Light Bar Group Buy

I spoke to a representative today at one of the larger grille guard/brush guard/side step/bull bar companies here in the US of A and asked them about manufacturing a Ridgeline specific light bar similar to the one on the the offroad concept Ridgeline.

They told me that they would consider making said item if I could come up with 50 serious individuals for a group buy.

The price point they gave me for the black powdercoated light bar would be right at $210. I did not get a price for the chrome unit but I suspect it would be right at $300. Shipping is not included but the items would be shipped from California.

I am purposely not including the name of the company right now because they are not a ROC sponsor but trust me, it is a reputable company. Here is a picture of what it would look like.

Again, this is for seriously interested folks. A lot of you have asked for light bars. This is your chance to get one.

Please respond if you are interested.

Hmmmmmm....... I am using all black power coated on my RL. I should be getting my bed's Locker Rails on Friday. I guess I could cut them down...

I don't know. Will it be as low as in the picture, should I be thinking it would cast a shadow due to the length of the cab? I know it's early, but would they grab someone's RL and do some fit testing? I am a definitely, positively, a firm maybe! Need... More... Info... ;)

My opinion is it looks to "Erector Set" like to me... Would rather a solid piece. Just my 2 cents. :D

I agree with Brich. Looks a little funky. I wish I could see it on the Ridge.

how would that design or one similar even work for us? our bed has the contour like the avalanche. It would have to mount further back and would hover over the bed and look ridiculous. It would have to mount and follow the curve of the sides of the bed up alongside the rear window, if that makes sense. Would it be compatible with the roof rack? I'd personally like to see an attachment to the roof rack to utilize lights.

I agree that design is not esthetically pleasing.

Agreed! Now if they could come up with something closer to what was on the All-Terrain Concept that Honda brought to RidgeRun 2007 I'd definitely be interested!

Ah - this one rises above the cab. I would have assumed this would be needed if fixed at the rear of the cab.

And, since the actual design is not set in stone from the manufacturer, we could have them not drill out the holes. If we have a group buy of 50 people, I am sure we can have them make small changes... especially if it involves less work on their part by not having to drill a bunch of holes.

Chris: I say, let's get some more info on possibilities. Of course the normal issues of fit and mounting are still a huge factor on whether this will fly or not. I am keeping my options open at about 30-40% right now with the little info there is. :D

The thing I love about this All-Terrain bar is that it's a clean fit and finish. It just goes with the truck. This metal one looks like an add on. To me I prefer mods that flow and not look like they were slapped on.

The one thing I question with the All-Terrain bar is that it looks hollow on the underside. I'm guessing that would make for some fun wind noise. Of course this is probably just a one off concept.

Something I have never liked about the concept light bar was the way it mounted to the outside of the truck. I am thinking add'l wind noise, water retention and staining similar to side mirrors, etc.

I would rather see one that mounts inside the sills, which is how I am guessing the one in the op mounts.

I had tried half heartedly to come up with a load bar that would mount using the existing tie downs, and mount almost entirely within the sails. I road tested a couple with the rear window open and did not notice excessive wind noise like I expected there might be.

Any chance this one could be made beefy enough to support a light load (e.g., half a canoe or kayak??)

Lose the holes and make sure it's well grounded to the frame and that'd be an excellent mount point for a ham antenna...
