View Full Version : Cargo Carrier With Ramp

With the snow we sometimes get in Ohio I need an easy way to transport my snowblower. My wife's parents are up in years, and my oldest sister has heart problems.

Here is a pic of my snowblower loaded on the Cargo carrier. Don't pay attention to the dirty Ridgeline!

Hard to tell from this pic. Do you have a cover on the box?
Why not just put it in the back of the truck?
Looks like a nice set up though. Would be good on moving day if you put some removable side on it.

No, I don't have a Tonneau cover. I have considered getting one, just not totally sure I want one.

It could go in the bed, but I have had 3 back surgeries, the snowblower is about 200 LBS. So, lifting it is not an option. Ramps would be an option, but I bought the Cargo carrier for about $100. The ramp folds down, and the snowblower walks itself up on there.

I've seen cargo carriers before, but is this version typically use for their motorized wheel chairs? Where did you purchase it? I don’t blame you for not wanting to use ramps… That would be a waste of time since you are working on multiple locations for each storm. Quick on and off…

Yes, this is typically used for motorized wheel chairs or scooters. But the Ad showed using it for a snowblower too. I bought it over a year ago on Ebay. I think it is probably easier and faster than using ramps to get it into the bed of the truck. What takes the longest is strapping it down.

How much weight do you think the hitch will take with this kind of set up?

I was told the weight rating is 600 lbs. The hitch tongue weight is 500 lbs.
The snowblower is almost 200 lbs. the carrier weighs about 75 lbs. I don't think it's enough weight to hurt anything. Like I stated above, these are typically sold & used for the motorized scooters or wheel chairs. I'm sure they weigh as much or more than my snowblower.
