Well if all goes well, I should have my credit cards paid in full by end of 09 and preparing to be buying my first home by jan 2010!!!!! Those are my resolutions... oh OH! and quitting smoking! That habit is super duper expensive! I should move to SoCal where the air is sooo thick in certain nights LOL .... I got your letter thank you :) It made me all happy to see a nice warm note vs mean cold bill in the mail! LOL but all in all... I have resolutions:
1. QUIT SMOKING! <-- I will try super hard.... I need to save my money and life
2. Pay down all credit card bills.<-- should be easy with certain amount being paid to it before getting my funds in the bank acct!
3. scrub up my credit all around.<- paying my debt every month as I have but paying off debt!!!! Oh yeah two for one in this one.
4. Pre approval for new home after I have done everything needed to give my credit a bump... My question though... anyone know what is required for buying a home.... like preparations? Help me with some solicited advise lol

Loving the low gas prices too.
But we all know it is temporary. A possible weather disturbance, unrest somewhere in oil producing countries (like that could happen...), an Exxon CEO has stomach pains, just about anything... and we're screwed again.
I wouldn't buy a vehicle today unless I was figuring for $3.50/gal. US

hahahaha Seriously! Yeah hey you know my ford friends and toyota friends are totally jealous that my pick up is not a gas hog!!!!!! So that's enough for me to stick out my tongue and say NA NA NA NA NAAAA NAAAA! HAHAHA! lol :D

Veronica, good to hear from you. And I celebrate your decision to nix the credit cards. I read recently that there's about $3,000 in credit card debt for every man, woman and child in America. Great to see that you'll bring down the average! Hope you check out Dave Ramsey and his theories on reducing debt. Some very good advice for anyone. Best wishes to you in buying your first home. Something you'll always remember...no matter how rich you get in your "advanced years." You're focused financially...you'll accomplish anything you want to.

My brother just quit (2 months ago and counting) after being a heavy smoker for 42 years. If he can do it, so can you. Yippee! No cigs to buy or to make everything around you stink.

Your other resolutions are admirable too. Do you belong to a credit union? I recommend that for the place to finance your home. The larger CUs will have a credit specialist who will tell you what to focus on to improve your credit score.

As for quitting smoking... I need to wait until feb 15th check so I have the money to buy the patches... :( And go with mom to costco or sams whichever she can do so I get em cheaper...
As for sensible... Not too sure but I try!!! LOL So we'll have to visit for a while when you get down here in April!!!!! I would love for us to just chillax and discuss changes and life and stuff! LOL I miss you guys!!!!! How's pa doin!?

Veronica, if you haven't heard of Dave Ramsey, please take a moment and check out his website.... http://www.daveramsey.com/ He has a book that's been ont he NY Times best seller list for months. It's called the "Total Money Makeover", and is the best literature on money management I've seen anywhere. Excellent advice for anyone seeking to do a good job managing their money. (Ain't that all of us!)

Dave Ramsey has a talk show on XM every afternoon, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. He also has a show on the FOX business channel. WELL worth listening to. Best of luck to you in your financial persuits.
