Improved Mileage Witha Canopy/cap?

Hi Gang,

After my first 2 fill-ups I'm getting an avg of 15.9 combined highway & around town. Most of what I've read here indicates mileage improves after 5000 miles or so.

Here's my question. I'm getting a fiberglass A.R.E. CANOPY/CAP installed this week. How can I expect that to affect the mileage, good, bad, not-at-all ?
Thanx! -Z-

Nothing worse for a pickup's mileage than an open bed and the tailgate to cause resistance.

It should improve it slightly because of the reduced resistance, but lessened soemwhat by the added weight. The net should be positive.

Post pictures of that A.R.E!

Not on the Ridgeline. Now if you're towing a tall trailer a cap may help...

I would expect that your mileage would go down based on what others have posted.

I have the ARE cap and average just about 20.5 mpg/ highway. I am very pleased with the cap. It also gets lots of looks

I got my ARE Canopy. My mileage went up from 15 to 16.9. Maybe it would've done that anyway. I think though that with the increased weight, mileage would've gone down had it not been for the reduced drag of the open bed.
