Ok SoCal ROC'ers, here's it is...

We will be meeting in the parking structure, directly across the street from The Aquarium, next to Bubba Gumps Restaurant. I will be on the roof around 0900 on Saturday morning. Meet time is at the usual time 10:00 AM. I will have coffee, juice, bagels, cream cheese, cream and sugar there. We can take in the sites a bit then go for a scenic drive into San Pedro, Palo Verde, Torrance, then back to the Long Beach pike area. We can do dinner then call it a day. I hope we have a good turn out and see old and new friends Saturday. See you then!

I don't recall an East side parking structure Tony. I'm talking about the structure that is just North West of the Aquarium as you exit out the doors, next to Bubba Gumps Restaurant.

Don't tell me about getting lost! You all remember last year's fiasco when I was the one that got caught at the light, and only to find that I was on the wrong radio frequency. Half the group followed me the wrong way!!

I'll be sure to be on the right channel this year, and be a little closer to the front of the pack (say, 2nd! :p ).

Toobuku, you have my cell #. I'll be in Friday afternoon and we can touch base anytime after that!

Just two days to go!

I'm concerned its not gonna be a big turnout as in years past. Are you So Cal guys all 'meeted' out? Just two years ago we had 19 trucks! I hope you have just been to busy to respond but will be there in full force on Saturday morning.

Weather is looking pretty decent....a little cooler and partly cloudy but overall should be nice.

I look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces and some new ones! I'll be leaving early tomorrow (about a 7 hour drive) so I don't know if I'll be back on the site before then.

Toobuku, Twintym, I've got your #s and you've got mine. Call me if anything drastic changes, and I'll call you if I get lost! Or just call and we can hook up for dinner Friday if you want (I'll be in Huntington Beach).

After work, gotta pack, finish cleaning the truck....so much to do, so little time!:D

Been planning on going to this meet from the get-go when it was first posted.

Got back today from camping at Bolsa Chica State Beach for last four days.
I could see from my camping spot the Long Beach harbor and the white dome where the Spruce Goose once was stored and it is real close to the parking structure meeting spot for this meet/greet.

The weather there is/was absolutely outstanding when I left.

Heard some rumors while camping of rain this weekend!
WTH is that about? :o

Haven't heard much about this weekends weather since we got home - anyone know whats up?

If it rains is the meet still a - Go ?

It better be a go!! LOL

Looking at weather.com, it seems like it will be windy later in the day, temps in low 60s. Rain for Sunday but should be good for Saturday (as well as tomorrow for the drive out).

So like Twintym, we'll be there, rain or shine!:D

Seeing as the weather will probably not allow me to fly this weekend I am planning on being there - unless the family throws a wrench in the works. The wife is sick so I might end up having to do kid chauffeur duty on Saturday morning but I will do my best to meet in San Pedro if that happens.

I'm off on Friday and intend to wash and detail the RL unless there is a request to keep it dirty by any other RL owners that will also be driving a dusty/dirty RL and they want company - mine still has the dust on it from a month ago when I went to the Salton Sea.

See you Saturday :D

We were planning to attend as well but I may be able to finally have a CNC machine technician diagnose my machine malfunction if he has free time this Saturday. Sorry I’ve been so down in the dumps lately! With my truck breaking a rear link, my laptop going up in smoke and our CNC machine being inoperable since before Christmas. It’s literally killing me slowly. I haven’t felt depression like this since I was a teenager. Anyhow! Ya all have a great time and like Dan sez “Drive Safe!”

Well, the machine tech and I were able to hook up today and go over my machine problem. He's pretty much confirmed that the damage is every bit as severe as it can possibly get. I’ve now got my laptop fully disassembled and the parts all over the dining room table. Currently in the process of buying a new motherboard/graphics card for the beast and then Cindy sez; you need to get away from all this stress!! We’re going to the SoCal Spring Meet tomorrow so get off yer dead butt, go outside and detail the truck and quit feeling so sorry for yourself. So then I sez……….

Well, another SoCal ROC Spring Meet is in the books and it was a good one. We met and had coffee, juice, bagels with cream cheese and donuts. Mean Machine 19 (Kevin with his son and daughter) Came from Sedona, AZ. Great to finally meet Smroycro and PODO. (11) Ridgelines showed up, (1) Black, (2) Silver, (2) Red, (2) Green, (4) Smurfs! Darn those Smurfs win again! :D

Unknown to me, we needed a city permit to meet where we did and take the few pictures that we took. Mind you, we were on the roof of a multi-level parking structure where no one else was parked but us and we got warned...nicely. So we took our group picture and got the group out of dodge.

We went to lunch in in Ports O'Call, San Pedro, Visited the Korean Bell and Sea Mammal and Bird Rescue Center, Drove along Paseo Del Mar to Trump Golf Course, then into Palo Verde's. I got the group lost when Crenshaw Blvd. dead ended in the hills! (I was thinking of Hawthrone Blvd.) Then back onto Pacific Coast Highway back to Long Beach where we started.

We, (9) of us, went to dinner at Bubba Gumps in Long Beach for Dinner and called it a rap! It was a sunny but cold windy day but other company with each other was very warm. It was a good event. Our Socal ROC photo journalist, (Kanji) will be posting pictures of the event and I may be putting them to music later.

SoCal ROC, start thinking about the following events....
1. Sedona, AZ April 12-14, 2008
2. SoCal ROC at Dodger Stadium TBA
3. SoCal ROC day trip to Santa Maria/Guadalupe, CA for Barbaque

I saw Niq Man on the way home from the meet, he had to work today and hopes to be able to make the next one. A good time was had by all. Even my guest, Luanne had a good time and made some new friends. She really enjoyed hanging out with us.

