Gas is $1.05 per litre, down from the Katrina high of $1.40. Still works out to almost $4 per gallon. :(

It was $2.53 at midnight - haven't been out since then. 'I feel bad for feeling good' [1] about that price but at least it's going down and not up.

I live in Manchester, CT and there are stations down the street, a Citgo and a Texaco, apparently in a gas war. The price have dropped in the last week from 2.79 to 2.51!! Keep warring guys!:D

In Lexington MA there is a Gulf dealer selling for 2.56, across the street was a Mobile at 2.59 which is where I bought my gas, I have a mobile speed pass so it is laziness and a little trust that goes in there too. The gas around my house has been going down steadily for the last few weeks, I think that the closest station is down to 2.63 now.

In Central VA, I paid $2.79 last weekend and it dropped to $2.59 the very next day. I'll have to improve my timing a bit. But isn't it a little shocking how good $2.59 feels after hitting $3.30+?

Metropolitan Portland area prices are from $2.519 into the $2.60s.

Joz Ridg, That is hilarious...thanks for the laugh. wish someone could print that up as a poster (you know, huge), in the middle of the night, place it over the real price poster. I'm sure that would get a startled second look the next day!!:d

We must be...I paid $2.89 this morning (regular).....with it dropping three cents later in the day. So it's still pretty high here

Two weeks ago in the northwest part of the state near Kingman (AZ) I paid $2.65. There's even a local thief still charging $3.05!

But on a positive note :D I got the best mileage out this last tank, averaging 19.67 mpg. And I believe it had a lot to do with the tire pressure. They were low and this is the first full tank with better inflated tires....also the second tank over 19 since my first oil change.

Real shock was when I went to buy oil for first oil change. $6 per quart of Mobil 1. Maybe I am in a time warp, but wasn't this around $3 just last year. Now you know this quart of oil did not come out of the ground yesterday so someone is getting rich selling inventory.

Are they getting synthetic out of the ground now? $4 a quart here in 5-qt container.

Part of the point of synthetic is that it does not come out of the ground.

For years the Cheapest gas has been in the Southeast. Now it seems as if the most expensive gas is in the southeast. In my area the lowest is 2.59. And that's at the "Crappy Gas Company". I take several tips to Seattle each year. In the past the gas was much more expensivein Seattle. Usually by about 20-30 cents. On my most recent trip I notice that gas is 5-10 more expensive in Alabama than in Seattle. Based on some of these posts; gas is well below 2.50. Not complaining .. Just used to cheap Gas. I miss the days when gas over 1 dollar was horrible. Which was not that long ago.

WhiteRL, I think the reason for that is our source of fuel. The price differential swap started about the time of the hurricanes. The majority of our oil comes out of the Alaska system, where most of yours is from the Gulf, so our supply was not affected like yours was. For us, it's nice to be on the lower side for a change.

I was in Maine on Saturday (during the snow in MA but nothing in ME), and on the turnpike it was 2.29, which was a full $0.20 cheaper than it was in MA when I left. Yesterday I saw 2.28 in MA at a little mom-pop shop driving home through Cambridge. And it is now $2.39 near my house. So they keep falling. Although apparently the trend will reverse in two weeks to nail us during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Isn't that the biggest crock? Like the oil companies haven't had large enough profits this year already. RECORD BREAKING profits, so hey, let's up the price and screw the holiday travelers more
