ECLIPSE AVN6620 DVD Navigation System with 7inch Wide TFT Display and Dual DVD Multi-Source Receiver AVN6620 | Fujitsu Ten (http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn/avn6620overviews.html)

I am thinking about having this installed on Thursday. Anybody have any thoughts on this system? Good? Bad? Better available? I can get this HU and professional install for $1200. I was thinking about getting some better speakers for the front doors as well, once again any thoughts? I really don't know much about speakers and sound systems so any help is appreciated. Thanks

I like the 6620, it's a step above and the 2008 model of the unit I am running. I started my system off with a 2007 avn5510 and have been very pleased with it.

One new thing the 6620 includes is built in ipod controls. Be warned, haha you start with the good ish, you're going to want to finish with the good ish

This is what I added first:
AVN5510
Sirius Radio
HandsFree Bluetooth - by far one of the best upgrades I've done.

Then I went all out and dynamatted the truck, went active on my system so wallet beware!

Did you notice a huge difference with the Dynamat? And what did you Dynamat? Floor, doors, roof?

That is a sweet unit. It uses DVD navigation, as compared to Hard drive (Pioneer) or solid state (Kenwood/Garmin). I agree that the bluetooth integration is awesome.

I dampened the rear bulkhead, the floor underneath the seat, and the underside of the seat with two layers, and the doors with one layer. See my install thread for pictures.

I love my Eclipse set-up, mine is the AVN 5435 and I have the Eclipse back-up camera connected also. Good stuff!

Okay guys, I ordered the system today and they are installing it tomorrow, assuming they get all the parts. I am getting the 6620 with bluetooth, ipod, and a Boyo back up camera installed. I am really excited about upgrading and can't wait to play!!! They actually talked me out of buying different speakers, for now! They said since I am on the fence about getting new speakers that I should wait until I get the new unit and see what I think instead of just spending a few extra hundred. Sounds reasonable. Hopefully I can post some pics tomorrow!

Not a bad approach, but I give you 30 days and you'll be back for speakers :) You can have the doors dampened at the same time. Beware, this can blow up into a full blown addiction.

Yep, Like shovelhd said... you just screwed the pooch buddy ;)

You're boyo backup camera will require an adapter in order to plug into the AVN's. If they are an authorized Eclipse installer they should know this, but just in case here you go:

Rakapur,
If you speach for speaker install you will see that a speaker adapter is needed to complete your installation without having to modify the doors.

You guys are right about the speakers...I am already wanting new ones :) I will try to get some pics up soon..I like the way the system looks, but I wish it were a little more flush with the trim.

Wondered if you were still happy with your 6620. My dealer initially recommended that model but when the new Pioneer F Series were announced, I went with that. Needless to say, it's been in for 3 days and I think it's coming out.... very buggy; takes forever to start up; screen is washed out in sunlight; bluetooth doesn't work with my Curve, etc.

Did you consider the AVN5495? Seems like an older unit but is hard drive based vs. DVD. Seems like that would be quicker but appears to lack a bluetooth option.

If you have any other specifics on likes/dislikes, it would be appreciated. I have a serious case of buyers remorse with the Pioneer and at this point think I would have been better served with going with Factory NAV. Of course a little late for that now....

Thanks.

I hate to hear you are having buyers remorse....as for me I am happy with my unit. It does everything I need it to do. The only thing I dislike is the bluetooth is not integrated in the head unit. It uses the Parrot bluetooth, which works great, I just wish it was integrated. We ended up going with the Eclipse back up camera instead of the Boyo, but to be honest it is all the same to me. I really didn't consider anything else. I live in a smaller city and we have a locally owned company called CARRS here that has a good reputation on this kind of stuff, so I walked in told the owner what I was looking for, he got on the phone with his supplier and I ended up with the Eclipse. I am very happy with the system, as for DVD based Navi, it isn't an issue because it has the capability of dual input...I can listen to a CD, IPOD, or watch a DVD and still use the Navigation system. Hope this helps..I am not the most knowledgable person when it comes to audio things.
