I plan to install the running boards myself but it needs a special tool to install a threaded rivet nut. They have a picture of it in the install docs:

Unfortunately I've yet to find it at local hardware store or on the net. If anyone knows exactly what you call this tool or where to get it I'd sure appreciate it.

Vertrkr,
Try someplace like MSC, or Graingers, lloking at it, looks like you mayy even be able to improvize, with a home made tool. These are easier than the others I have seen.

Metric thread setter for nutserts is what my is called from a Snap-On kit, but it came with a Snap-On price. Check at local independent tool retailers in your area. Once you have it and are ready to use it. Pay caution to the set up directions, to not snap off the mandrel inside the nutsert you are installing, or you will not be very happy. "The Voice of Experience", just take your time installing them and everything will be easy.

Wow, thanks all. I really did not expect anyone to know what I was talking about. Most helpful.

Vertrkr,
Harbor Freight has tool for this, and it is only $12.00, if the bolt size fits.
you can see it at this link.

Hope this helps, if not since only 2 of the nuts need this tool, I would find a garage that has it, and give a $10.00 to install the 2 of them for me.

Excellent, thanks a bunch all. Guess I was thrown off track as nothing I saw looked like the tool in the install docs. Just need a rivet tool that installs threaded nuts, seems there's a variety of these of all shapes and types. Found a specialized tool shop in my area so I'm going to wait until I have the rivet nut and then bring it in to be sure I get the right tool that will fit it. If nothing else I'll fall back to plan B, piece of wood and my sledge hammer :)
