5S Dude 08-26-2005, 04:51 PM I had a small window of CNC time to mill a set of billet door sills for my Ridge. They are just decoration and serve no purpose at all kinda like gold plated tailgate logos. I’ll be cutting some gas, brake and parking brake pedal covers with the “Ridgeline oval pattern” next for my baby.
doubledutyemt 08-26-2005, 04:52 PM And your going to start selling them on ebay for how much? lol
DWdrums 08-26-2005, 05:20 PM dude, those are SICK!!!
What do you mean serve no purpose. That looks great
BannedUser 08-26-2005, 05:48 PM BILLET?? Did you say Billet Silver? I'll take a set please. :D
captmiddy 08-26-2005, 05:53 PM Those are nice, not sure I would want them myself but they look really cool. I always worry about adding stuff like that around here because of how cold it can get in the winter and it would be another place to collect ice.

Hi Capt, These are pre-production prototypes and are applied with a 1/16 layer of 3M double stick 100% waterproof adhesive the entire length of the aluminum plate which seals the area under each piece. By comparison the stock plastic door sill can be removed with your fingernails and there are a set of three or four square and oval holes for the OEM plastic sills to mount to the truck body. Rest assured, I will take her into the snow country this winter for extensive testing. Thank you very much as I appreciate any and all ROC input on these items.
Those are really nice. I would be interested in a set if they should become available for sale sometime in the future.
H20MAN 08-26-2005, 08:21 PM Those look great, you could make a killing selling those. Very, very nice work.
mugen1 08-26-2005, 08:34 PM I would buy them in a heartbeat. Billet aluminum door sills -- yum! PM me with price as soon as you make the decision to sell them.
BTW, nice Mitutoyo caliper. Those the coolant proof ones?
5S Dude 08-26-2005, 09:05 PM Hum... Maybe I should contact T-mac about a ROC club pricing using paypal. I know I need his permission first so I'll pm him regarding mass production and sales on this forum and get back to all interested. Keep in mind these are real 6061-T6 billets machined and hardcoat anodized in America. They are not cast and polished in china replicas. Thank you all for your input. ROC-on!
RivaDragon 08-26-2005, 09:05 PM I'll take a set of those too thanks! Seriously, sell those on ebay, you could probably pay off your truck with the profits!
Ya know that black plastic piece that covers the top of the tailgate.... billet.... mmmmmmm
Billet trailerhitch cover with an RL on it... mmmmmm

5S Dude 08-27-2005, 09:59 AM I've still not heard from T-Mac on this issue yet but I'm sure we will work out the details soon. I was looking around the engine bay last night and got to thinking about the mods we did on my del-Sol. What are your thoughts on decorative battery clamps? The units pictured were machined for the Subaru WRX. Thank you all for your input.
Mugen, went to you web pics, Man! you dig really deep to improve your sound system!! Very sweet indeed.
nevadagarth 08-27-2005, 10:04 AM I want those door sills sooooooooo bad.
One question, since I am not at my truck now, how (if at all) do the door sills impact the weather seals on the door?

They measure 1/4 thick and are the same exact outside dimensions as the stock
plastic items. So they fit in exactly the same location as the stockers. Actually, the stock units fit neatly under the rubber door seals as does the billet units. :D
SixOpRidge 08-27-2005, 10:51 AM The door sill deco looks awesome!! Hey, I could help you out with the 'extensive testing' of your product during the winter (or now)...just send them my way! :) So when are you sending them to me? No....seriously! :D

captmiddy 08-28-2005, 05:41 PM I have finally been able to go out and look at what this sill would replace in the Ridgeline and now understand them. I guess without really looking at the ones on the truck I couldn't imagine what these were or how small they were. I now understand and think they are far cooler than I did before. I would still be worried about the medal holding ice and being harder to notice the ice than the plastic but it isn't really something you step on often if at all, and yours are much nicer than the ones on the truck.

Good morning RedRidge, I really do want to sell these types of items. However, I have not heard from T-Mac regarding selling on this forum yet and the adhesive supplier has since quit stocking the 3M brand waterproof stuff so I'm currently researching alternate solutions at this time. I just finished a pair for the 05 Mustang and the company just used "Gorilla Glue" and mounted them right over the existing plastic sill. It will be featured at the SEMA show in Vegas in November. Thanks.

