Trailer brakelight keeps blowing out

Use brother-in-law's flat trailer once and a while, but the right side brake light bulb keeps blowing out, though the part of the bulb that is the taillight still works. What might be the cause? He says it's no big deal but I'm just a stickler for having things work right.

sound like it is shorting or grounding out on the wire from trailer light to harness. Just replace the wire it faster than trace down the short and splicing the cable.
