Looking for good running boards/bars

Hi everyone.

I'm about 24 hrs away from delivery of my Ridgeline here in beautiful (OK I lie, the weather has sucked the past couple of days) Maple Ridge, British Columbia-a suburb of Vancouver. I've owned Hondas for 31 years now so making the Ridgeline my first truck was a no brainer, especially after driving one...couldn't believe I was driving a truck!

First of all I want to thank all of you for having this great forum. I have been lurking here for a while learning more about this truck from your discusions than I ever could have from any 2 or 3 reviews.

Now on to my question...

I went for the base model and got a pretty good deal through Honda Canada interest incentives (1.9% over 48 months) an excellent trade-in value for my 2001 Accord and good discount beyond that. Honda does have some options that I would like but their accessory prices are ridiculous.

Luckily we have a pretty good chain of stores here in BC selling after-market truck accesories named Cap-it. Here's a link to them so you can see what they carry: http://www.cap-it.com/

The one thing I want to get immediately is some type of running board/step bar thing to healp haul this old body up and down easier. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could take a look at what they sell and recommend something based on your experience.

Or, if you're from this area you might know of other palces I could shop. One thing though: due to a bad back and knees I'm not much of a DIYer any more. One of the things I like about Cap-it is that they install what they sell.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to continuing to pick your collective brains for years to come :)

Just go talk to them, I'm sure they know what will fit. After taking a quick look at their catalog, I can tell you they carry Westin bars and Westin does make a simple bolt on side bars. Personally I would go with Romik over Westin as I believe their mounting brackets are a lot beefier.

If I were you (and you wanted side bars, I'm not interested in running boards so I didn't look to closely at those offerings) I would ask the shop if they could order you some Romik side bars. Or one of our sponsors has them on special right now, order from here and have them installed local: http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=ridge_rom_tube_06_u

Or you can go with OEM and have the dealer do it...

I went with Westin running boards to make it easier for the little wifey to get in and out, I had them installed by the folks that sold them to me (altho after watching them do it and realizing how easy it was I kicked myself), they've been on over a year and we're still happy with them.

Well, as it turned out my choices were more limited than I thought for the black bar I wanted...it was Aries or Aries :)

Looks good and feels sturdy.
