I bought a bug deflector from Lenny and installed it this afternoon.

I read through the instructions and laid everything out before I started installing it. One of the things the instructions did not make clear was that the two outer supports had threaded nuts welded but they weren't pointed out in the instruction book. It took me a couple of minutes to sort out where they were to go.

I then washed the hood and measured (twice) for the center support and used a fine tipped dry erase marker to make my reference points on the hood. The first pic shows the marks and the protective tape installed.

Here is the center support reference marks.

Per the instructions, the outer portions of the gasket are to be loosed and the screw tabs installed so the brackets can be fastened to the hood.

The other tabs nstall beneath the gasket.

Part 2

Next comes installation of the bracket supports, these will fit under the rubber hood gasket.

Part 3

Before installing the deflector I waxed the hood that would be covered by the bug deflector.

There is a center bracket that is not shown in this photo - this bracket is not screwed into the hood as the others. I held it in place with some masking tape until the deflector was fully installed.

edited to add. . . I left the brackets loose and didn't finish tightening the screw into the hood until I had the deflector on. This allowed me to move and adjust the brackets as I put fastened the deflector to them.

The finished product

To those of you interested in the bug deflector I recommend that you look at the Lund unit. Less than 1/2 the price Honda quoted me, no "brackets", EASY and cleaner install, IMHO. For what it's worth.
