I though I would start a thread of my install. I have wanted to upgrade since I bought the truck.
I know very little of how to install or about mobile electronics. I just want it to sound great.:)
I have been afraid to post or ask questions, since I know little, but I want to learn.
I also like to DIY since it is fun and you save money.
DIY is hard though when you have little time to spend on extra projects, so this project will be work in progress and will take sometime.

I also plan to sound proof the truck. I am getting ahead of myself again. Install first!;)

Here are some threads that I used for reference and will refer to on my install.

did the above last year and paid cc to do.

I also have great info from Crutchfield.

Here are the units I am installing:
Kenwood KSC-SW10 powered subwoofer
Pioneer ND-BC2- back up camera
Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD- head unit
Pioneer CD-BTB200- blue tooth

I have purchased from Crutchfield and ebay.

I am planning on learning how to soder(sp?) tomorrow, to start the prep of the wiring.

I decided to have someone install. The price was too good, by a local shop. Quoted me $180 to do everything.

I know it will be done right, I just don't have the extra time to tackle this job. I have too much at work and yard work to catch up.

I have it scheduled for next Friday.;):)

are you going to by-pass the head unit so you can watch movies with out the truck in park? i heard with Pioneer its hard to by-pass, its not like Kenwood or Jensen where you can just ground the parking brake wire

The tech did it for me. I first only went to him to connect the pioneer harness to the Honda harness, because I wanted to do the install myself.
He came out from the back and started explaining what he did. He said he disconnected that feature, so the DVD would play all the time.
He quote me sure a great price on the entire install, I decided to have it done by him. It would have taken me a long time to do.
I figured I saved a lot of money on the equipment, so I can spend it on the back end on the install.
I am buried with work at home and at work. It is also hot/humid as hell here now.
I don't plan on watching movies when I drive, this will be good for my sons when they drive with me.
I was more interested in being able to connect a back up camera to it.

1. function menu doesn't work on the pioneer blue tooth. It is faded grey color on the screen? Won't let me select it? advanced optons don't work on the touch screen.
I can connect to the bluetooth by connecting thur the phone, but don't have any advanced functions on the unit

2.DVD video doesn't display? I have sound(audio) but no picture?

thanks again

Make sure either you have the parking brake set, or ground the parking brake wire coming from the Pioneer.

Of course, you aren't supposed to watch DVDs while driving, but I have done it to mine, so my daughter can watch from the back.

Also, for some reason, you also aren't supposed to set up BT functions while driving, but those steps will work for the BT, as well.

I have been parked for both? I even applied the parking brake. I should tried everything before leaving, but was ina hurry to get back to work. I am going back Monday.;)

1. I assume that you paired your phone to the HU, because you said that the audio works through the HU. Bluetooth is a standard, but only so far as connecting devices in a network goes. Anything above and beyond connecting has to be written in software. If there is one achiile's heel of Bluetooth, it's that it is so wide open that compatiility betwen devices is left to the device manufacturer. Your cellphone may not have the ability to manage certain features through your HU. Did you check Pioneer's cellphone compatibility list for the HU or Bluetooth adapter? I don't know much about Pioneer HU's but Kenwood lists the cellphones their adapter supports and what functional features are available on each. I bet your cellphone is not on the list, or it is on the list as capable of basic connectivity only.

2. If the truck was in park and the parking brake was on, then this doesn't seem like a bypass issue. Does your Pioneer have a Video Select function? My Kenwood does. The V. Sel. has to be on "DVD" and the main function does as well. If one or the other is not, then I will get video with no audio, or vice versa.

Good luck.

1. Yes phone is paired with the BT adapter. Phone will work with the BT adapter, but don't get the extra features on the head unit. Only get phone number that is calling in, green phone, red phone for hanging up. the functions button on the menu is shaded Grey, unable to select this?
2. I look at DVD again, still no picture? I'm going back to installer tomorrow. He's going to take a look.

I love the HD radio and rear view camera is great. The rear view will even work while driving. I don't like to keep it on though. It is too big a distraction.

Some other concerns I found today.

Steering wheel control: Channel up/down does not go to next preset. It acts like a seek, goes to a weak station
also presets on the display, don't list station. It just says P1, P2. It looks like it should say it on the display?

I ordered the ipod adapter also. ;)

Sounds like the installer did not connect the parking brake wire.

The symptoms you describe are exactly what my Pioneer does if that wire is disconnected.

I got it back from the installer today. Both are working great now. He bypassed the parking brake wire, but needed a relay attached to make everything work.
I will post pics soon, very happy!!!:)
