2009 Combo Meet Dates and Info

The official 2009 EOC/ROC/CRVOC/ODYOC combo meet weekend is June 26, 27, 28.

There will not be one super mega-meet in a single location this year. Instead, we want to have multiple, large, regional meets all over the United States and Canada. So, it won't be our biggest combo meet in one location, but this will end up being our biggest overall attendance meet(s) ever.

Who's running the regional meets?
Answer: You are.

More details coming soon.

Will these details affect the planning of the Regional Meets?

No. I encourage everyone to start working on details for your own complete regional-area meets so you can announce details to those in your region plenty in advance.

This is going to turn out even better than we planned, because I'm already hearing from some people who are going to try to attend meets in two regions in the same weekend. :) ROAD TRIP!

So do I read this as regional meets on the same weekend all over?

Yes, Kevin. A multi-location National Meet all held on the same weekend!

Well, the dates are a little iffy for me (wheat harvest can run long or short), but if someone wants to try for a middle of the country meet it would at least not be as far to go as Ohio or Alabama. Tom had me a little confused saying we could all run our own meets LOL. Be kinda dull just sitting by our trucks by ourselves.

How's the Dallas/ Fort Worth area for a meet?

Just get on I-35 and head south.

Well, I'll have to keep an eye open for the national meet. I live in Minnesota, planning a potential trip to Denver sometime this year, and am going to be working in Jackson,TN in the spring for about a month. So I will need to see how things pan out...

Sincerely,
David

Tmac,
Can we get more details? I see some regions have started to plan for it and other have not. Other than joining the ROC and other OC clubs, how can we get intouch with our counterparts to plan wher every one wants to meet. For my region I still say Yellow Stone

Am I correct, are there really only two ROC National/Regional Meets in the planning stage? I don't think this is what was anticipated. :(

Sadly, for those who like these events, I think you are correct.

I followed the midwest meet thread(just incase it was held somewhere I could pop in for a half day), & noticed the midwest "E"-crowd pretty much planned their own meet with little thought to RL owners attending.

cest la vie

Our Mid-Atlantic Meet is open to them, but there are very few takers. They have their own Regional planned less than 90 miles from ours, so it's understandable. I agree Jim, I can't think of any E Meets that have been listed here on the ROC.

It's a shame, but perhaps the concept of a 'combo' meet is not as appealing as some might think. Those that bought Elements did so for a reason...that's there vehicle of preference. Likewise for us RL owners.

So, the only solution is come to Sedona!! We are 100% RLs and will probably have a bigger crowd than anything in June! :p Perhaps I should rename it the 'Unofficial RL National Meet! :D

They just got their act together and did it.

In the mid-atlantic area, people have a choice of two meets so they can attend the one that suits them better (amusement park or outdoor activities and hanging out around campfires). I've looked at the EOC based meet in WV, looks pretty cool as Antietam battlefield is close by as well as the town the meet is in is also a Civil War attraction. pretty cool.

I was just making an observation & agreeing with pizzaman, I have no horse in this race, and have just been following the threads out of boredom.

Maybe they did not get the same message that we got on the ROC!! I posted all the details on their site with no hits in several months!! I just think they want to do their own thing!! I have no problem with that!!

I thought Hershey Park was a nice location because some members have kids.
that might enjoy what the park has offer.
