XM Radio Options (RTS)

Hi All,

I searched and found a few different responses, but nothing dealing with my specific situation.

I am the proud owner of a 2008 RL RTS. I want to add XM Radio to the truck.

I am not sure if the best option is to buy the factory XM module, or use a stand-alone XM receiver and wire it in.

I can get the stand-alone unit cheaper (buy over $100) but if the factory unit works better and is truly integrated, I would prefer that.

I have a 2006 pilot with the XM built in and love it.

Lastly, what are the options for the XM antenna to be installed with the factory option?

Thanks

Pete

Pete,
I don't own a Ridgline, wish I did but it's not in the financial cards right now! I do have a Sirius radio in my Tacoma. I have the cradle mounted permanently but the radio comes and goes with me. Since it's not installed I can put it in the docking station in my office and in the one at home. All for the same subscription price, so I would recommend you do something similar. That way you'll be able to enjoy your XM or Sirius even when your not enjoying your new RTS!.

Is the aux input on the factory radio use RCA inputs or a special plug?

If it is a special plug, is there an adaptor that goes from the radio to a set of RCA jacks that I can use to plug in a external XM tuner?

Thanks

Crutchfield sells an adapter that plugs into the back of the headunit in the Ridgeline, then you plug the XM receiver into the adapter. IIRC the price is about $70.00, they furnish GREAT instuctions on how to do the install, (tools needed, how to remove the head unit and make all the conections, actual photos of the Rideline dash so you know exactly what to do.) The whole job takes about 20 min. after reading the instuctions FIRST. I hope this info. helps. Happy listening.:)
