Getting an RL into Canada from the USZolton 03-06-2008, 07:41 PM Anyone here have experience doing this? I'd like to bring a new one across but I'd settle for a used one. Any tips would be appreciated. :D Wpgman 03-06-2008, 07:53 PM I bought mine in the US in September. No problems, very easy. Here's a link that will give you lots of information. http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html The dealer that I dealt with was very helpfull with the paper work. They sent the necessary papers to the US customs, which you'll have to stop at before you return to Canada. They need to get your papers 72 hours before you arrive. You'll have to get daytime running lights done when you return. You can do a search in this forum to find out how to do it. It's pretty simple really. Hope you find the one you want, boobai 03-06-2008, 08:21 PM Finding a dealer willing to sell you a new one will be tough. Try going South, like NYC. Then try going even more South into other states. Zolton 03-06-2008, 08:22 PM Hmmm. Did you buy new? I assume you did judging by your profiled vehicle. I just spoke to a sales rep at a dealership near Boston and they said they weren't allowed (by Honda) to sell new vehicles to a Canadian. I would have to have an American purchase it in person (someone with an American address at least) and register it in the US. Then I could purchase it off them and bring it across as a used vehicle. Wpgman 03-07-2008, 07:12 AM I bought new, got it in just under the wire as I was able to buy it at the end of September. October 1st was when Honda clamped down on the dealers. You can still buy used. I don't know if there is any other way to get a new one, except maybe a demonstrator. boobai 03-07-2008, 09:00 AM I also got mine 3 days before Honda made the announcement. spun07RTX 03-07-2008, 03:13 PM I know a back way into canada dont tell anyone you have to wait till summer though ;) back roads arent plowed Zolton 03-08-2008, 11:34 PM Sure enough. No one in the US will sell a new RL to a Canadian. My only option is to buy used or get someone to buy new for me then sign it over to me. I'd be willing to make it worth someone's trouble if they'd do that for me. I can buy used and get one back no problem. Trouble with that is, a used '07 with 15 to 20 k miles on it is going for the same price as a new '08 with zero miles. Ouch! It's a frustrating situation. There are some great deals out there, I just can't get to them. :( Pug 03-09-2008, 05:07 AM Before I bought mine, I requested a Black w/grey int. The salesman said it would have to be brought south from the land of the maple leaf, so it would take around two-weeks. I passed on the wait. I grew to appreciate the salt-forgiveness of my Silver soon enough. good truck. good luck. $IMPULSIVE$ 03-20-2008, 01:46 AM Zolton i have researched the be-jeezus out of this and recently brought over an atv from the States. Like the others have said you cant buy new unless you first get an American friend to buy it for you then sign it over. So unless you have this 'friend' you will have to buy used. Dont forget the warranty stops the moment you cross the border (thanx Honda ), but for the money you will save its more than worth the gamble, and this is a Honda isnt it? :D $IMPULSIVE$ 06-04-2008, 11:51 PM As a follow up to this thread I want to mention i did purchase my Ridgeline in the states shortly after my initial post on this topic. I found a low mileage used, white, '06 RTL with moonroof in New York about 1 hour from my home. At the same time I was able to locate 3 or 4 very similar RL's on the Canadian side with similar options and miles and the price difference was astounding. I found there was nearly 10 grand difference between an American RTL and the Canadian equivalent EXL-SR. Even saved money on the beloved Canadian taxes LOL. :D :D :D Its nice to win one for a change! (((...thumbing nose at Canadian government...))) pjkanata 08-01-2008, 01:27 PM Depending on where you are located, I found this dealer (just south of Ottawa) who seems to be specializing in bringing in and selling used US vehicles. My Car Online: Used Cars Ottawa, Kingston - Ontario| Buy used cheap cars online (http://www.mycaronline.ca/?gclid=CNbIis2v7ZQCFQIBxwodrmIXqw) They have quite the selection. ridgelinemike 01-04-2009, 12:11 AM Sure enough. There are some great deals out there, I just can't get to them. :( I know of some dealers in the USA that have 'friends' on paper that buy the vehicle for little[50 bucks] or no cost at all. Then you can buy new. The money does not change hands until you have the vehicle in your name. I got a great deal on an 07 Ridgeline last year. I debated between that and new, but the warranty thing is a reason to not buy new. Stoli 01-04-2009, 10:37 AM you could buy mine. it's an '08 rts in silver, 8900 miles. i want to get back into a car. kwoodman 01-04-2009, 02:00 PM you could buy mine. it's an '08 rts in silver, 8900 miles. i want to get back into a car.
