mentallyabused 08-22-2005, 12:44 PM I was recentally out on one of my off-road adventures when I decided to go all out. I hit the jump at about 35m.p.h. and caught some wicked air, but I came down hard on her nose. I need a new front bumper. I have no idea where to fine one and I don't want to pay auto body big bucks for a 10 minute job. suggestions...
Ridge 08-22-2005, 12:51 PM You know, when you do things like that in your RL, you need to have someone take pictures.
Halabar 08-22-2005, 12:59 PM watch eBay or other sources for someone parting-out a wrecked Ridge. There have been a few already, allthough they were all front-colisions, so no help yet...
Yes, pictures are essential. :D
Video of the action would even be better but I'd take photos of the aftermath.
BannedUser 08-22-2005, 02:35 PM I was going to say something smart but I'll leave it alone. :D
eBay is my first suggestion. Google or Yahoo search on parts for a Ridgeline would be my second.
Good luck.

At 35 MPH and 10 feet in the air and only a 10 minute job!!! I know why you use your user name.

Godskid 08-22-2005, 05:33 PM I knew the Ridgeline was capable of alot, but jumping and flying?? Hopefully mine won't feel the need to float on air anytime soon...at least not intentionally.
Hope you get if fixed real soon. Pics maybe?? :o
cwridge 08-22-2005, 05:38 PM First of all that is awsome.I have been waiting for a lift kit to really go offraoding. And yes they will make one.I remember when people said two wheel drive toyotas cant offroad in the desert and they were as wrong as the people who say i cant offroad a ridgy.A little bumper mod and a bash gaurd the ridgy prerunner is born.
The honda bumper really isnt that expensive it just needs to be painted. You can find a hole sale site on line but in the long run I think you would be better off with a honda bumper a letting a after market shop paint it.Just make sure they are a quaity shop.
Not to discount the street ridgy they are great but I truly think Honda knows full well that we are going to offroad this truck.Have you ever seen a ridgy commercial that didnt have one offraoding.

mental,
Here's a site where you can get replacement parts for everything Honda.
Majestic Honda (http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/)
It looks like their price for the front face bumper is $281.25
I'm thinkin' $300 air!!
...and now that I think about it, the whole front bumper face is $281 and the accessory grill is $214!!!!! Now I'm more pissed about this grill!!!

Alabama State Motto.... Here, hold my beer. Watch this! :D
captmiddy 08-23-2005, 07:42 AM This is why most of us will not be offroading in our Ridgeline for a few years now. With an old beater truck I wouldn't care if the bumper was half hanging off, use a few wire hangers and stitch that baby back in place until I can go to the junk yard and find another one. I am not exactly looking for pristine with my truck but I certainly don't want parts hanging off it just yet.

Reminds me of my younger days and the weekly jeep trips. Have fun on Sunday, spend the rest of the week beating out the dents to go again the next week. Think I will keep all 4 on the ground for a while.

Been there done that! Some of it across the line in Alabama. Good times and good beer. Glad you had someone to hold your beer, mind usually spilled in my lap! :D
mentallyabused 11-08-2005, 12:22 AM Everythings fix and fine again. When I busted the bumper off I riped most of the retaining clips. I fix them all with little bit of stainless steel. I made 6 clips and affixed the stainless brackets to the bumper and installed and repainted everything myself, and little help from my buddy. Thx Hector!!! I also took the time to install a 4 piece billet grill, a sunroof, a sub and amp, AEM brute force intake and I think thats about it. What have u guys been up to?
p.s. I don't think I'll be doing anymore jumping. My ridge is destine to roll on DUBS!!!

