2008 CD audio whine

I have a 2008 RTL /navi and I have this really bad whine (sounds like the alternator) when playing cd's. I do not get this whine playing AM/FM/XM(converted to Sirius), AUX input or the navi turn instructions. Any suggestions before I take it back to the dealer? :confused:

Since you've converted the XM to Sirius there's probably some kind of wiring modification or adapter. I strongly suggest you remove those before taking it to the dealer. There's a good chance that the modifications are not properly shielded and are the cause of the problem. If so the dealer will, and should, charge you for the diagnosis. Could be quite expensive.

I'm not saying that the modifications are the problem, but the dealer has to consider them as a cause.

I'd bet it's your mods. Sounds like a bad ground.

I get a loud whine whenever I drive with my teenage son and I play my "Best of Burt Bacharach" CD. The whine seems to be coming from the passenger seat and continues until I turn off the CD and change over to a music station. :D