Good morning all, I’m sorry to have left the forum for the past week. I’ve been pretty busy with the logistics and loading of First-Aid supplies and Surgical Equipment for the relief effort for the three southern states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. My (day-job) company manufactures surgical supplies and are donating large truck loads of medical supplies to the region.
I do have news regarding the “3M™ Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape” to mount the billet door sills. I’ve found a new supplier on the web and have ordered a case. For all still interested, I have not received any response from “T-Mac” concerning the sale on the ROC forum so I will begin taking orders after Labor Day.
You can PM or email me with your orders. I have since revised the Ridgeline logo on the front door sill and will post photos as soon as I cut them. Pricing will include four sills with mounting tape and instructions. I will also post pricing and include shipping cost as well. Thank you all for your patients. Many more interior goodies to follow! ROC the world.
Please support the Hurricane 2005 Relief operation
PS. LadyRidge, I would like to donate the first set of door sills for Ridgena attending :D the Nopi Nationals! Please email me with shipping details. Thanks, Ron

5S Dude 09-06-2005, 06:31 PM Hi to all you fellow ROC heads,
What had started out just as a hobby has taken on a life of it's own! I've just done the 05 Mustang, an 05 Viper and the Crew-Cab Titan and the response has been overwhelming! I think people have just wanted something besides "Ball-Milled-boring" designs. Hence, the "Louvered Slots"
The retail price for the 4-piece door sills would run $169.95 (Way cheaper than the plastic OEM door protectors I need for my truck!!) and also include 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape and printed instructions with photos. I've just ordered a case of the 3M adhesive and will be machining the door sills in two weeks. My son is currently building the web site and will include pay-pal as well as credit card purchase. Thank you for the response. I will have many more billet goodies for our club to judge after the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on Nov. 1st. thru the 4th. I will report back to this forum with updates as soon as they happen.
Thanks again. :D

Sorry Kamaaina, for being away for so long as I'm totally swamped with work! This "Hobby has taken a life of it's own lately. To answer your question, I've got the RL gas, brake and e-brake pedal covers in CAD as well as the glove box door pull and "This is not an ashtray" door decorative aluminum plates. I just need some time to cut some samples so I can post photos and allow the rest of the club judge whether we should produce them or not.

This is what I recieved in the email from 5S Dude early this morning, the Master of all Master sill designers. I am still speechless as I had no idea he was personalizing them just for ME!!
He's shipping them out and I can't wait to install them on my truck and show them to everyone at the NOPI and beyond.
If you considered ordering them from him, DO NOT HESITATE
Besides, who better to buy something from than a fellow ROC head??
Watch for more information.

I thank you with all my heart.

5S Dude 09-26-2005, 09:28 PM Yes, Toobuku. However the response has been a little overwhelming to be honest. I've contracted two production machine shops to do the "store bought" generic door sills and will continue with "one off" custom engraved units on a weekly cycle. First come first serve as I can only go so fast. Keep in mind, The more complex the engraving, the longer and costlier things can get. Items like the Raiders Logo would be "Off limits" of course. :D
BannedUser 09-28-2005, 04:33 PM Todd came home early from work today to have lunch with me :D and take me to get Ridgena from the Ganley Honda. Her new carpet was installed and she was waiting for me. The door weather guard was on order and the little handle on the back seat vents was put back on after it got knocked off with a lap top. As we were getting ready to leave the door bell rang. I was in my studio downstairs so Todd answered the door. A few minutes went by and I didn't hear anything from him so I called to him when I realized he was walking down the stairs. A million things went through my mind. All of a sudden, he rounded the corner with a package in his hand. THEY ARRIVED!!! MY SILLS FROM 5S DUDE WERE HERE. I couldn't breath. Todd began to open the package and I felt like a teenager sitting there with my hands over my mouth trying to not to blurt out, "Hurry up, dammit". He opened them carefully, unwrapped them from the bubble wrap and he took one out and held it up. I said..."OMG....how cool is THAT!!!????? They're so beautiful." In my excitement, I told Todd we needed to hurry and go get Ridgena so we could install them. He brought me back down to earth and said "no, lets do this right." "Ok, you're right", I said. It felt like Christmas.
Thanks 5S Dude. You did a fantastic job and I hope you sell millions of them to show the world how special they and you really are.
And if anyone out there was considering buying them, stop the consideration process and just order them. Treat yourself to a personalized gift that gives back everytime you step into your Ridgeline that already makes you feel special.
I have posted the pictures that 5S sent me again and as soon as they are installed in Ridgena I will post more.

