Sorry for the dumb question but I've only had my 06 RTL for 20 hours......
Where do I find the 4 prong trailer light connector contraption? I am shopping for the tailgate light bar and need to know where I can find the darn thing to plug into the light bar. Has anyone (using the connector, not hard wire) found a way to run their light bar without the running lights? I just want turn signals, hazard and brake function.
Thanks for any help. More SWAG questions to follow I'm sure.....
It's taped way up under the driver's side rear fender.
BUT...it has no power and is useless without first connecting a fairly expensive pigtail up under the dash and adding a relay. You would also need a pigtail to connect to the wiring under the fender. Do a search for trailer hitches here and you'll find some excellent reference material for what I'm talking about.

Easiest thing to do is order the 4 prong wiring kit online from autoanything.com Its easy to install as it connects to the existing wiring going to each taillight. You will have to splice into the reverse light wire which is the green one with a black line to get the bar to light up white in reverse. Make sure you mount the bar all the way to the front edge or your tailgate will smash the bar when you lower it. I put mine on about a week ago and spliced a separate 4 prong into the wiring so I still have my original 4 prong by the receiver of my hitch. You can pick up the 4 prong adapter at any auto parts store. The light bar looks awesome! My son thinks the truck is a TRANSFORMER with the light. Congrats on buying your Ridge!

OK..........I think you are suggesting instead of playing around with the underdash stuff going with the 4 prong wiring kit and splicing is the way to go.
Two questions:
1. When you say mount the bar all the way to the front edge are you referring to the black bedliner lip that "hangs down"? Or are you referring to the painted part just under the bed liner?
2. Like I said in my other post I'm not crazy about splicing but it seems better that the first answer (solution) on the thread. Reverse (green & black stripe wire) and brake are pretty easy, but do I have to splice into both tailights for the turn signal action? And where does the ground from the kit get attached?
Thanks for any help. I just want to do this right and not do it over............

I'm subscribing to this post. I was researching how to install LOF but backed off once I saw how much additional cost and time was involved. maybe.....not....

Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill :)
I've seen some beautiful RLs and already have read some great hints and advice on this site.
I just got the RTL yesterday and am working to have it the way I want. Maybe I should just kick back and enjoy the truck without trying to do everything at once.

zat,
We share similar philosophies about our RLs. I accessorize my RL based on functionality, first, and then aesthetics, second.
But I saw Rusty's RL at the Sedona V meet when meeting for dinner at twilight.
It really caught my eye!

Away from the bed liner. As for ground, when you get the wiring kit you will mount the ground wire under the bed towards the bumper. The ground for the light bar is wired in to the 4 prong . If you use the wiring kit the only splice will be reverse. The turn, brake and running light are all supplied from the wiring kit because it is connected to the taillights, thus when you connect the 4 prong from your LOF to the 4 prong from the wiring kit you get the same signal from the tailights.

When I saw post # 2 on this thread I think I panicked. I know the RLs have the harness but there was never a hitch installed on mine. Post #2 made me think the harness is there but "inactive", and I need to plug the light bar 4 prong into the wiring kit 4 prong and splice into wiring. The splice into wiring (and what wire to what) is giving me a brain fa*t. Am I on the right track? I'd hate to do something and screw up a truck I've had for 28 hours:D
Either way, THANKS for trying to guide me with advice. This is uncharted waters for me and it has me confused..........
