The ScanGauge II cable simply plugs into the the OBD II port under the dash approximately in the area of you right knee. Other than that, no wiring involved. Many members have mounted their gauge in the NAA, I mounted mine up by the rearview mirror, using some brackets that I made. I find it is a much more natural location to view as I am driving.

Yep. As was stated, installation is a breeze. The hardest part is deciding where to mount it. Reference the scangauge threads here in the ROC for pics of each location that SG users have chosen. Some have "built them in", while others have made them easily detachable (for use in another vehicle to find codes, and such).
However, strict attention must be paid to the setup/calibration procedures after it is hooked into the OBDII port.
Follow the instructions in the manual for setting the tank size, etc... and realize that the calibration will span two fillups (at least), so plan on filling up at the same station, same pump (if possible).
After that, the only adjustment necessary will be an up or down adjustment of the fuel loaded at each fillup.

Enjoy! :)

With all the electronic data flowing around in the RL, I'm curious if the air pressure readings from the TPMS is available to the SGII? Is that data available via the OBDII port?

TPMS data is provied via the OBDII port, but I don't know if the ScanGauge can read it or not.

If not, that would be a nice upgrade to the SGII.

There is a coding manual on the Scangauge website. Who has the expertise to figure it out?

This was the tread

I used to install in the Not an Ashtray compartment. When you see the cable and look under the dash where your right knee will be, you will see and recognize the port that the cable fits into. The instructions and pictures in the manual were hard to see. This thread was useful and go to their website for better pictures.:)

i figure to just reply to this thread rather than creating a new one. i'll be purchasing an obd2 scanner made by innova. has anyone heard this brand? also, generic questions on obd's. do all scanners need to be hooked up to your computer? if so, what is the purpose of hooking it up? i apologize in advance if the question is stupid..:o if all scanners are computer ready, are they MAC compatible?

thanks

J2K99, I can't say anthing about the scanner made by innova but the ScanGauge doesn't connect to my home computer at all. Only to the OBD connection under my dash.

thanks for the info bruce

i think innova is another brand available in toronto. i could order a scanguage via online, but i don't seem to find any stores who have these. i spoke to the auto parts store where i will be purchasing it and it seems that by hooking it up to your computer you can print out the results. all i really want to be able to do is get the code and reset the engine light. i've noticed that since buying the rtl in nov, the engine light has come on 3 times and its always the same code regarding the emissions P0456.
