On the Element Boards, we have had a couple of members spearheading this effort for a little while now, and this Meet looks like a great time to go for it!
http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42198
Basically, we want to set a record for 'setting of the Guinness Record for the most Hondas driving in a line', and are working with Honda to co-ordinate a Guinness rep to be there and record this for the books, and press coverage.
According to Spotman and T MAC "Guinness states that in a vehicle type record, it will be about the make of the vehicle not the model" and "It's most Honda's"
So if any of you are sitting on the fence, now is a great time to be part of history, and help us all get in the Guinness Book of Records!!

Spotman just reported:
The current record for "Largest parade of Honda cars" is:
A parade of 101 Honda/Acura Integra Type-R cars took place at BeaveRun MotorSports ComPlex, Wampum, Pennsylvania, USA on 12 April 2003 as part of the 2003 Integra Type R Exposition
We're not gonna let a bunch of 'ricers' hold on to that are we guys?!
we're 3/4 of the way there now - we have 52 yes, and 32 maybe, and you have 21 yes, and 26 maybe. If everyone shows, we got it!
I think if we informed the 8thCivic crew (latest generation of Civics), older civics and some Accord clubs, we could cross 700 Hondas... the serious downfall is that none of us would want them around as they are definitely the wrong crowd.... but would unite the EOC & ROC quickly, as the geezer squad!

I'm not sure how many we can accommodate yet. Stay tuned for final details.

no one said we had to accommodate them Tom - just invite them to participate in the Guinness record attempt, and let them go their own way afterwards.... ;)

It would be kinda hard to hide about 50-100 RL's in a parking lot:D

good job Tim, any ideas where the line up will be?
Does Spotman know yet?
With a combo meet we have a good chance.

I'll be talking to Honda again in the next week. We are still working out final details and agenda for the meet. There are only three items that are considered final at this point... (1) the location, (2) the dates and (3) the hotel. The rest is still being worked out but it will be worth the wait. :)

Heck - I've seen this "record" broken daily - just watch all the Honda employee's drive Route 33 to work!
Should be fun - I might even be able to convince the ex-wife, girlfriend, parents (who both drive Hondas) and younger sister to come! (that would be a total of 5 plus my Ridge - wohoo!
FUN!!!! Ok - so how do I drive in this line AND photograph it? Hmmm - I've got a buddy w/ an airplane.... need to work on this. Aerial Photo, anyone?

here's a thought on the Guinness record attempt - I'm certain that Honda must have a large parking lot at one of their Columbus-area facilities - perhaps we could have the gathering at one of them?

they clear out the front lot, right in front of the building for us...
This is at the Marysville assembly plant....

If I could convince my wife to drive down the RL I could drive my Accord and add another too. I could also mention this on one of the Accord boards I frequent (6thgenaccord.com) and I know there's several Accord owners in Ohio that would probably come up, down, and sideways for a day... lol...

They also have an 8 mile oval track. It used to belong to the Ohio department of transportation but was sold to Honda some years ago.
It's the same high speed oval that Road&Track magazine used for all of the Ferrari and Lamborghini top speed tests back in the 80's. :)

Anyone can rent the track. IIRC, it costs something ridiculous like $1000/hr. I may be way low on my guess.
I'd like to take my RL around it a couple of laps. You would easily hit top speed on just one straight section. It is ridiculously huge. I think it's the longest oval track in the US. It also has pretty steeply banked turns.
I forgot to mention that Honda has an offroad proving ground there as well. I'm pretty sure that this is where they put the RL thru most of it's testing. I'd like to take a whack at that as well. I'm sure that neither is going to happen. :(

I never thought of this but your idea has merit.
It depends on how organized this thing is and how many people commit before the actual event happens.
If everyone in both clubs would pitch in something miniscule like $3 for gas for the plane, I would be able to pull this off.
My stepfather has his single and twin engine pilots license. I'm sure that he would do it for the gas money and a bag of Doritos. The flight up from Cincinnati is only like 100 miles as the crow flies. My Mom could take the pics. He has to fly a certain amount of hours every month and is always looking for a reason to get up in the air.
PS. I personally wouldn't get in one of those little wind up Cessnas ever again after experiencing "clear air turbulence." They scare the bejeebers out of me.

Already working on this! I've got a buddy w/ a Cessna 150 that he keeps at Delaware County Airport - all 5-10 min flight time from Marysville - so no worries there. I love flying in that plane - great platform for aerial photography. If the same buddy gets his helicopter built and certified in time, he lives 2 miles down the road from me and it would be a one min flight!
This will be soooo cool!
ChrisM is right - rental of the test track is around $1000 - they also average 1 death a year there. They drive 24/7/356. The son of one of my co-workers used to drive there - many harrowing stories.
Yes - The Rl was tested at the off-road track - Gary Flint confirmed that at the 2006 Ridge Run.
