Pittsburgh Mini-Meet

A few of us in the ROC, and from around the Steel City have expressed interest in a "Pittsburgh Chapter" get-together.

We were wondering if there'd be anyone else interested in joining us.

We could use this area for discussion about the "when and where" aspects, as well.

Anyone could join us, if you're up for a trip to da 'BurgH!

Preliminarily, the meet would be somewhere in/around the city, so as to give each of us ample opportunity to attend at our leisure.
We understand that each of us has our own scheduling issues to address, so we'll use this area to try to work them out.

I'd be up for it! Mine's just a plain ol' RL, though. I would, however, make an effort to wash it off first. :D

I would be interested, if we can get enough people. I see more and more RL's everytime I am out and about. Need a place with a nice size lot and good food. Strip district might be an option or maybe Damons up off McNight Rd?

The Strip is a great idea. No parking worries there. And FOOD a'plenty!
It's been awhile since I've visited the original Primanti's location, and the nearby David Lawrence Convention Center always has something going on.
Too bad the "World of Wheels" is this weekend. That venue might have been an interesting place to get together. Gathering at one of those shows could be an option in the future.

In that vein, there's a toy collector's show (http://www.steelcitycon.com/), i.e. Matchbox/Hotwheels cars, Star Wars/Trek, Transformers, Military, Gaming, Comic Book, etc...

early buyer event: 8am-10am (Saturday only)
general admission: 10am-6pm

Sunday March 30, 2008:
general admission: 10am-4pm

Admission would be $10 or less for all day, w/free parking and might be interesting meeting the R2D2 guy, Janet and Terri from 3's Company and Devil's Reject's , and others. ;)

Just a thought, to get the ball rollin'.

The toy show could be interesting. I have two little boys ages 2 and 4 and they would love that.
My freinds and i always used to goto the strip and station square quite a bit for sunday car cruises. Either of these ideas are great and im up for either of them....
The water front could be a fun place to meet also. Those stacks could make a pretty cool background for a picture...

Well... we've got four interested Pitt-ROC'ers... or would we be ROC-burgh'ers?
We should let some ideas steep and brew for awhile...

There's another idea! Y'know... for as long as I've been so close to Pgh... I've NEVER toured one of the breweries!
I've been on the grounds of Pittsburgh Brewing's Iron City for a Blues Festival, but never made it into the actual brewery. :o It's no longer up and running, is it? I never was an IC afficionado, so I haven't kept up on their tales of woe... did they ever end-up paying their H-U-G-E water bill?

But speaking of brews... this could also be as simple as meeting for a few of them whilst passin' the bull. If it only ends-up being a few of us, we could still do at least that much.

Yinz guys ain't opposed to a little moderated libation, are ya? ;)

You are just full of great idea's.. Anytime a few brews are involved you can count me in. No matter what we do im sure us burgher's will have a good time.....

If all goes well we got 4 or 5 great ideas for future pittsburgh chapter meetings...

I just joined ROC now, and I'm from the Burg! Glad I saw this! A mini meet in town or around town would be great!

Just bought my 2009 RTL Ridgeline, Silver/Black...love it!

Nice to see the SWPA contingent is growing in the ROC!

I've noticed ALOT more RL's around the area in the last year, or so.

Hope you're all gettin' killer deals.

The possibilty of me attending a meet in the near future is slim, however. One of my colleagues at work decided to retire suddenly, and left things kinda iffy on the scheduling front. Vacation-granting has been put on hold, and shift assignments have been a week-to-week thing since.

Hopefully, when/if "the new guy" is trained and works-out, things will get back to a more normal (heh! yeah, right!) existence for me.

If anything gets put into the works, post it up! Yinz never know who may show up!
