I left my XM expire after the trial, because I couldn't justify the cost (even the $77 deal), because I don't drive much.
Well, today my wife says they called and offered a deal to reconnect for $4/month for the first 6 months? Anybody heard of this?
I figure there's some catch, like you have to sign a 3 year contract at the normal rate or something. Anybody know for sure? I don't want to call back to find out it's a rip.

TG98, just be sure to get the details. Could be a "bait & switch" kind of thing. Just be SURE you don't give them your credit card for the payment. If you do, they'll bill you for the full amount when the special deal is over. My advice is to accept the $4/mo. deal, and make sure they BILL you....no advance payment of any kind. And if the deal actually does come through, you've scored a 3-pointer from mid court. :D

When I had my 07 CRV I did this and there was no catch. I used if for six months and then cancelled it with no problems.

My freebee ran out a couple of weeks ago!! I have heard nothing from them. Sort of miss it but hard to justify when I don't really drive that much.

You will. It's been almost a month since mine expired...I sorta figured I was done with it.
I may call tonight and see if I can get the specifics. I'll post what I find out (assuming nobody beats me to it).

Same thing happened to me. The trial expired and about 6-8 weeks went by before I got a mailing with a proposed deal if i subscribe. Then the mailings came every week or two. Then I called and set up the $77 deal. :) I figured i'd lock in before the new lineup releases (i hear in October?).

TCape hit it right on the head.
The deal is $19.99 for 5 months (avg of $3.99/mo). But:
1) You have to call if you want to cancel, and
2) You HAVE to pay by credit card.
At least, I wasn't able to convince her to bill me. Oh well, I was hoping. Still, a good deal if you didn't think they would stick it to you later.

I just did the same thing and I have done it before with other offers in the past and nothing unexpected came up. I was charged exactly what they said i would be charged.

Did they stop after it expired? Or did you stay after it and call to cancel/extend afterwards?
I thought of a scheme, where I could get a prepaid credit card for the right amount, and give them that. Then, they have no way to charge any more to it. But maybe I'm being paranoid...
