Why such a price difference in Accessories USA vs Can??

New Ridge owner here... 2008 LX (RT USA)- just got it Friday & loving it! I just got the towing package installed by the dealer as a "thrown in" option, (it is my 10th vehicle from this dealer...)

Having said this, I am now looking for a few more options; Rear seat under storage, rear wheel mudflaps, a set of "nerf bars", and possibly a bed extender... What is the deal with the cost of these things in Canada!!!? USA pricing is FAR better, but most places won't ship to Canada. I heard about the College Hills Honda on line shop that supposedly will ship to Canada... anyone use them? Or have another solution? I am sick and tired of getting rooked by Canadian Retailers (probably has something to do with government duties and taxes too I suppose)...

Any suggestions? Advice?

I feel your pain brother, I live 2 hours away from the boarder and yes I wanted to buy Honda Fog lights as an option for my 2008 rtl but the dealer in town says 400.00 plus instalation which is 4 hours so yeah all said and done 1000.00 I'm planning a trip to michigan and I'm going to try to pick up a set there because there only 179.00 so the price of fuel is fine with me, But as to your question I'm sure that that dealership is good because they still are registered Honda Dealership so I'm sure it would be fine best of luck

If you think the parts are overpriced, look at the trucks themselves. New EX-L (RTL) is 45k, and you can buy in Cal for 25K.... and they're made here!!! WTF

Well noted Mitchie and yes I was also aware of the prices for the vehicles themselves as well, however there are issues with bringing them up here... Aside from financing of course, e.g. conversions/ import duties/ warranty. Incidentally I live about 1 1/2 hours from where these dam things are built! Boggles the mind!

You may want to consider some DIY options for some of the accessories you're considering. LOTS of $$ to be saved. For example, see this link for a DIY underseat storage tray.... http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/interior/16487-tray-under-back-seat-pics.html There are also many other links on the forum for DIY accessories. Try the "Advanced Search" to find the links.

Also, you can get some very inexpensive plastic containers that fit perfectly under the rear seat. I got two of them at my local Wal-Mart for around $3 each. They work perfectly for what I wanted. Just a thought....

Thanks Tcape! Good idea... actually I have a plastic tub from a kid's set of stackable toy shelves in there right now holding the hitch accessories and a selection of bungies... LOL.

I don't mind paying for the authentic storage bin... I just don't want to pay the Canadian Dealer's ridiculous prices if I can get for 1/2 the price in USA. My dealer who I bought the Ridge from has it for $225.00 whereas US dealers routinely sell for $116.00.

Does anyone have any source of information on dealer cost for Ridgeline options in Canada? CarCostCanada only lists the dealer's price for the vehicle, and says that everything other than paint colour is a dealer item.
