I spoke to a dealer earlier this week and he told me Honda has stopped production of the Ridgeline. Does anyone have any information regarding this? Is it temporary or permanent

Take a look at the following link. Sounds temporary to me, just adjusting to the economy and demand.

I was also told that production is making less RL this year.

The manufacturing process is being transferred from Canada to the US. Where the RL was being assembled is now being used to manufacture more civics. So in conjunction with the move, production has been stopped for a couple of months.

The dealer did not lie but did not tell you the whole story.

Search the ROC. The complete details is around here somewhere...

as usual, the dealer tells you what he thinks will make you buy today.

I heard, but don't quote me on this, the '09's are finished and '10 production will pick up at Alabama in June. But you know how rumors are...

I heard the 2010's will have the ability to FLY! When I bought mine the dealer did not have any new but said they could get me whatever I was looking for. I don't know if they were talking about a transfer or new production though.

They are the ones that told me the 2010 would fly as well:rolleyes:... They seemed pretty hard pressed for the sale. I bought used from a non Honda dealership, when I went back to get a key cut he asked me why I picked that one. I told him the deal I got on it and he said that he would of done the same thing. probably the most honest thing I have heard from a car dealer!

The salesguy at the dealer when I bought my '09 told me they were only making 900 for '09 .... right. little did he know the vehicle was already sold... stupid salesguys will lie to their mothers.

Easy for him to say that now that he knows you aren't buying from him.

Speaking of non-Honda dealerships ...

When I bought my used '08 in '08, I made the whole deal through e-mail and phone calls and just walked into the dealership to sign papers, drop off the trade-in and pick up the truck. They tried to pull the "well we can't give you the low price that you're asking PLUS the high value you want for your trade-in" but they could come within about $700 of the deal I wanted.

When they asked me if that would work and if I would be coming in, my response was, "Well, I might come in, but I think I'll give Carmax a chance at this offer on a black Ridgeline they have in inventory."

Ten minutes later they called me back and were willing to make the deal as I originally offered it.

I have a buddy who works at the Aliston, Ontario plant where the Ridgeline was originally made. He told me months ago that their plant was stopping making the Ridgeline in order to boost the civic manufacturing (already mentioned). They produced as many Ridges in a shorter time span so suppply would not be decreased before moving the production to the US. Any dealer that says otherwise is likely not informed or not telling the truth. As a Canadian, I wish they would keep production here.

I had the same issue. I actually bought the truck sight unseen as they had transferred it to another dealership. I did the whole haggling thing and got within $500 of what I told them I wanted in the first place. They promised it had a tow hitch, all the keys, an a luggage rack. When I went to test drive it and actually sign papers they had installed a trailer hitch, had the additional key cut, and went half on the cost of the luggage rack that was not installed. They were such a pain to deal with but the had the truck I wanted at a price that was good. They tried the haggling on me and I simply said that I had already waited 8 months to find the right truck and I do not mind waiting longer.
