Hello ROC Members:
Question for all.

I have a 2008 RTS with Honda factory 6-CD XM Ready Stereo. I currently have the iPod interface unit installed, (Unit that H and A and Crutchfield offers). All works great. I am interested in having XM Satellite added to the mix, but uncertain of which path to take. H and A offers an XM receiver kit for roughly $230, and some threads mention the option of getting XM through the iPOD unit I already have installed. Please offer your suggestions.
Thanks,
WiROC.

The most cost effective option here is to go with an aftermarket XM receiver and run it through your iPod adapter (assuming you have the USA Spec).

I ordered my sirius adapter from crutchfield and the whole installation took about 20 minutes to do. Its controlled through the factory XM radio controls. I didnt put a unit in the glove compartment for the sirius.... I also mounted the antenna in the inside of the windsheild and buried the wires in the crease between the glass and the dash..........

I used the USA SPEC Ipod adapter with the aux input. I went aftermarket with my XM radio. I mounted the receiver in the cup holder with a ram mount. I mounted the antenna on the corner of the hood (where the VIN is). Works great, even in my garage.

If you want pics, let me know.

Looks like the way to go is through my USA Spec iPod adaptor. With that understanding, I still have a couple more questions:
1. Connect to the RCA inputs on the USA Spec Ipod unit?
2. The aftermarket unit, is that one of the small XM/Sirius satellite screen receiver display units that gets mounted on the dash? They are approximately 2"-3" tall x 4"-6" wide?

Again, I appreciate all your input.

Where to mount the unit is purely a matter of personal preference. Take a look at the ProClip for a clean option for installing on the dash.

I have the center mount setup for my iPod and I love it. The dimensions of the XM unit might make this one difficult, so take a look at the angled mount.

Another option is to use the search function and see where others have hidden their XM units. I've seen them tucked into the sunglasses holder, the Not an Ashtray, and even the flip down cover under the stereo. All depends on the dimensions and your creativity.

For running the audio into your stereo, the RCA inputs on your USA Spec iPod adapter are the way to go. Pickup a patch cable to plug the XM radios headphone output into the RCA's and figure out your path for hiding the wiring.
