Sorry to plow old ground, but I have read old posts until I'm cross eyed and still need current wisdom from you all. I have had my Ridgeline for about a year and am finally getting to do a few things to it. Finally settled on a
Bakflip HD and want to be able to lock the tailgate. So as far as I can tell my choices are Dynolock at about $125 and PopLock at $90+ and then on older threads a do it my self version at less than $25. All comments welcome. I know if you can do it for $25 why am I asking? Well I'm not real talented that way for one. Next question, did the anyone ever solve the how to tap into the trunk wiring so that the run up to the door lock was eliminated. Sorry for the length. This is a great forum. Hopefully at some point I will be able to contribute something of value. Mike

gotbass, you're right, there are several good options for a tailgate lock. I first used a cheapo lock (see this thread... http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20881&highlight=tailgate+lock). Worked great. But I wanted something more OEM looking, so I bought the Pop 'n Lock. LOVE it. It look like it came from the factory. Fairly easy to install, too. (See Pop 'n Lock installation threads.)

Tcape needs the best possible lock to contain the alien fungi that are living under his tonneau cover! (I've seen the Pop'n'Lock & like the appearance, although I don't need a tailgate lock, since I don't have a bed cover & haven't been bothered with spores so far.)

Welcome to ROC.

Like Tcape, I too have a Pop n Lock. I have the black one that looks like it was made with the truck. They also make them in Silver and White for the Ridgeline. I don't use it often so i just went with the manual non-electric version.

The manual lock Installation was pretty straight forward. However, I'd look at Tcape's installation thread because there is a big time saving tip for reassembling the tailgate cap (see #12 by RRider on that thread). This tip can be used for any lock you go with.

I recently purchased a 2009 ridgeline RTL back in June and the fact that the tailgate didn't lock was almost a dealbreaker for me. I am a casual truck user and it's better for me to have it covered and locked 90% of the time, but i still love having the versatility of the truck bed.

Since i purchased the model with navigation and rear camera which is built into the tailgate handle (works great btw), I was limited in my options since I could not use a pop 'n lock.

Searching the internet I found the dynolock. I called and spoke with Jim, the owner and he was very helpful and friendly. I finally ordered the dynolock and could not have been happier with the results. he even gave me a courtesy discount, when it came up that i was a struggling medical student! i have a hard ExCover and a lockable tailgate now that is tied into the remote keyless entry. When the rear doors lock/unlock, so does the tailgate.

I did pay to have someone install it for me though because I didn't quite have the time or expertise necessary. I understand it can take several hours, but the end result was well worth it!!! :). And if you are a little more mod savvy and have a free Saturday, then it probably wouldn't be a big deal to install it yourself.

Sorry for the long response, but i hope it helps whatever you decide!
