Congrats on the new truck!
The forum search tool should be able to help you ID some tonneau options - its one of the more frequently discussed things here. Keeping under the 500 limit will be tough but if you go to a place like realtruck.com, you can search by vehicle application and there is an "Access" cover and a "Torza top" cover that are under 500 bucks. I'd find one you like and come back here and do a search on the product name to get the various reviews and comparisons here.

Welcome to the ROC and congrats on getting a great truck.
The roll up cannister does take up a bit of space at the front, but honestly, how often do you think you'll have your truck bed packed to the gills? Maybe you will, but I would encourage you to not rule them out so quickly. Of course you won't find one within your budget, so perhaps that is the overriding decision factor.
Good luck with your search. You will find a mountain of information already posted on this decision you're facing.

RLSoldier, welcome to the ROC, and congrats on getting your Ridgeline!
I researched bed covers for weeks after I got my RL, and finally decided on the Retrax. It's a retractable cover, so it may not be what you want, based on your initial post. But the room the cannister takes up has been a non-issue for me. Might be a good idea to check into them if you haven't already looked at one. If it turns out you really don't want a retractable cover, check the Search Function on this site for "bed cover" or "tonneau cover", and you'll find tons of information on all kinds of covers. Good luck with your search!

Some of the soft roll up ones are in your budget, I came real close to the Torza or some other one in the $300 plus or minus range before I went for the bakflip group buy. I love the top and am glad I went for solid rather than soft.

I looked for one around that price point also, but really wanted a hard cover so I weent a couple of hundred more and ended up ordering a Bakflip. It should be in this week <fingers-crossed>.
Good luck,
Allen

Hi:
I went for the Honda Toneau Cover and wish I waited. I lost a lot of bed space, but was anxious to cover the bed with something. I am looking to change it up the road. I have 94,000 on my 2006 and it's still running sweet.

How easy is it to remove the Honda Bedcover? Does it require tools or does it snap in and out?

Hi WEST TX RIDGELINE:
I'm not sure if you're talking about my Honda Tanneau Cover, but if you are, it's a bear of a job getting it in and out...
Like I said, I wish I waited for an after market cover....
Good luck with whatever you get..

I went with a Etang Trafecta cover for $377 from autoanything. I was easy to install, folds up out of the way in a flash or removes by loosening two wing nuts. Fit and finish was excellent. Only gripe was they didn't file the ends of the rails smooth after cutting them to length. A file quickly smoothed the ends. Took about 10 days from the time I ordered until it arrived. It seems like a good valud for the money.

The choice really depends on your needs, I have the OEM and it works great for my needs..

I've had the Truxedo on my RL and have no complaints. Bought it from Realtruck. It installs with no drilling using existing hardware and has stood up to a Chicago winter.:D
