Hello fellow Ridgeline owners. I've been lurking around here for awhile and picking up lots of good info on my truck. I did want to post to talk about a recent purchase of a Bakflip G2 I bought on ebay. I won't go into the dealer I purchased from but did want to explain my experience. I got a pretty good deal on the unit and received it very promply 3 days later. I unboxed and began installing it. My first complaint was that the wing nuts they supplied to secure it were too large for the front bolts as they hit the area where the down tubes were installed...I had to file the ends of them down a bit, but managed to get them secured. After unfolding the cover all of the way back to the tailgate I noticed an unpainted area on the right side. It appears that during the manufacturing process they used a grinder to remove any rough edges and ground some of the paint off. But they never went back and repainted over the exposed metal edge trim.
I called them the next day and explained my 2 issues with them. They immediately got Bakflip on the phone and I asked if I could have 2 smaller wing nuts sent to me and the promptly said they would. I also explained the paint issue and they said the only thing I could do is to purchase some spray paint and cover the exposed area. Well to say the least I wasn't very happy with that solution. I asked about their quality control and how this went out of their facility in this condition. The rep apologized and said that was all they could do. So I guess I have to accept it.
3 days later my wing nuts showed up in the mail...get this....they were exactly the same nuts they had sent me before only the ground the ends down to make them smaller...nice huh!!
I know alot of you owners have the G2 and are very pleased with it. I think the product is a good idea, but their quality and customer service really leaves something to be desired. I should not have to spend 700 dollars on an aftermarket product and then have to finish painting it myself. They should have offered to have it shipped back to them and send me a new one. I'll finish my rant now, but I just wanted to let off some steam.

First, Welcome to ROC!

Sorry to hear about your issues with the consumer services. My only suggestion is calling BakFlip directly and request an exchange (for a painted one). Maybe you'll get a different person that will accept an exchange through the mail.

Try talking to Julian at bakflip. Julian has posted on the site a few times and is one of the reps at bakflip. dial (818) 365-9000 and use ext. 17. Make sure you explain the situation and add the fact that you are apart of the Ridgliners Owners Club. Ya gotta use the power of the ROC to your advantage.

Thanks for the replies and the contact info. I masked and taped the entire rear edge and painted over it last night. I have a pretty good match and you'd have to look pretty close to see a difference between the other panels.
