06silverridge 09-03-2008, 11:07 AM Whats up fellas. I've just seen the 09 Honda Ridgeline accessories and love the anodized black roof rack. They sell a rack for my year Ridge but it only comes in silver. At one point I was considering purchasing that one and powder-coating it black. But, since it comes OEM from Honda in 09, I obviously would rather buy that one. Does anyone know, or have an educated guess if that 09 accessorie will fit my 06 RTS. Thanks
larryr 09-03-2008, 12:07 PM since only the front and read bumpers and the dash and engine are different all accessories from the 2009 except the wheel flares and chrome bumper and front brush guard add ons should fit the older Ridgelines.

The 2009 roof rack should fit, but I work for Honda and can't get an answer! Our associate service shop doesn't know, nor does the Marysville, OH dealer. All the service shop would say is that the new roof rack has you removing 10mm more of the black 'striping' (forget what it's called) when installing. He also said that Honda won't come out and say whether the black will fit on the 2006-2008 for fear that the older ones won't sell.
I wish I knew, I have the old-style on order to be installed in 6 days, but would prefer the all-black 2009 one on my white RTL!!

Shep53 10-11-2008, 05:09 PM In another thread, I saw a older Ridgeline with the new black roof rack. It does look nice. What I did, almost two years ago, was I had the anodized parts powder coated with a texture black powder. They look great and match the rest of the rack, not to mention it's very durable.
JPA2002 10-11-2008, 05:44 PM I have the black rack to go on my 06 and will be able to tell you on Monday. I did remove it from the box and the lengths and everything look identical. I think Honda does not want people buying the black ones since they have a ton of silvers to sell.

JPA2002 10-12-2008, 03:56 PM Well guys, I installed the 09 roof rack on my 06 today, and they are exactly the same. I even used all of my old hardware including endcaps. The only difference that I saw is that the crossbars do not have the rubber strip in them like the 06 silver rack. The length and everything is the same. Hate to say it, but Honda just wants people to buy the older racks before they say that the 09 will fit our older models.
OK, here is an update. I did install the old caps on the new rack, but went back and took a look and there are subtle differences in the caps. The key changes are that they added a clip on the front to keep the front cover from blowing off? Never had issues with the old design. The middle cover has some notches on it to hold it on better, and nothing on the rear cover.
Pics attached of my truck!
Before and after pics. Well before with mods. The truck was a stock RTL when I purchased it in 06.

RkyMntHigh 03-06-2009, 09:03 AM Has any one used the 09 INSTRUCTIONS to install the all black on an 06-08 model? Did you use all the parts or did you change anything?

bigwilliestyle 05-27-2009, 02:09 PM Quick question...
For those who have installed the 09 roof rack on the 06-08 models, did you follow the 09 instructions exactly?
i.e. cutting the rubber strip differ between the 2 types of racks. Assuming the roof is the same in all model years, indicates minor modifications to the 09 rack, so we should follow the 09 instructions regardless of model year?
Thanks!
JPA2002 05-28-2009, 05:59 AM No, follow the directions for your year model of truck when cutting the top molding pieces.
