: France raises terrorist level
steveberger 08-24-2005, 01:58 PM Prime Minister Chirac has officially raised the French terror alert level from "Run " to "Hide " .There are only two higher levels in France - "Surrender" and "Collaborate".
The rise was precipitated by a recent fire which destroyed France's white flag factory - effectively crippling their military.

Dammit Steve. I'm currently at the San Francisco International Airport waiting for an Air France flight carrying my girlfriend from Paris (wireless in airports rocks by the way). I read your post and thought it was a serious thing. I thought to myself, "better read this, it's probably why the flight is delayed for three hours." But noooooooo, I got suckered! :p

I actually read this in a John Sanford book. I cracked up! My husband thought it was funny too :)
oldguy 08-24-2005, 07:21 PM Have you also herd that the French are also Ladies of the evening,"They will sell to anyone for a $$$".
Lingered_I 08-24-2005, 08:11 PM As I seem to be the token Brit on this forum, I will just point out that those wimpy French helped you guys out in a certain war a couple of hundred years ago. I myself have forgiven them but how soon you forget. :D
If it wasn't for the French, you'd all be talking English right now
emgun 08-24-2005, 10:31 PM And France forgets that we helped them out about 60 years ago, otherwise they would be talking German.
Ridge 08-25-2005, 02:28 AM That was good Steve. I never get tired of laughing at the french.

You mean British, don't you!?
As was dicussed the last time I was in the UK. You speak British, we speak American - The only ones speaking English are from India, where it is still properly taught!:p

I don't know if I think that this is very funny. There are many french speaking friends that may find it somewhat offensive if it wasn't so damn funny. :D

oh yea????? well right back at ya buddy!!!! ;)
flymuck 08-25-2005, 08:05 AM Je suis d'accord avec vous, Skywalker; la plupart des Américains le trouvent nécessaire de faire l'amusement du Français pour guider leur propre manque de confiance.
That being said, I'm half-French, and I still got a chuckle out of it. The big joke in my family was that my dad (who was of German decent) married my mom (native of France) -- so it was yet another French who'd been conquered by a German!
I sure wish this country (the US) weren't quite so uptight in general -- they could learn a lot from the French in that regard. In France, women walk around on the beach topless, and appear on television commercials topless; it's not a big deal, it's just the human body! Whereas in this country, we see one part of one of JJ's boobie on TV for a split second and everyone freakin' loses it. Uptight puritans, I swear. :D

Exactly who started this country in the 1600s. I guess 400 years wasn't that long ago.
flymuck 08-25-2005, 08:51 AM Yes, exactly -- it is a young country settled by people who were compelled to leave their homelands because they were outcasts, rejected by others for their religion. So, what do we do here? We push forward a Christian agenda, making people who are *not* Christian feel outcast. Let freedom ring!
(I have a feeling the thread is about to take a very dangerous turn... my apologies, but hey, I started it! :D)
Dnucci 08-25-2005, 09:04 AM Bill Murry said it best in "Stripes"
"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Americans with a capital A, huh? You know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse."

Lingered_I 09-02-2005, 04:31 PM The dreadful French are providing 4.6m gallons of refined product (mostly gasoline) a day to the US.
Now be nice and say thank you.
