Not that the Ridgeline is not fun to drive but I wanted a little more rush (got hit by a car on my motorcycle and wife/caregiver, after a 13 month recovery, will not approve another one ) so I got a S2000. This is about as much fun as you can have on four wheels. Thanks to you guys, I found our sister site S2Ki.com and they were very helpful.

I am delighted with this car and wanted to let people know a.k.a. bragging.:D

Nice choice to get the S2000! I've always thought the S2000 would be the perfect complement to the Ridgeline. RL for practicality, and S2000 for just pure sport. You're livin' my dream! Please keep us posted on how you like the S2k.

I've always thought the S2000 were one of the best and sexiest Hondas ever made. Of course I couldn't talk my wife into getting one and it's just as well, even with the top down, my head still poked two inches over the windshield.

i have had two s2000's and i loved driving them. I only used them for nice weather, spring thru fall, driving and it rocked. I only put about 4000k miles on year but they were the best 4000k miles ever. I think i will defintely own one again if something similar doesn't pop up before its time to buy (think 5or so years so who knows) but i couldnt beat the reliability and simplicity of them. let me see if i can find some pics of my cars. and post them.

I agree.. I would see them on the road or in the dealership and just look at them and say to myself.. "damn that is one great looking automobile". I never liked driving a manual and was just hoping for they day they made one in an automatic but the day never came.

The S2000 is the sweeeeeteeest car I have ever drive. I regret ever selling my 2003. Maybe some day I will be able to own an other.

As of right now, the S2000 is the next step in honda for me. I figure in a few years the boys will be out and me and the misses will be chillin. I cant wait. So I figure by my next move I should be enjoying the wind on my bald head.

The S2000 is indeed a fine sports car.

It may not cost you much more to get an NSX. Best time in years to buy one (just like many other high end sports cars).

How's the maintenance? I had a guy try to trade me one w/50k miles for my RL this week.

I had a red 05 S2k for about a year. Never had a problem with it, greatest shifting car I have ever owned that's for sure! I enjoyed it, but it seemed to always leave me wanting more so I traded it in on a Lotus Elise. WOW, now that was fun! Talk about EXTREME. The Lotus was very quick, unbelievable handling, and surpisingly reliable. That lasted for about 2 years and I just traded the Elise last year for a wakeboard boat 6 months ago. I love toys!

The NSX has a deserved reputation for high reliability. There are several with over 200K miles on them. Certain VIN ranges of 1991 models had a problem ("snap ring") with their transmissions but was covered as a warranty item. Otherwise the NSX needs a timing belt at typical intervals, plugs @ 60K, valve adjustments every 30K, and not much else. They go through rear tires rather quickly because of the rear toe in settings. I bought my 97 NSX in Nov. 2007 with 23K miles and I now have 41K miles. I replaced the TB/WP a year ago because of the age of the belt, not the miles. I drove it today.

Service can be somewhat expensive - some parts are a bit high - but you don't need them very often.

My s2000 was my easiest to maintain car ever. The oil changes had easy access. the rear diff is set up just like the ridge. easy change. As far as the trans, easy too. but you need to add a hose or hand pump to get the fluid up to the fill hole. harder than the first two but only a 30 minute job. I babied the hell out of mine in terms of maintenance and it rewarded me with zero problems.

Count me as jealous. I've recently become fascinated with the idea of buying an S2000 lately myself. Seems like it would be fun to have a racy little ragtop to drive on sunny Sunday afternoons.

Not really a sportscar guy but I have to admit to liking the looks of this. Sad they are shutting down it's production. I don't think I've ever actually seen a comercial for it so maybe that's why it's not a big seller (well that and it's a 2 seater that doesn't appeal to many to begin with). I'd take a blue one if money were no object.

Congrats on the the purchase. I have owned Jaguar's, Maserati's' and Porsche's and the S2000 is just as good. I just bought my second S, because I missed my 03. I use synthic oil and change it every 3700 miles and meet the 7500 mile checkups. If you follow the Honda maintenance plan you will not have a problem with maintenance on the S.

There is going to be a large S2000 meet in April at the Dragon (US129) and Fontana Dam. Check out S2ki.com for the details. They are usually in April and October, I have driven 3 different times. If you get to drive it you will really get the feel of the S. Also the web site has a weath of information available to you. Again, congradulations.

I live on a mile long dirt road. Don't let that stop you from having something that you would like to have. Life is to short, enjoy it.

This is my third S2k I bought 00 then traded for 03, sold it for a Maserati a big mistake. After the Florida S2k Super Meet last month I just had to have another, so purchased an 08 S2k-CR. I am so glad I did !!!!!!!!

I love the s2k, but with the way I drive it would definitely bite me in the ass as it has so many people. One of the resaons why insurance for them is higher than a corvette along with theft :(

I bought a used S2000 (2004) in June of 08. It only had 23k on it and it is Silver with the Red leather interior. It has the factory XM added (previous owner) but I wish it had the rollbar speakers. They are kinda pricey ($400 plus install).

I drove it all summer and put just under 3k on it. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can take it out and enjoy it this summer. The RL is still my daily driver so I can't complain.

Congrats Papa!! I am jealous.

The S2K is a fun car. I have owned a 98 Integra GS-R supercharged, Mini Cooper, 04 G35 Coupe and I must say the S2K was my pride and joy. Fun but definitely not practical, I traded her in for the RL when my daughter was on the way. ONly had it for 10 months. But I took advantage. I think I but 8K miles on her. When I went to buy it in 05 it was wrapped up in plastic, I had to wait for the dealer to do the 10 mile test and put fuses in before I could take her. I got it with 11 miles on the odometer. Here's a few pics of my baby 05 S2k: (It is always nice to share pics when we can)

As my name "Papa" implies I no longer have kids at home so I don't have to be practical. Besides the grandkids love for me to take them for a ride - one encourages me "go fast again Papa". Being old has it perks :D

it all depends on what you consider practical

I have an '03 Accord which is in excellent condition (68,000 miles), and I seriously considered buying an S2000 as a complement to the Accord. Decided on a Ridgeline instead, due to the practicality of the RL over an S2000. One of the things I noticed in shopping for an S2k is that many of the used ones have VERY few miles on them. Seems most folks who own then use them for weekend drives and put very few miles on them. And it seems the owners baby them like few other autos. I saw some S2ks that were 3-5 years old with VERY low miles and in pristine condition. Got to be one of the best used car values around. Especially is you want a wonderful sports car.

Welcome to the 2 honda family. I have the S2000-CR and Ridgeline. I enjoy driving both vehicles. I have friend that will tow his S on a trailor behind his Ridgeline, so that he can have both to drive as needed.
