We've seen dog pics (you'd see mine if I could figure out how to resize and post them) and some have gotten together at RL meets, but as another way to get to know each other, it'd be interesting to hear what we do to support our Ridge habit. :D

I am a business owner and graphics art designer. I make vinyl graphics, custom collectibles, yard greetings, etc. FUN stuff. I'm an assistant professor and epidemiologist in public health at the University of Utah School of Medicine, studying genetic and social factors in disease, mainly cancer and HIV/AIDS (odd mix, genetics and social factors). Part time, I teach skiing for fun.

My wife is a grossly underpaid special education/resource teacher (Utah! Lowest per pupil spending on education in the US! About 40% of what the highest spending state spends! WooHoo!!). Well, that's what you get when a taxpaying household averages 5 kids in the school system, I guess. Fertile state, Utah, and I don't mean the soil.

But hey, the skiing and mountain biking are good.

My store is Bogard Drug on Western Avenue, one of the less desirable areas of town. Even Walgreens has moved out of the area for safer climes.

The shortage of pharmacists nationwide, combined with our location has made it almost impossible to find anyone to work for me so that I may make the trip to Cleveland (and I could almost smell the West Side Market). Something about shootings and armed robberies that disuades relief pharmacists.

My "REAL" job is Pride Cleaners & Launderers. My mom and dad started it about 28 years ago with one location, and today we have six stores; (five coin laundries and one is just a drop-off store). We also do Dry Cleaning and Shirt service with starch. I went to College not knowing what I wanted to do...but I did just about everything from selling fireworks (the Indianapolis Colts' QB P. Manning purchased from me when he just started for Indy) to Smith Barney (broker). I graduated from Butler in 1999 (took me five years, but I did it!) and came back home to work in the family business (and give dad a much needed break, so he could take up golf fulltime).

Hey BamaRidge- You probably told me where to go many times when I was out there doing battle on the airways. I'm a pilot on leave from one of the bankrupt majors and I don't miss it one bit. It's sad that the industry has become such a miserable place to work.

Enjoy your retirement and your truck.

Sorry about your furlough Koopaindy. I hear you. If it was just flying and ATC, life would be grand. The union/management BS I can do without.

Thanks for the kind words Mr-J. But I will be more stressed out figuring out how to pay for the truck on retirement pay. Just kidding. Bama

That picture was about 3 or 4 years ago. 'The Yell Leader' Note: USC has Yell Leaders (Males) and Song Girls (Females) Was the first Female Yell Leader ever in USC history. She bugged me for 3 years prior to that picture to let her on the field with the guys and I always told her no way with a smile. She said one day she was going to be down there with me! I manage construction projects on streets and highways from cradle to grave; meaning I start with a consultant who does the design work and oversee every aspect of the project through construction until the "ribbon cutting".

My wife just received her PhD in Clinical Psychology and works at the University.

For fun (and for life), I am a father of two "Daddy's little girls". The oldest is 3.5 years old and the youngest is 5 months old.

For recreation we love to enjoy all types of outdoor activities, mostly up in the mountains. I also enjoy working on projects around the house.

All those posts I did about speed and such are from my education and experience of designing and building roads in a way to keep people as safe as possible. However, there are always those who no matter what you do will find a way to do something stupid.

I just rebuilt two roads near Keystone (north of I-80) last year: Putnam Drive and Wyoming Avenue.

I'm a home loan consultant. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who loves his job. Helping people with some of the most important financial decisions in their lives is really rewarding. Sometimes folks enter the process with worries and fears, and my challenge is to ease their concerns by showing them options that can put them in a much better financial position.

To many mortgage professionals it's just a job, but to me it's an opportunity to make a positive effect on people's lives. That's how I choose to see it, anyway, and it seems to be working out just fine for my clients and for me. :)

My partner volunteered as a CASA for two years { court appointed special advocate } He had one teenager who was a habitual juvenile delinquent and a brother and sister who's mother was more concerned about her next fix . They were later adopted by their foster parent and no longer need a casa .

A casa is there to make sure that the childs rights are not abused by the court or the parents or any one else, the hard part is to protect the child from their own selves . Their lives are so screwed up that they do not care about what happens to them, a casa is there to be there for them, period .

I may , when I retire at 50 ( I hope ) become a casa , I have a lot of patience and I am very good with kids , I also do not let them control the game .

U.S. Border Patrol 17.8 years. Paramedic for SRT unit. Assistant VP of my wifes company in charge of moving boxes and taking out the trash.
But my wife is the interesting one.
She sells makeup. For a company that drives Pink Cars. Shes an "Independant Sales Director" with Mary Kay. She makes more money than I do.
Her business is whats paying for my Ridgeline.
No kiding, Our aniversery she asks if I want to pickup my presant.
So we drive over in her vehicle, CRV. She said we needed it to cary my presant. Boy was I shocked. And amazed. And Thrilled. And everything.
A brand new white RTL with moon roof, XM radio, Electric everything, I've had it for 11 months and I still get that "Feeling" when I look at it.
We picked it up in June so I could drive it to Dallas in July for Seminar.
Yes, I love my wife. I'd love her almost as much if she hadn't bought me my Ridgeline. (just kiding).
Just TRY to top that one.

i started up my own business ( www.streetwerkzclothing.com ) shortly before quitting and ive been a lot more successful at that without the boss, than i was at honda. so i am one happy camper. it afforded me the luxury of buying a new truck and going back to my old dealership and rubbing it in. :D

After spending 7 years working as a financial analyst/programmer/engineer/consultant (all at the same time...oy) for UW Health, I gave it all up to start on my own in something completely different and to be with my family more. My main "job" is being a part-time stay at home daddy (boy 6, girl 1). Next would be my photography and marketing work for 120 (and growing!) local Realtors and Builders. Hmmm...next would be installing whole-house audio for a select few builders; next is teaching anything Microsoft at a local community college, and finally I help a neighbor with his INCREDIBLE Fantasy Football software during football pre-season. Wife is a Nurse Practitioner (trauma surgery) who just changed jobs to be a nursing instructor (RN).

Two years ago, I "retired" after 29.5 years at Verizon - lucky to get a buy out offer. Now I'm doing same thing as a contractor for an undisclosed US agency deep in the heart of the nation's capital (US, that is). This double dip allows me indulgences such as a RL.

I noticed many RL owners in the medical field. Lately, I've been wishing I were young again so I could be a doctor of human patients, who's systems seem much more fascinating than those of silicon.

I am a full time photographer (I actually got a BA for this) for a family run business. Westrich Photography, which celebrates 60 years in 2007.

I photograph people; weddings, business portraits, Family portraits, political fundraisers, business meetings, children, Saint Louis Parades and anything else people are involved in.

This includes photographing, Printing (both darkroom B&W and Large format Inkjet), Retouching, maintaining the computers, network and external storage(10+ terabytes on active drives and boxes of completed DVD's) and restoring damaged prints.

In college I was a CPO (Certified Pool Operator) in the pool maintenance business. I ran 10 pools with a staff of around 40 guards in North Saint Louis and helped maintain over 100 pools in the Saint Louis area for Midwest Pool Management.

Don't under-estimate your worth. Making boxes is obviously important for the business to be successful, otherwise you wouldn't need to do it. People with hot-shot jobs need other people to do the simple jobs. "Simple" jobs are as important as "cool" jobs.
