Friction sway bars and weight distribution

I know that Honda reccomends that weight distribution systems do not be used when pulling trailers. Does that apply to sway bars also? I recently got a small pop up trailer and was talked into a sway bar for the hitch. Good idea?

Sway bars are OK because they don't change the weight distribution on the vehicles. On a small popup with the proper tongue weight, you shouldn't really need one. I tow a 3,500 lb popup without one and it just doesn't have any sway behind the RL. I assume you are referring to a friction sway bar so if you do use it, be very careful on how you adjust it. Having it too tight can cause damage either to your sway bar or trailer tongue. Most sway bar manufacturers recommend that you disconnect it when backing up, which is a real PIA.

Nah, they're easy. I set mine (friction style) not too tight and it's rock solid on interstates and narrow 2 lane twisties. Personally, I think it's smoother having it when passing big rigs and vice-versa......and I don't have to disconnect it when backing up.
