2009 Meet Committee - We need your help!

For the 2009 International Combo Meet, we will be putting together a committee to organize, plan and make all arrangements. As most of you know who have attended previous events, this thing continues to grow and grow. It has become way too much work for me, Julie and Larry on our own.

Now, I'm sure we probably have a hundred people who are willing to volunteer for this committee. This is not and will not be a political thing. We will, however, need to place some preference with people who (1) have some experience with this sort of thing, (2) have some connections, (3) have some time and also (4) live in the area of the 2009 event. Surely that stuff makes sense.

I'm starting a second thread to solicit votes for a location for 2009. Let me be clear about something...post the location and some details on why it's a good spot. If you post a location with a "me too", I'm going to delete it. We'll vote on locations later. Right now, I want suggestions on where to go and why. And please, think about a place that will bring in the most members possible.

As we form the committee (with members from all of my Honda sites), we'll look at the various suggested locations. The committee will post up the official polls to see who would go if it were in city 1, city 2, and so on. From there, the committee will make the final choice.

For now, please email me (tom at siteworthy dot com) if you want to apply for the lovely voluntary job of being on the committee.

Also, typing that last line got me thinking...the national meet takes months - not weeks or hours. Granted, maybe you're going to help on just a certain part of the meet. But, I'm just asking that people apply only if you are willing to really commit to this. It's kinda crazy in March/April/May when you start realizing that you have 200 or so people coming from 30+ states to an event you are organizing. So, we have to make it worth everyone's while.

Thanks all!

Tom I'll try and help out as I did for the St. Louis meet. But the sooner I have a date the better.

I will have any number of couples getting engaged over the Holidays and will be setting dates for their weddings soon after. The further out I know the better chance I have of going. In 2008 I missed it because of a wedding, had it been the weekend before or after I could have gone.

Let me know what I can do.;)

There are a thousand details to these events, don't know why Tom just can't think of every one!!

can I add???

A place with various accomodations. There are some RL and alot of E people that would perfer to camp. Some prefer full ammenity hotels and some not so much.

Please keep me in the communication circle, I'd like to help where ever I can.

Thanks for the information...wonder if it's still a "go" for the Pigeon Forge area?

We tried for the Honda Plant in Alabama and ran into obstacles at every corner; tour and lodging. Maybe next year. We are looking at Pigeon Forge; follow links below!!