5S Dude 10-02-2005, 10:17 AM Good morning BIGBLOCKDODGE,
Thanks for the kudos’. My son is almost as busy as I am with his college classes and day job but he insists the site is just around the corner. These units were done Saturday along with a few others. I hope you don’t mind us posting photos of your sill plates Ridgeln!

ridgeln 10-02-2005, 02:57 PM D'Oh! MIND? HECK NO!!!!!
5S Dude beat me to the posting of MY NEW SILL PLATES!!! I decided to customize the truck as to who sits where (with two boys, 5 & 7, it is often an issue - I hope that this helps with where they are). Now all I have to do is make sure that I put the sill plates on securely so that my wife (CR3ATIV) doesn't put HERS on the drivers side! (I do let her drive it on occasion, but she really does prefer her Subaru and Miata to my Ridge - go figure!)
5S Dude is awesome. So easy to work with - AND, he suggested the customizing of my wife's side sill (I was a rockhead and wanted RIDGELN on both sides - probably NOT a good idea - he suggested the name change on wife's side).

Hey SixOPRidge, I was gonna work on the sub-plate fixture to machine four complete sets of sill plates at a time. But I have not had any time to mess with it as I have a bunch of other guys putting the screws to me to get their stuff to them before the SEMA show. (Audi, Subaru, Titan & Toyota gurus) It gets like this every year right before the show (Last Minute Jobs), but it’s what I love to do so I can’t complain. To make a long story longer, Currently, it takes 5 to 6 minutes to cut the bar stock for four sets on an iron worker and 2hr 17 minutes of CNC machine cycle time per 4-piece set. So I can almost get 4-sets in an 8-hr day which I will quadruple when my new machine gets here. Keep in mind I’m a “one man band” so I’m eating my lunch, etc while the machines are in cycle. Thanks for asking. :)

5S Dude 10-04-2005, 08:02 AM Hello all ROC members,
Sill plate production has been postponed do to the fact that LadyRidge has informed us that these parts need some type of coating to protect them from road salts. It obviously does not snow here in California so we had not thought about it. I will update the ROC as soon as I get quotes back from the Powder-coating suppliers in my area. The door sill plates are machined from clear hard coat anodized 6061-T6 stock, however some of this stock is machined away during the process and needs protection from the elements. Thank you all for your patients, as we will not sell anything before it’s done right. We learn something new every day!

snowman 10-04-2005, 12:16 PM I have some sugestions about the finish of the door sill plates. You might consider getting them re-anodized (with a whole lot of color options) and of course powder coat is an option. But, becasue these are going to be recieveing a lot of impact type wear i believe that the powder coat will not last very long.
Some other options would be a polyester based clear coat, or make them out of stainless, this of course would increase the price and machine time -- but they would be essentailly bullet proof.
Of course since the current sills are aluminum they should hold up well to wear and tear -- except if they get wet -- if they begin to turn chalky or get little spots of white just take a little bit of sand paper to them, finish it up with steel wool and they will be good as new.
How do i know this? I am the production mamager at an aluminum foundry where we make all kinds of boring industrial stuff plus sculpture for artists so we have a lot of experience dealing with this finish issue.
one more idea -- you could plate them -- then they could come in all sorts of kick ass finishes ... and nickel is impossible to tarnish
DoctorJ 10-04-2005, 12:19 PM snowman, I am surprised. I would expect baked on powder coat to be extremely durable and anodizing to easily scratch.
swampler 10-04-2005, 12:24 PM So, do these sills fit over the existing ones? Or do you remove the existing sills first?
snowman 10-04-2005, 12:42 PM yea, anodizing can scrath easily but becasue it is a chemical reation is actuall extends a few mills below the surface -- so a light scrath would not be noticable. powder coat is great for abrasion resitance not impact resistance becasue it is essentially a heavy paint

Good morning SnowMan,
Thank you so much for your input! In reviewing the process options with the rest of the engineering group here at work a lot of discussion revolved around “Chem-Film”, Powder coating, Chrome plating, and anodizing. To anodize we would require the current parts to be striped of its hard coat finish (Very Costly) and some of our customers preferred not to have Chrome-Plated parts on their Ridgelines. Also anodizing in colors looks bitchen, however we have found that the colors fade in sunlight. Our consensus was to clear powder-coat them because of the cost factor. If any ROC members know of a cost-effective way of protecting these and other machined aluminum parts from the road salt please step forward. I do currently machine a number of stainless parts for the Hot-Rod industry, which are engine turned and had thought of utilizing this material for the doorsill project. However costs reared it ugly head and we went with aluminum, Big Mistake?.
Thanks guys. Maybe we could include a small jar of “Mothers aluminum polish” I’ll be all over this dilemma until it is resolved. Thank you again.
Ron

Hi rtboy1961,
Man! I may need your expertise if I don’t find a solution to combat good ole road salt!!
Snowman, my sources tell me the manganese bronze chem. film process would discolor the aluminum plus I can’t afford the costs. But thank you so much for your valued input.

