Fog Light Debate...

So I'm thinking I like the look of the OEM fogs, but don't like the price or the fact that I have to rip apart my bumper to install them...

I have been checking out some other options to mount in the holes below the grille... or even hacking my grill to insert some big ol' round ones ala the new (and classic) Mustangs...

Either way I'd want to use the OEM switch, which as I understand is not exactly user friendly with aftermarket lights...

Bit concerned about the effectiveness of the OEM fogs... I guess I am not really looking for fogs per say, but more interested in driving lights...

Decisions, decisions... Opintions would be much appreciated...

I put a brush gaurd on my 07 and mounted fog lights on it.I went down to my dealer and got the factory switch and harness and used them for the factory look in side.I had a local audio shop hooked up the lights.:)

I installed OEM fog lights on my 06 RTL; it wasn't that complicated. I downloaded and used the instructions from HandA accessories: http://www.handa-accessories.com/ridgeline/foglights.pdf
Plus their prices are always cheaper than my dealers, so I had dealer price match. Best of all, OEM want void factory warranty? The bumper has precut marks on the interior, and the firewall is prewired. The hardest part was finding the tools I needed and keeping my bumper from getting scratched.

I am fully capable of tearing the bumper apart and doing the work, I'm just totally lazy... However, if it's a matter of being lazy or being cheap, cheap almost always wins. :D

Gotta still mull it around a bit, but I do appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and throwing in their two cents (keep it coming!).

I'd really like to find a low profile brush guard / pusher thingamajig that really follows the lines of the truck... The OEM one does not fit me and I am yet to find any aftermarket options that really excite me... That could answer a lot of the debate because I could just mount some killer lights on it and be done.

I'd like to see more of your set-ups of brush guards with fog lights and other mounting options...

So far this summer I added the bakflip G2, pop n lock, and the hitch wiring harness. next year the speakers get upgraded if I add an aftermarket nav/radio.

But the fog lights are next.

I will get the OEM ones and I want to paint the recess areas to match the rest of the body. Not sure when but it's the next project on the list.

I had the dealer install the fogs as part of the deal. I just didn't have the heart to cut into my RTLs' bumper.

I've had fog lights on every car I've owned for the past 15 years. The OEM on the R-L are as good as any. :D

#1 Get the OEM lights and have them painted before the install.
#2 They wont work with Hi beams on unless you Mod them abit.
#3 If you want some serious light replace the factory bulbs with aftermarket bulbs.
#4 Do both. You have plenty of switch bays in the cab.
#5 Dont waste time with a backup camera. Cause it's useless at night. Instead go get more lights and install those under your rear bumper they will shed some seriouslight on all the shiaat you can't see in the dark(also slow down ass holes riding your bumper)

All OEM Fog lights that are not painted to colormatch look like $$$$$$$