Chris and Pam, you two are absolutely awesome! We’re so glad to have met the two of you as well.

Tony! Thanks for your undying leadership skills! It was an unforgettable event as usual and I hope your friend Luanne enjoyed our company too.

Anthony, it’s always great to have your photographic expertise at hand! We have still got to hookup and go skiing in your “backyard” one of these days.

Kevin, it was great to see you so far away from home and with both kids in tow!!. You are one great dad! We’ll have to return the favor in Sedona soon.

Greg. Thank you so much for the guided tour! You seemed to know Long Beach like the palm of your hand!!

Kelly! What more can I say! It was totally awesome seeing you healthy again. We’re so glad you made the trip out to the meet! Hugs to you sis.

Joe and Joyce! We’re really happy you both came out to spend the day with us too! Maybe we can go camping together one of these days.

Dan, Pam, and the twins! Thank you both for everything. One more ducky for the dash!! I hope the girls enjoy the steering wheel pedal unit as much as I did.

Miguel and Adrianna, We’re so glad you both made the trip out to the meet & greets! We have got to go get together soon and go dirt bike riding before it gets too hot!!

Finally, I thank each and every one of you for literally lifting my spirits and helping me refocus on the things that are really important to me. Sharing our lives for the day and having fun with our trucks together. Thank you all so much.

One more ducky for the dash!!

Rubber Ducks!!!!!!

Man Ron, you sure got your ducks - all - in - a - row!
You must have all females and one male.

I have been to Three meets and ONLY have Two ducks... :(
I better have a talk with "Dan The Man" (Twintym) about this.

Next time I'll bring my two replica Ruger 9mm soft air bb pistols and we can do some target shooting. ;) ..:D

I love the Pit Crew duck.

It looks like you all had a good time, and I wish I could have made it. But as Toobuku mentioned, I was busy manning a booth at the Long Beach Convention Center. Hope to see you all at a future ROC meet.

Toobuku: The personalized plates really help out, don't they?

Thanks for all the great pictures guys!

Hey Joe! I think the upcoming Sedona meet is worth two duckies and if you make it I’ll pitch in the Pit Crew guy!! How’s that for incentive?

Have a great week everyone!

You talkin' to me?

I was originally responding to Joz Ridg but it goes without saying! You’re always welcome to share the Grand Canyon experience right along side your SoCal brothers and sisters as well Joe! Heck I’d pitch in two more of my treasured duckling if you decide to make that long trek out west!!

They sure did! As soon as I saw you I told my friend Luanne, Hey, he's in our club but he wasn't here today!

Hey Gang! Made it back late yesterday afternoon, and we had a fantastic time seeing our So Cal friends again!

First question to a So Cal ROC member......

On the way to the meet on Saturday morning, I was northbound on the 405 heading to the meeting. I saw a black RL with a ROC sticker, personalized CA plate ( similar to 'netwrkt'). So, I decided to follow it, thinking it was headed to the meet. Fortunately I had my sister's Garmin and followed those directions instead because I never saw that truck again!! (WHO ARE YOU? - LOL)

I was casually late (but not as late as some of you think!) but found you hiding up on the roof!

The weather was better than the forcast prediction, and the drive (after the security harassment) was gorgeous. Now I know why so many people live in CA! :p Just glad I didn't experience an earthquake while I was there! LOL

Of course, my two young ones had a blast (at the expense of Caitlin and Chelsea - thanks girls for putting up with them!). But seriously, my 8 year old daughter has adopted Twintym's twins as her older sisters!

Lunch was fine, but that restaurant manager was a pain, not sitting us all together when there was plenty of room in the back where I sat (not to mention they had a separate room closed off).

I saw a wide range of gas prices in So Cal, ranging from $3.36 to $3.81. So shop around. The lowest I paid in So Cal was $3.38, most was $3.45. Lowest I saw on the trip (there or back) was $3.19 in Wickenberg on the drive back. It was $3.23 in Quartzsite, so you guys from So Cal that are coming to Sedona next month, do not gas up in Blythe!

A couple pics......
I want to thank all of you for making this another great meet and it was a pleasure to hang out again with my So Cal family. I look forward to seeing you all in Sedona and the Grand Canyon!!

Tony does a fantastic job! He made it a great day with a little help from Greg (who played the role of tourguide - thanks Greg). Now if Tony could do a slightly better job next time of controlling the wind.... LOL

Thanks Joe! This was Dylan's third time to the Spring So Cal meet, Erin's second. They enjoy seeing Tony, Dan and the rest of the So Cal family. They can't wait until next month when they come visit us! :p

I'm almost done processing all the pics from RAW format to jpeg. RAW format is similar to a negative film in a roll of films, need to process the picture and make sure the white balance is correct and if the picture is sharp enough for the shot or keep it soft..etc. some of the jpeg's, i'm noticing are at a minimum of 6mb per jpeg. May need to resize some and post. I am putting something together for a great slideshow. Hang in there, i'm almost done.

The other's picture are awesome and may have to borrow a few :D otherwise, its looking pretty good.

How's the hand, Wow...flu right before spring...all I can say, is drink lots of fluids, 2000mg Vitamin C (water soluable vitamin) and get lots of rest. Don't forget to crack a window, so you can circulate some air and not inhaling that sickness back in.

...and don't use Airborne...news quoted a Doc saying it is just very expensive vitamin C...then again, you can get a refund from Airborne for a few purchases even without a receipt...I leave it to those who are interested in this to find the details online!

Hope you feel better soon...

Thanks Steve the caveman LOL. I did hear something about that...but today was a good day! If it permits, hope you can make it to Sedona! I know aside from us, Tony, Ron & Cindy, Dan & Pam, Miguel, Adriana & family, Anthony are already set and just waiting for April.

Any news from Joe, Max and Kelly?