5S Dude 10-10-2005, 06:54 PM Hello fellow ROC-Heads,
We have found a powder coating supplier who does aluminum sailboat parts. He has stated that these parts spend all their time in salt water so we are in the process of having a few billet parts clear coated.
At this point in time, I would like to know from our members, if any of you would prefer Chrome-plated sills as the costs are about the same? I’m just partial to the raw billet look but I will produce what you the customer like best. Thank you all for your patience in this matter. I’ll post a photo of a “Chrome” example I saw at the Off-Road Expo last weekend.
Ron
ridgeln 10-10-2005, 07:11 PM personally, I like the billet look. clear coat powder. The chrome is nice, but not as nice as the billet. Any ideas as to the "life expectancy" of both/either?

I see screws on this set. Are they CNC'd in for appearance or are they functional? Either way that is a real nice look.
5S Dude 10-10-2005, 07:32 PM To be honest, I do not know how long either process will last. I do know that the Chrome can be scratched very easily. When entering and exiting you’ll notice that you rarely actually step on them anyway. At least I don’t.
Yes, the Philips-Heads were used to secure these examples to the plastic on this truck.
The reason I did not use the screw method to secure the Ridgeline sill plates is I did not want owners to be forced to drill holes in their new trucks. Believe me; the 3M adhesive is much stronger than you might think and is removable should you decide to yank them and reinstall the plastic ones.
Cheers,
Ron
H20MAN 10-11-2005, 11:13 PM I too prefer the billet look. Let me know how things are coming and when they will be available. Thanks.
RLonfire 10-12-2005, 06:34 AM In my opinion billet would be the best choice, do to the fact that it will match the billet interior factory trim. I'm very interested on a set once you get started, and I hope you do. Please count me in ! Good luck !

5S Dude 10-26-2005, 10:00 PM Yea, I’ve had to rethink the door sill project. As you know from my posts, I’ve had to recall all of the sill plates except the second set off the machines and that owner powder-coated their sill plates themselves. I had to send them through a new triple-pass powder-coating process used on sailboat components which added a lot of additional costs to the end product. I had to absorb the shipping and coating costs and did not feel comfortable passing the coating costs on to interested club members. The billet door sills you see on post #51 have gone through the 3-stage powder-coating process. I will reconsider marketing these items after we return from the SEMA show in November. Thank you all so much for your interest. ROC-on:D
Ron
BannedUser 10-26-2005, 10:07 PM Keep up the great work Ron. YOU ROC!! :D
If anyone on here has even considered buying these, let me tell you, they helped me win 3rd place at the NOPI car show in CUSTOM TRIM class.
They are gorgeous and I used the tape in lieu of the screws. Ron is a very honest and proud man and I know he would not give you bad advice.
Thanks again buddy!!
J.C. :)
5S Dude 10-30-2005, 10:07 AM Thank you for the kudos J.C. I’ve learned so much from this experience. Our expertise is in designing and machining pre-production/prototype parts but have absolutely zero knowledge in marketing new products of our own. This will be the first seminar we attend at SEMA. Just like “swishman” and his product line, we want to make the term “Made in the USA” really mean something again with super high quality products that last a long time and that working people can really afford. It’s not as easy as it sounds but I strongly feel it is worth doing. I want to thank everyone here at the Ridgeline Owners Club for supporting our efforts. “Get er done in America!” :D
Ron
ridgeln 10-30-2005, 11:05 AM I need to echo JC's comments - these door sills are amazing! I finally installed them yesterday on my truck. The 3M tape holds better than the plastic trim sills. I've attached a couple photos - one of the door sill on the driver's side, one of the rear mud flaps (IMO, Honda should include these as standard equipment), one of the XM install I finally did of my MyFi, and one of the two "guard dogs."

bonerep 10-30-2005, 11:34 AM Those door sile look sharp.... Where did you get them?
ridgeln 10-30-2005, 11:48 AM 5S Dude made them - customized them for me ("my" side has RIDGELN - my wife has her custom plate name, and my 2 boys both have their names). Very easy to install. 5S Dude did beautiful work on them - they are a piece of art on my already good looking truck. PM him if you want more info - I know that what he originally thought would be a reasonable price had to go up due to the cost of clear powder coating the sills. Whatever the price increase, they are worth it if you want that customized look.