Outback 11-10-2005, 01:40 PM Ok enough's enough!
I call extreme Bullcr@p here there are no pics of the bumper damage but only of his Washed non-scathed RL.
C'mon guys I read here quite a bit, but it's getting real thick, and surprised that almost everyone has let it go this long.
For 1 thing 10Ft in the air at 35mph you would have to go double that with a good Ramp to get that high, and it would still nose dive hard! The only thing broke is the front Bumper @ 10FT c'mon guys any of you know when you really OR and you slam the Front End down hard just from a minor Rockmass there is bumper damage not only that but the RL has no oil pan protection and is close to the ground so he would of blew a hole through that for sure. Wow, the more I think of it the thicker it has become!
Call it when you see it boys because that way the Bull gets thinned out.
Spritegeezer 11-10-2005, 04:37 PM Good call Outback.
mentallyabused 11-12-2005, 11:05 PM Alright Outback, u think I'm full of S%!*, F u. I don't care if u don't believe it. I flew 10 ft. forward I was only a foot or two of the ground. I hit the ground with my front bumper with broke all the retaining clips. It was holding by one bottom bolt. There are 4 or 6 bolts down there. I also busted the plastic clips that are under the hood. I would have taken a pic but I don't have a digital camera. My buddy shot these pics for me. There are a couple spots that we didn't sand down and repaint, but we touched up with touch up paint. There is also a piece of plastic that broke off the bumper. I will take pics next time I can borrow his camera. And also I paid into unemployment for 4 yrs until I was layed off my job.
mentallyabused 11-12-2005, 11:08 PM Also I ripped the plastic that goes under the front of the truck. I also put a nice little scratch on the tranny. It was about a 1/2 inch away from the tranny drain bolt. That was close. I'll have pics soon.
mentallyabused 11-12-2005, 11:15 PM Outback, look at the pick of the car straight from the front. See the exhaust pipe. There should be plastic there. I also bent the header and I was getting a vibration a 2000 rpm and I had to take it to the dealer to get fixed. The bent it back but did a crap job of bending it back. I'll have pics for u.
DoctorJ 11-13-2005, 06:15 AM I flew 10 ft. forward I was only a foot or two of the ground.
This means you only got 1-2 feet of air, its height not distance.

So I'll call you on this again. Now your doing 35mph you hit this so called jump and you fly 10ft foward but only 1-2ft off the ground.
Think about it. This is even worse then the last story you told. How can you fly for 10ft and only be 1-2ft off the ground?
Remember your going 35mph and you are offroad and not on pavement. Even if you were on pavement there would be no way that is possible at 35mph and only 1-2ft off the ground.
I think this is what you wanted me to say.
Wow man your the best!! Great job!! Your Crazy!!
Too bad as this what I am saying.
Your Story has no credibility with the comments you have made.
ex.1 I got 10ft of air this was made to sound like you were up in the air 10ft.
ex.2 I got 10ft of air but only foward as I was 1-2ft off the ground.
Along with those great Carnage pics you have shown of your clean truck that you have posted, and where it happened.
Let me guess there will not be because this would further the facts of your already bogus story.
Maybe next time tell the truth and don't try to cover 1 lie up with another and you won't look like a fool.
Thanks,
ttyl
Okay guys and gals, let's bring this one back on topic. I don't mind a spirited discussion but this one is turning into a cat fight.
Mentallyabused - watch the profanity and the personal attacks. The other poster was pointing out some alleged inconsistencies with what you have reported. Either address them or ignore them but no profanity.
Dnick 11-15-2005, 12:41 AM Geez Lueeez,
So you think a guy's telling fish-stories . . . so what? Do we really need "liar, liar, pants on fire" police crying foul if a guy either stretches his stories or doesn't have the same sense for dimensions (or reality) as a another reader might. I'm guessing Mentallyabused might just be young & exhuberent, and more than a little defensive at someone challenging his integrity (as we all would be). That doesn't mean we should be shooting to push each other's buttons.
You might want to just lighten up a bit Outback . . . if you choose to that is. It's a free world, but there's no reason we can't all stay friendly here. Mutual respect can include respecting another's right to tell stories. It might take some hard swallowing, but it is doable.
Outback 11-15-2005, 10:45 AM I call it as I see it.

BTW most of the time I do sit back and just laugh at those posts, this time I replied.
If you want to believe and relish in his story go ahead. Further more I really think that we all learn more from facts not a fictional story.
On the lighter side of things, Dnick I have a piece of land in Florida for you ;) give you a great deal :)

I think mentallyabused may have "got some air"
Ive been in the air 5-10 feet, but on CR250 and honda 400 atv. but on dirt tracks. You come down hard even just a few feet in the air. I can imagine if the ridgeline was completely in the air it would come down hard and probably cause the damage he suggests.
it is easy to lose track of how fast and high you get. it feels a lot more than it really is. That is why I think he did something, I'm just not sure 35 MPH would get you flying over 10 feet of ground. unless the terraine was sloping downward as he came over the top of a hill? like snow ski jumping always going down hill.
Outback 11-15-2005, 03:59 PM Reminds me of 1 of my buddies.
He was sayining he was getting 5ft of air on his skidoo. So my other buddy went with him, and when my buddy said to him "did you see how much air I got, at least 5 feet ehh?" My other buddy said "The rear of your track just came off the snow maybe a few inches."
They were going around 40-50mph in the ditches here.
So yes I agree it does feel allot different then it actually is.:)

I agree, I have two sleds I use in Maine, first of all, they are hard to get off the ground to any reall degree unless you are in a mogle situation. the feeling of being off the ground is very exciting easy to lose track of what is up!
