First question: Will Sirius still honor the $77/year?
Second question: Anyone else notice that they do a lot more talking on Sirius music channels? As in several minutes of the host talking at a time. I had to look at my radio for a second to make sure I wasn't on an FM channel. They also promote a lot fo artists and their concerts which is nothing but commericials IMO. I see a class-action lawsuit in their future.

Due to the merger things are changing every day at Sirius XM. What was XM is quickly fading away. They have to maintain the legacy technology, but the people and programming that was XM is quickly being absorbed into Sirius. Many of the people are gone and the programming is being combined (other than the contractual features to each).
XM had better subscription deals if you were willing to try to get them. I fully expect those to go away as time goes on.

First Question....no.....I had Sirius installed in my wife's Lexus for Christmas.....I can tell you they will not do the $77 deal.....they still have separate data bases and could not see my XM account to verify my $77 for the last 3 years deal.....in time maybe, but I spent an hour on the phone talking to people who could not speak english.....
Second Question.....yes.....I concur.....I liked pure XM alot better.....

Yearly subscription deals, sure, but there was no deal like the $500 lifetime deal that I have for Sirius. I'm still on my first tuner, the SIR-KEN1 in my Ridgeline. I can change the tuner two more times to keep up with technology.

I am very disappointed in the merger and subsequent changes. Way too much yacking on the "all music channels", it’s not ads, just worthless banter. I have 4 subscriptions (cars/house/office); it is on all day.

I am feeling quite of opposite of you guys. I have had Sirius (GTI and Passat) and XM (Ridge) both for over 2 yrs. I think that pre merger Sirius's programming was way better. Their channels are more diverse.. they play more of the music I like. XM was boring.
Now... I am very happy that I can listen to some of my favorite Sirius channels on XM now..
I love it.
I agree... that the DJ's get annoying for sure. Especially Madison... she is super annoying.
Anyway, explore a little bit of the programming...
I recommend:
Classic Vinyl
Faction
Alt Nation
Spectrum
Shade 45 (by far the worst channel for dj's talking)
etc... etc..

I renewed my XM service in my ridge and my wife's accord yesterday. got them both for $77 each. (second year in a row) At first they said no-way they would not do it. So when I said fine cancel both vehicles, their "Tune" changed quickly. Only took 1 call this year last year took several. I guess $77 each is better for them than $0 each. BTW I also prefer the pre-sirus XM all music.

Pardon me if I am incorrect, I thought when you had one account you could get a discount on the second account, vehicle.
I did that when my son installed the XM in his car--we paid the $77 a year for the RL and for the Civic is was like $6 a month. About the same as $77 but a litte cheaper.
Is that correct and has anyone tried to get the discount on the second car?
My son totalled his Civic, no fault of his own, he had a seizure and thankfully no one was injured. I am thinking about getting XM for my wife's 2008 Civic.
Thanks, Brad

I concur. Sirius talks too much. I may as well be listening to free-FM. I hate DJ's who think we'd rather listen to their drivel than the music. If you want to be an artist, get in the studio and make something people want to hear otherwise SHUT UP and press play.

I've been a long time sirius subscriber. Unfortunately they haven't ever come close to the $77/yr deal XM was running. Right now I have a 1yr committment of XM in the Ridge and a 3 yr ($120/yr) Sirius in my Accord and am worried that come summer the company is going to be out of business. Due to the amount of debt that comes due in Feb many finance analysts are saying the company will not survive the spring.