jaiden 11-05-2005, 08:33 PM 5S Dude, let me know when these are back on the market. I've seen LadyRidge's & Ridgeln's sills. They look great. And my wife agrees! (She even gave permission to buy them :) )
5S Dude 11-05-2005, 09:37 PM 5S Dude, let me know when these are back on the market. I've seen LadyRidge's & Ridgeln's sills. They look great. And my wife agrees! (She even gave permission to buy them :) )
Man! I so wish I could have driven the distance but we were in Vegas for the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association show drumming up business and gathering more ideas on what needs to be machined next. You guys look really great together as do your trucks! I can’t wait until J.C. gets the 1st Annual National Ridgeline Convention together! I’ll be first in line to be sure. Anyway, to answer your question. To be honest with you, after witnessing first hand how the foreign manufactures are copying everything under the sun and making cheap copies. I came back excited to see great new accessories for our Ridgelines being readied for market, but then a little deflated by all the cheap junk that will be dumped here from oversees. They had stamped aluminum door sill that had strips of flashing LED lights running their lengths for $35.00 wholesale!! And they didn’t look bad!! Oh well! We’ll have to see what the market wants. Cheap pooh-pooh or Aircraft grade trick billet parts, Made in America. Thank you so much for your interest.
ridgeln 11-06-2005, 05:33 PM 5S Dude -
JAIDEN beat me to it to tell you that he was interested in a set! My Ridge Rats proudly showed off their door sills (despite their father installing them on the wrong sides of the truck - was so excided I wasn't paying attention like I should have been).
The meet was great! We all had a good time - the photos only start to scratch the surface of the fun that we all had. I think my boys would have gone home with ANY of the other people that were there.
Based on talking with JAIDEN, I know he wants the USA high grade Aluminum Grade aircraft billet pieces.
National Meet? Look at my signature. We are already working on July (late in July) 2006. More later. PM me if you want to know tentative details.
5S Dude 11-06-2005, 05:54 PM Sounds excellent! I'm there.:p
I'm in 5S Dude, I've just been waiting for you to post the website so I can order. Are you going to give ROC-Heads advance notice so that we can get ours before the rest of the world beats a path to your door?

I've been working on a great number of things that effect costs. If I'm successful they will be back on the market at the same price quoted earlier in my post. I am fully confident the outcome will be worth the wait. Yes to answer your question. I have only offered these pieces on the ROC. and will continue to give the club members advance notice of any changes. Thank you so much for all your patience. :D Ron
5S Dude 12-04-2005, 01:10 PM Hello again my fellow ROC-Heads. Well as promised I have finally resumed production of our Ridgeline Billet Door Sills with the familiar custom one of a kind customer ordered engravings in very limited numbers priced at $180.00 for the four piece set. I’ve also cut a new more affordable model to add to the ever growing product line. I spent the rest of the afternoon cutting the fixtures that will be used to machine the new decorative billet cover for the “This is not an ashtray” door and its close cousin a billet version of the Dash Cubby-Cover.
I really appreciate everyone’s input regarding our new slot motif which I felt better matched the pattern on the floor of our trucks priced at $160.00 for a four piece set.
All of these billet accessories utilize the 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape with no holes to drill to mount them.
Thank you all very much for your thoughts on these new pieces.

Oh my gosh! Rawli, I had not even remembered who “Chance” was until I read J.C’s. post. This is very special indeed! I love your “backup camera” You have got to bring “Chance” to the SoCal meet when we all get together! I was thinking of primarily “louvering” all of the accessories above the door line and using the “New-Slot” pattern along the floor. However we will of course furnish any combination to club members. I guess we will surface both of our new products with “louvered-look” and New-Slot” patterns as well. Thank you all so much for your valued input.:D
Ron
bonerep 12-04-2005, 04:13 PM Ron,

ridgeln 12-04-2005, 06:29 PM 5S Dude -
WOW - great sills for BoneRep! Chance is one "lucky dog!" My RidgeRats love the canine backup camera idea. I think RR#1 would have our dogs in the truck as backup cameras any/every chance he could!
I consider myself lucky to be one of the few with this customization and can heartily endorse the workmanship, craftmanship, and care that 5S puts into these pieces. Anything he makes, I know I'll buy for my truck!
Can't wait to see the NAA and Cubby covers.

