Hi, I just purchased an '08 Ridge RTL a few weeks back and now I have begun planning my stereo installation. For the dash speakers, I am wondering if anybody put in anything larger than the 1 inch tweeter? I was thinking of trying to modify the dash to get a 3.5 or a 4 inch mid in there. That way I can put the tweeters in the sail panels. I will also have a set of coax's in the door, or maybe another set of components. 1 set of components isnt enough front end for me. ;) Thanks guys

Erik

There's room to do what you are proposing, but you'd have to pull the windshield, and there is a steel tube cage that forms the structural part of the dash that you'd have to work around. Pull the dash cover and instrument panel and look for yourself. Not impossible but not easy.

Thank you BIGGUY.

Shovelhd, I have seen your thread and it was quite an install you did. Good work! :)

Sounds like I need to get in there and take a look. Not really looking forward to pulling the windshield though. I guess you really do need to put the time in to get exactly what you want. It could really be over my head.

You think theres no way to get it done with just pulling the dash?

I won't say you can't, but I won't say you can, either.

Search around for some pics by mugen1. He put Morel mids in modified A-pillar covers. It's by far the nicest installation I've seen on this forum. I think you'd have a lot easier time doing that than cutting up your dash, and gain the benefit of a point-source location that can be aimed, versus firing up into the windshield.

I dug around for you and found the link of mugen1's A-pillar installation. This is from the shop that did the work for him.

Thank you for finding this. The pillars look fabulous. Obviously its more than my skill can handle though. Now I just need to find someone in Atlanta that can do it. If you don't mind I'd like to bounce some things off in the future since you have a good understanding of the truck :)
