Just my 2 cents!!!! HAHAHA

I have yet to see an Element owner who does not salivate at my truck while he/she drives that boxy milk truck or postal cart!

At least he didn't bring his nonsense over to this forum while following the other half of the EOC membership that felt compelled to join the ROC. I haven't heard to many RL owners start this kind of squabble about the truck they own. And if they did, they have a right as an owner to put the RL down. This must be a reason why I would want to enjoy an Element meet. We have so much in common...

Lets see... is my RT a truck?

Well it does everything my Toyota truck does... and better.

Is it an SUV? Well it does everything my Toyota SUV does.. and better.

Just because its handling is suberb, with better "feel" than my Rx7... well its not a sports car. But it is more fun to drive, and gets better gas mileage.

One vehicle does it all for me. My Mercedes, my Volvo, my Rx7... all are glowering with jealosy... and increasingly the Toyotas. They hate the RT. :) I may drop some insurance on a few of them next year.

It sits next to my Gold Wing, my Rincon... and my Honda back-up generator. Honda!!

If it quaxks like a duck... etc etc.

I don't really care if it's a truck or a whatever you call it....I like it and it works for what I need.

other than that...this is what dictionary.com has to say.

truck:

/trʌk/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[truhk] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

–noun 1. any of various forms of vehicle for carrying goods and materials, usually consisting of a single self-propelled unit but also often composed of a trailer vehicle hauled by a tractor unit.
2. any of various wheeled frames used for transporting heavy objects.

The element is a great versatile suv...I once hauled a tree home by standing it up in the back and sticking it up through the rear sunroof.

I traded in my 06 EXP for the RTL because I wanted more luxury to go with the utility besides the fact that I got a price I could not resist. I do notice during my short time here that quite a few others either currently have or have owned the E.

You can call the Ridgeline anything you want. Don't forget the old saying: sticks and stones may break my bones but my RL is going to kick your a$$ (or something like that). It simply comes down to personal preference. I like 80's rock instead of today's music - you may not. I like apples more then oranges - you may not. Personal Preference means what you like - not what anybody else likes! (Unless of course you go by the name, VoicesInMyHead -then you may have several conflicting personal preferences.)

That was a pretty stupid and ignorant thread over at EOC. But it is an opinion expressed by many it seems:confused: Some people just don't get the RL I guess...

As for the E...

I love my E for what it is and does. I bought it specifically to use as a mini "base camp" for snowboarding, mtbing, and traveling. I pulled the 2 rear seats out as they are pretty useless anyways, put a twin air mattress in the back, and put all my gear in there. I put a Yakima cargo box on the roof along with a snowboard rack. It's good to go.

I can relax, rest, or sleep on the go now. I use it as an overnight base at the resorts so I don't have to pay for expensive hotels or don't have to drive back home. My wife and I plan to drive it up to Fairbanks, Alaska this winter to visit her brother. It should work fine as a "mini expedition" vehicle with a few mods. Drives well in the snow (not as good as the RL though) and gets decent mpg for a big square box on 4 wheels (around 21mpg average to date).

3 complaints:

1. Could do with a bit more power. Especially for the mountains. Maybe a TD possibly...
2. Woefully wasted interior space. Interior storage space (bins, cubbys, glovebox etc) is severely lacking! The designer was obviously not the same person that designed the interior of the RL...
3. The dealer told me it would hold 22 clowns comfortably. I was only able to get 16 in there last week.

Other than that I can't complain.

Sorry but lets keep it realistic here or will have them all cutting the RL down. I've hauled several loads of oak in mine weighing anywhere from 900lbs. to 1400lbs. . The front end was light, braking was a bit harder and the rear end squat was about an inch from the top of the tires. I could definitely tell I had quite the load. The RL handled it fine, I would say better then my "97" Ram. It's just like the ones that say they cant feel anything when pulling a trailer  . Either you never pulled one before or your B.S.ing. I can feel my empty two place aluminum sled trailer when pulling that.

Relax, NL. I said it didn't phase the RL, I didn't say I could not tell I had weight back there. To me, out of phase means uneasy feeling, unsafe, over/under steering, excessive braking, underpowered, so on.

perhaps you'll be sitting on a promotion board someday and will get to ask that of some lowly E4 like the smart-a$$ E7 who asked me that question! (btw, just for the record, I got it right and won my promotion to E5 - sort of a silly thing to hinge something so important on but I was up against 4 other "candidates" for a single promotion slot - with my first child on the way, I'd studied my keester off as I desperately need the pay increase, government housing & furniture, etc. that came with that particular promotion)

NASA calls this a "truck":
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/constellation/main/lunar_truck.html

I think the types who say the RL is not a truck are the types who can't wrap their heads around multiple platforms. Who say it's either a car or a truck. Or lately, an SUV. Well, the RL is definitely not a car. And it's definitely not an SUV. Therefore it must be a truck.

So, I'm posting up at my local motorcycle website about first sit in an RL ... mentioning RL and 'truck' together, get this dude ... not that I care much ..

"Dude seriously if you are trying to judge a "truck" by the headroom factor in the back seat then you are definitely a metro-sexual and therefore the ultra plush POS Honda is for you... if you not looking at torque numbers, raw horsepower and towing capacity then stop lying to your self and start looking at minivans that have the mangina cream applicator built into the center console...

If you want a truck then get a truck... the Tundra is a man's vehicle and for that matter so is the F-250... the Tacoma is an awesome midget truck but falls short in towing.

The reason the salesman at Honda are not paying you much attention is they are ashamed that you would even be looking at their creation and are hoping that you would realize that your a guy and would come to your senses. At the end of the day they will sell you the Honda if you are really set in buying it but they first have to stop laughing and walk into negotiations with a straight face. Maybe you can send you wife/girlfriend in to buy it for you so you at least get a deal on the vehicles price because if you walk into to buy that vehicle they are going to know your an idiot and jack the price up on you"

I also learned at the same time that those guys are about a step below cro magon man over there. Any time I have to wade thru fart and burp type comments it's time to go for me to go.

My 2 cents. If half of those idiots would unbolt the bed from their Taco's and see what is underneath they would be scared to drive it. They were making fun of the RL's frame. They should unzip their fly so to speak and see what they have. If they did, they would shut their mouth.

I know, it's rediculous in that tacomaworld thread.

The Ridgeline is obviously far ahead of its time. If idiotballs don't understand it, they're afraid of it ... 'they fear change' as Garth portrayed in Wayne's World #1 .... they probably look a lot like Garth too.

Just heard about a Suzuki Equator coming out end of this year. It's shaped somewhat like the Ridgeline, FWIW. Not that I'd want to buy a first year model Suzuki ... did that once with 5 week warranty repair on new model GSXR, never again.

The Equator is a rebadged Nissan Frontier. I wouldn't really quantify it as a new vehicle. It's a body on frame, not a unibody on frame like the RL. I wouldn't put it in the same class as a RL because it's not a full 4 door truck. The back doors are kinda smallish like clown doors and the back seat is only suited for chimps and kids under 10. It looks to have more offroad prowess than the RL but I'm not really into that anyways.

I used to have a Suzuki Sidekick eons ago. It would probably rank in my top 5 fun cars I have owned but it wouldn't break 80 mph going downhill IIRC. The only problem I ever had with it in 150k miles was a bad accelerator cable. It wasn't a half bad vehicle.