ridgeln 12-06-2005, 12:36 PM Plenty of space out here - come on down!!!! (or, over, or up...) Besides, as questioned on one of the threads, YES - 1/2 of all ridgeline owners live in Ohio. (totally unscientific poll - and besides, 68.323% of all statistics are made up)
as a side note: I was listening to the radio on the drive in to work yesterday - a woman called in to ask a question of the DJ about a contest. he ended up keeping her on line and asked her what she did - she works at the East Liberty Honda Plant (where the cars are made) - he then asked her "What Honda would you get if you had your choice?" Her answer? "RIDGELINE!" Wahoo! RR#2 re-stated her answer then said she would like to have MY truck! Glad to know at 7:15 am the little guy is awake :D

shovelhd 12-06-2005, 05:59 PM Ron,
I've built my share of custom bikes, using one-off billet way before it was the rage, and the Chinese manufacturers turned a good idea into mass production.
One word for your work - stunning.
I want a set. Whenever you are ready.
RIDGE PATROL 12-06-2005, 07:31 PM 5s dude can you repost the price again and when yhey will be available. thanks
5S Dude 12-06-2005, 07:55 PM Hi Frank, Ohio is so beautiful! We have vacationed with my sister in-law in Indy and I have relatives in Chicago so it would really be a nice drive to meet everyone at next years INTERNATIONAL RIDGESTOCK! But I also love the sunny weather here in SoCal. Thank you for the offer though.
Hello shovelhd, I would be honored to whittle a set for you. PM me and let me know which style suits your tastes. I can also combine the “Louvers” or “Short-Slots” pattern with any custom engraving and font you desire. Have you seen our new “Short-Slots” pattern on page 9 of the post? I felt that it is a better match with the pattern on our floor mats. Thanks so much for your interest.
Hi RIDGE PATROL, You can review any page of the post from the upper and lower right hand corners of the forum at any time.
The original “Louvered” Door Sills with custom engraving is $180.00 and the new “Short-Slots” version with the Ridgeline Logo are $160.00 We can custom engrave these as well for an additional $20.00
Thank you as well.
These pieces are not available in stores or offered on any other website. They are for ROC members only and in limited numbers as our club is growing at a very fast clip.
My web site is done and will be up soon. Thanks again.:D

“drdk” and “panguard” had ordered “Short-Slots” standard version and “Jaiden” has a “Short-Slots” version with custom engraving. The forth one is a “one-off” pre-production prototype of the Special Edition Ridgeline owners club version for T-mac! I’ve got a little more hand work to do but it looks really cool! 5S Dude 12-29-2005, 10:17 PM Good evening gang! I’ve just got home from three consecutive 12 hour days of door sill production and I picked up the door sills for Jaiden, MR-J, paguard, and drdk on my way home from the powder-coaters. I will be applying the 3M tape to each set and delivering them to the UPS store on Friday. The following photos are of T-Mac’s pre-production prototype door sill plates with our own Ridgeline owners club.com logo engraved on the two front plates and the custom sills for ingo b. The other sills machined during the 3-day’er were the standard version for rtraviator and inventory stock. These billet door sills will soon be available through our own “Honda Ridgeline Owners Club Merchandise” during the first quarter of 06’ and I’d like to take this time to thank you all for supporting me during this project and I look forward to serving the members of this great club with other club related goodies with our club logo engraved on them very soon. :p

mugen1 01-08-2006, 09:53 PM I am looking for a hitch step. Lund has one that is foldable, which I like bacause my RL barely fits into the garage as it is. 5S Dude 01-25-2006, 01:11 PM Say 5SDude what the deal with the power coating...
The pre production prototype door sills were first machined on a manual milling machine and were sent to a few "Hardcore" members and as luck would have it, there were sent to places that throw salt on the roads to help prevent freezing ice buildup. This was something I had never experienced before so I went searching for a cost-effective solution to protect my billet pieces from this gawd awful road salt, which is highly caustic to raw aluminum. Well, I found a company that powder-coats sailboat components and it is a three-step process, which builds a thick protective layer over the top of the already hard coat anodized aluminum. They should last a very long time considering many of these sailboats spend their entire life in the saltwater. The costs continue to escalate as do the handling and the shipping but I am always making continuous improvements to the machining process and finding new way to save time / money.
If for any reason you are not comfortable with this or any other of the above mentioned processes, please do not hesitate to cancel your order. I want complete and total customer satisfaction. It is the only real way to do business. IMHO.
mayfielh 01-25-2006, 01:25 PM The coat really makes them look nice. At 1st I thought there are a plastic shrink wrap over them because they are so smooth. I kept trying to find the edge and finally realized that this was the powder-coat.
minihummer 01-25-2006, 02:43 PM Thanks for the insight, and NO please don't cancel my order :D
P.S. 5SDude please check your P.M.

