Setting the clock!!

This may sound dumb, but after a year I still have not figured out how to set the time on my RTL w/nav. When daylight savings comes my clock is off by one hour.

Anybody know how to set the time?

Thanks in advance.

I have to read that dam manual every time myself! Can't never remember, even now in front of my computer. Have to look in the index. What a pain. I'll look in the manual later tonight though (unless you beat me to it). ;)

The navi system can't even tell time? That's just wrong. The only thing I have to do with my Garmin is set the correct time zone when we travel.

KRL, you have two choices.... (1) read the manual, or (2) read this post. And since you're here, my guess is you picked option 2. Right under your "Volume" control button is a button that says "Scan." And right above that button is the word "Clock." Push the Scan button and it will make the clock start to blink. Then, look at your #1 and #2 buttons on your radio. Right below them, you'll see "H" and "M". Those buttons are to set the hours and minutes. Under the #3 button, there's an "R", which I 'think' is for reverse on the numbers, but I haven't tried that to know for sure.

I have an '03 Accord, and setting the clock is needlessly complicated. Much easier with the Ridgeline. All you have to remember is the "Clock" button and the H and M buttons. Hope this gets you squared away.

I am surprised that car makers don't spend a few dollars (less than $5.00 per vehicle, I would guess) to install clocks that would self-locate using GPS technology and use the GPS signal or the WWV signal to keep the time set all the time.

Every time the vehicle changes time zones, the clock would note the position and adjust.

The RTL with Navi will auto-reset the clock time as you travel east-west across time zones just like your cell phone but, curiously, I've had trouble with mine resetting to Daylight Savings Time and back. I guess I chalked that up to the change in start time for DST this year, but it still should've reset on its own and it didn't. I had to reset it manually.

When they did that crazy thing with the time change this past year that messed up the reset. I thought they fixed it with the new Nav DVD.
But the DVD update had problems & has not been released as of yet for us.

I set my clock using the Navi menu screen. You have to go to a sub menu.

In the nav menu you can enable or disable DST.

If you have a 2006 Ridgeline and have not updated the nav DVD (www.hondanavi.com (http://www.hondanavi.com)) the dates which it will change from ST to DST are incorrect because the law changed. I believe dealers were offering a free patch for the problem, but I don't know the current status of the issue.

If the nav system has an updated DVD and DST mode is set properly all the rest is automatic. It will automatically change timezones, and adjust for DST or ST.

Forgot to mention... the nav system will also automatically update the clock on your radio as well.

To add to Tcape's excellent instructions- you have to push and hold the scan button until the clock's numbers flash.

Except that the original poster has an RTL w/nav. The clock sets itself.

I had to go to INFO (after enabling Nav - it won't work if you don't) then SETUP, then MORE, then you find the CLOCK, it was set to auto change to DST but was not doing it. I manually changed it but then it was an hour too fast, so perhaps my going in there made the auto DST start working??? I did hit the reset option. I bet I will still have a problem though as the dates were changed ( I have an 07 but early 07)

I can't see that crummy little clock in the XM radio! I bought a lighted digital clock and stuck it to the dash with velcro. Problem solved.

reduce everything to it's lowest form, exploit it to the maximum extent!

I tune to Ch 131 - BBC . At the top of the hour they broadcast 5 beeps 1 second apart. I wait till the top of the hour, get the clock blinking, then push the 'R' (No. 3) button which automatically sets the clock to the top of the hour (i.e. zero minutes, zero seconds). That way my clock is within a second or so of actual time. You have to push the 'R' button at about the 3rd beep because there is a slight delay before the time changes. For daylight savings time you just push the hour (No. 1) button after you get the clock blinking.
