Head Unit

Anyone have experience with replacing the factory head unit?
I'm looking at replacing mine with perhaps some Pioneer or Polk Audio model.

What are some good models with I-Pod, Cd, etc...?

I just put in an Alpine W505 in my other car. It charges and controls the second generation iPod Touch I have hooked up to it. Full speed, by the way. If you're going for navigation, however, Alpine decks suck. If navigation is important go with a brand that has Garmin. Haven't really been paying attention to the news lately, but someone told me GPS's are being banned?? Not sure what it's all about. Yes, I have been living in a cave for the last little while. Anyway, haven't posted in here for quite some time.

Any opinion on Pioneer Premier FH-P800BT? Costs 350$

I instaleld an Alpine 9886 HU last year when I got the RL. The HU has xm, iPod, USB and plays CD's (mp3/wma/aac). The sound is great even with stock speakers. I love this deck and wouldn't trade it for anything!

Install only took a couple hours. Hardest part was getting the dash apart for the first time. I put the xm antenna on the center of the dash by the window. Works perfect and no wires needed to be run all over the place. I ran the antenna wire through the back of the little plastic cover by the front window. The xm receiver parts are attached with some heavy double sided tape to the air vent behind the HU. The USB and iPod cables are run to the glove box.

I don't care about navigation because I usually know where I'm going. Plus it's free to print out a map from mapquest or stop at a gas station and get a free state map if needed. :)

I got the pioneer Z1. In my ridge and just put a AVH p3100 in my accord. I will take a picture of that one later and post. Definitley cant complain about either of them. They are perfect.

I would to see pics of the AVH p3100 in the accord. I probably would like to get the navigation incorporated--does Pioneer make a model with NAVI?

I mounted my Sirius antenna in the same place and it works great. Don't have to worry about the antenna moving around and scratching the paint. Nice clean install......

I will get that picture for you tomorrow. Also the p4100 may have the nav with it. Definitley check out amazon. they have good prices.