I have not had a second to devote to the billet Cubby-Cover or anything else for that matter. The door sill deal is getting much larger than I had ever anticipated. However I will continue to search for a slice of time to do a prototype soon. Don’t worry as I won’t let it go! I can tell you this much. It won’t shake, rattle, wooble or leak water when finished it is………….Heehe:p
5S Dude 01-29-2006, 06:33 AM Good morning ROC-heads,
Saturday was a bust!! The air compressor that has supplied the shop with air finally gave up the ghost after 42 years! The CNC’s all require compressed air to run. We’ve got a new one ordered and should arrive Tuesday of next week. I will take next Thursday & Friday off of my day job and run production so we will remain on schedule. Your sills along with the rest of this weeks orders will continue to be on time regarding the machining process. The powder-coating schedule however, is entirely up to my supplier as I am very small potatoes as compared to his normal customer base. Thank you so much for your patience in this matter. I will continue to keep you abreast of any changes.
Ron (5S Dude)
beast644 01-29-2006, 03:02 PM I just spent the last hour catching up on this thread...19 pages!! And I have to say that the sill plates are beautiful pieces of work. Very nicely done Ron!! I wont bogg you down with another order quite yet but you can be sure there will be one coming!!
beast644 01-29-2006, 06:10 PM Ok, so this proposal will either make 5S Dude laugh or thow up considering the current state of his shop, but I am curious to see what other ROCers take is on this. Last weeked I shaved my rear badges (which looks really nice) and I attended a Scion Owners Event with one of my friends. One of the cars had the cars make (xB) layed into the trimwork they did on their dash (sorry didnt take a photo). I liked how it looked in the car so I tried to figure out if I could do something similar with my car. There is a picture of the results below but it just doesnt look right to me, its kinda tacky. But i think a Billet version of a similar design would be a nice addition to the interior. I put some design ideas below so you can try and imagine what it could look like. Let me know what you think... Tacky or Cool??
5S Dude 01-29-2006, 10:17 PM Hey there beast644, I promise not to laugh or barf! I’m actually flattered to be honest with you. It is so funny that you have the tailgate logo mounted on your dash because I thought for a second of doing the exact same thing. However, if it was a little smaller it might look like it was meant to be mounted there. Below is a photo of my blanked tailgate and the CAD rendition of what I was planning to machine someday for a cubby cover.
Where did you get your silver dash cover? It looks a little different than the OEM version. ROC-on my friend!
rtraviator 01-30-2006, 04:29 AM ... Tacky or Cool??
Way KEWL! I think it looks great, though I'm waiting for S5 Dude to "market" his flip down cubby cover. Get on it Ron... just kidding!!!:)
TL
I think it looks pretty good honestly. The only thing that could make it better is if there was a way to sink it in a bit rather than have it adhered to the outside.. If you could flush it that would be awesome..
I'm a little curious as to how the cubby hole cover will look in all billet, but I'm sure if it's in 5S's head, it'll be awesome.. haha..
Now stop posting 5S and go fix the cnc.. I'm Jonsing.. hehehe.. j'k

Our new air compressor won’t be delivered till Wednesday!!! Dog gone it. I really shouldn’t complain because it did last my dad 40+years! Anyhow, did you guys see the little sample of the cubby cover posted above? It’s kinda hard to see cause it’s a jpg, but it shows the basic outline and will be louvered like the door motif and the Ridgeline logo will be pocketed about an eighth of an inch deep with a custom vinyl chrome like sticker planted into the pocket. Gimme yer thoughts.:D

paguard 01-30-2006, 05:10 PM Yes Ron, I want one too!!! I decided to wait until the end of winter to mount my door sills, and I'd love to pair the sills with the cubby cover to finish the look. Any thoughts on how you are going to mount the cubby cover yet?
Hey beast644, I like the look but with 3 kids I'd be concerned that they might pick at it, or get something caught on it. Nice touch though.

