Filled up for the first time last night. Needle was pegged exactly at 1/2 tank. It took 9.3 gallons (autopump shutoff + plus 1 more squeeze), trip was 153 miles. Assuming the dealer actually filled the tank to the top like they were supposed to that leaves me at about 16.4 MPG. Driving was about 50/50 city/hwy.
Does 9.3 gallons sound right for half tank? If it is a 22 gallon tank, i am assuming they figure a 3 gallon reserve which leaves you 18 gallons/2 = 9 gallons. Make sense?

Shamrock,
I have a 2007 and I have noticed my needle has gotten a little worse over the past few months. I am a quarter way south of the half-way point when I hit 11 gallons, which is actually half a tank.
I have seen other posts saying the fuel gauge is a little screwy. I am at 145 miles coming to work today and it is right at the 1/2 way mark. Last Fall, I was at 175-180 at the 1/2 way mark.
I averaged about 18.5 mpg during late summer/fall and then saw a drop to 17mpg in the winter... winter gas. This could account for some of the difference, but I still think the fuel gauge on the RL is a little off.
Hope this helps some.

I always fill up at 1/2 tank unless on a long trip. Around 9 gallons and a few tenths if you stop with the auto shut off. Ten gallons if you pack it. I doubt if your dealer gave you a full tank!!

MPG not bad if you drive it correctly. I will fill up today, about 150 miles and still on the plus side of 1/2 tank. I should get 15/16 MPG and have not been out of town!!
