. See you soon Kevin.

Since there is not that much interest in the aquarium, let's cancel the aquarium for another meet and go with Toobuku's (tony's) plan and iteranary for the whole day. What do you all think, and don't forget to bring your radio's so we don't loose anyone on the way to our waypoints :D .

I agree with you Kanji.....I think since there are some coming from afar we should spend most of our time with them.....looking forward to seeing you Kevin.....and hopefully Mike too.

Thanks Kelly.....look forward to coming out again! Mike keeps saying he is coming, but has yet to book a hotel room. I'll keep after him! ;)

I've had good intentions the last three socal meets to get myself and my boy out to meet the socal crew...unfortunately with school and work getting in the way, it hasn't come to fruition.

This time; and specifically in support of meanmachine's query, I will project myself as being an attendee for this meet.

Hope to see you all in Long Beach, or if I get a late start I'll see you down in San Pedro. I'd love to bring the flying machine and fly that golf course but Palos Verdes has an ordinance banning paragliders :(

We have one more week for this meet, so sometime next week we all will be having fun and enjoying the long beach area. Looking forward for some great pics and putting something together similar to what i did for the OC meet ;) Lets get a good turn out and for something for us to remember.

Remember to bring your GMRS 2way radio so we don't loose anyone on the way and our waypoints that Toobuku (tony) has set up. See you all there.

Do we have an address yet, for the exact location that we can enter into our GPS navi to meet up?? I'm just checking..or else i'll just aim my RL to go to the Aquarium and go from there.

I just got in from my weekly Ridgeline detailing/bonding session with my own broken truck but Cindy and I are gonna wash and wax the trailer together right now so maybe I’ll have some time to pm the gang after that. Well, i don't think i will be able to wash my truck, been working late lately and out of town as of now. So Fiona and I will be coming in dirty, well fiona that is will be dirty. Can't wait to see you all and have a little fun.

Hi Ron, I pm'd every SoCal or Cal ROC member in my list about 3 weeks ago. My friend Luanne will be hanging out with us on Saturday. I put the Raider in the shop on Thursday to have the blemishes painted over and should have it back by The Meet time. I will be bringing bagels and creme cheese, coffee, sugar and creme and O.J. that morning. Check the thread tomorrow for the parking location. LESS THAN A WEEK AND COUNTING! :D

Dang...i guess my truck will be the only truck that will be dirty, geez, need to find time to clean her or just come in dirty. Maybe tomorrow, when i get home from San Diego, hopefully, i will have time to clean her and just dust her down when the day comes next week.

Kewl Tony! I’m glad you took care of all the pm’s. I’ve really got to get myself back to the gym as I am completely toasted after detailing the Ridge and our camping trailer all in the same day. The good news is my stabilizer links arrived from FedEx today so I’ll be under my truck again instead of riding dirt-bikes tomorrow. Sorry Luis! I still wanna get out and throw some rocks at each other soon!! I’ll give Miguel and Adrianna a call tomorrow too! :cool:

The link snapped off right at the weld which looks like insufficient penetration. However our truck is three years old and I don’t baby her towing the trailer and traversing the desert with the bikes in the bed every chance we get. The new links appear to have improved welds so they may have addressed the issue. We should be in Long Beach around 9:30/10:00 :cool:

Yes, Sedona will be fun! There's plenty of camping in the area (Check original link in Sedona Meet) that allow tent camping as well as trailers. They even have log cabins!