Hey buddy,
First, I'd like to take a moment to thank the few members that had stepped up to the plate and help find a suitable hinge. Thanks!
The original "Dash Cover" utilizes a single hinge and when closed it becomes an obstruction because of the way in which it folds. I had contemplated using twin hinges to help stabilize the unit from movement but it would just add to the cost and be twice the obstruction when fully closed. Secondly, it appears that the mounting “plate” could use more screws as well but I would really prefer a set of flat head stainless screws with “nyloc” nuts to fasten the unit to the roof of the cubby (no shake, rattle or roll). Of course this would require the removal of that section of dashboard to fasten the unit properly.
Wait, it gets worse! The two hinges would add substantial cost as would the CNC’d billet cover and frankly, for the money Brian is charging I’m really surprised at how close his unit actually comes to fulfilling all of our expectations. If any of you out there has the solution to the manner in which we can attach the cover, Please step forward as I will personally donate the first prototype to any club member who is able to engineer a solution. :D
bonerep 01-30-2006, 06:56 PM I accept that challange and will be providing you a design with in a week. I was thinking of having one made for me but I'll pass it on to you when I return from Colorado next week.

5S Dude 01-31-2006, 09:47 AM To Bonerep; Hey buddy, Have a great time in Colorado! See ya soon.
To Panguard; Don’t feel bad! I’ve used 200mph tape to hold a great many things together so as to get home in one piece.
Hi bikr, There is no spring loaded activity in this design?
The only coil is in the plunger to keep the lid up gravity will hold it closed.
added another image, wanna talk there about the design so we don't hijack this thread.. :)
beast644 01-31-2006, 10:46 AM ...Where did you get your silver dash cover? It looks a little different than the OEM version...
The Dash Trim is OEM, the dealer tried to convince me not to get it because he didnt like how it looks... I love it!!
I am working on a hinge design for the cubby cover as well, i will post the results on Bikr's thread. You have a GREAT looking truck!! heres a pic of mine de-baged. Great minds think alike :D
Thanks! Unfortunatly for me the truck in my sig is 100% photoshopped.. ;) And I won't hold your UM hitch cover against you either.. I'm working on some more renders of my hinge.. hopefully my idea will make more sense as time passes haha.. Nice Ride btw!!

We've had lots of salt around here, but alas, not much snow (still haven't had a chance to use my new Honda snow blower). My sills (which have been on for quite a while now) have help up beautifully - at this point, my care for them has been a damp cloth to wipe them down. Still look like new!

tlaudio 02-05-2006, 12:15 PM Ok, as promised here are the pictures of my Custom set.
If you are wondering if these are as good as they look - Well THE ARE BETTER THAN THE PICTURES!
They are a lot thicker than others I have seen. They are solid! Since it has been very cold out, I used a hair dryer to heat up the sills and the doors before applying. (The stock sills can be pry-ed off with your hands)
Ron, you do some AWESOME work!
The powder coating is worth the wait! As others have mentioned, it does look like they are wrapped in a thick layer of plastic. Nope, just the clear powder coating. The Powder coating alone will protect them for years down the road!
The hardest decision on this purchased was what custom design I wanted!

Yes, we have the license plate surround in CAD but I kinda promised LadyRidge that our focus would be on machining the cubby cover and finding a suitable hinge arrangement. I have challenged our membership to come up with a workable solution to the hinge and have offered the first prototype to any member that comes up with a working answer.

Until we get the ROC merch page setup you may pm or email me with your requests. If the standard "Ridgeline logo" is prefered they run $160.00 for the four sill plates. If you require custom engraving these start at $180.00 and I submit a jpg file for your approval after which they are machined and coated with a two to three week turn around. You may send paypal to my email address when photos of the finished pieces are posted. Thank you for your interest in this product.:D

Truckin' 02-26-2006, 11:35 AM Ron, you just keep getting better and better, making your door sills a must have accessory. When I can free up some discretionary funds, this is getting higher on my list of the next great thing to add to the Ridgeline!
5S Dude 02-26-2006, 12:42 PM Thank you for the Kudo’s gang! I just got a message from T-Mac and these Billet Door Sills will be available from our “New ROC Store Front” being readied in a few weeks!!! Yeah Baby!
“Billet goodies exclusively available only from the Ridgeline Owners Club”
Hey Truckin, You have got to talk “Big Guy” into coming out to Disneyland and then just make a little side trip to our “SoCal Meet & Greet” on the way! Then I could just give you guys a set!!!! Either way, we’ll save some special time for your door sills! I promise…….
We will have our noon time lunch meet & greet happening on March 18th! That way everyone has the time to get back home before the traffic gets too nuts! We are also giving away a complete set of standard Billet Door Sills to the Ridgeline owner that travels the furthest distance for this event!
Be sure to bring as many new owners as you can to this event as I will personally giveaway one complete set of custom engraved billet door sill sets to the ROC-head who brings in the most newbee's to our get together.
