infinity 6022si or polk db651s speakers?
I have read treads here and the infinity's seem to be the popular choice. I have an RTL with factory subwoofer and do not plan to amp the speakers maybe later just amp a custom box using the factory sub high level output but not until after I replace the factory speakers.
I was going to pull the trigger on the infinity's based on the price but now I noticed the polks are on sale and only $5.00 more than the infinitys and I am undecided as to what brand I should get.
Here is what I know, the Frequency response is better in the low and upper range on the polks,(but may be insignificant or not being able to hear the difference) the sensitivity is 92db the infinitiys have 93 db and 2 ohms meaning more power at less volume with infinitys.
The polk appear to have good components to stay cool and handle abuse, they are marine certified and they seem to handle high max volume without distortion being loud enough for most users being amplified just from many Head units, based on reviews I read. I read that the polks provide a clean punchier midrange.
I hope to read some opinions here from many experienced experts and helpful members here. I tend to like cleaner clear natural sound and do prefer tight solid bass.
I also read that if having the factory sub, bass blockers should be used for the back speakers to have cleaner sound and bass.
Thanks in advance!

I guess I will just flip a coin. I did not mean to create confusion or start an argument but it seems that the opinion is reserved and personal.
There is a reason why infinitys are popular and good sellers, they are made to sound good with pop music, rock and music that most people listen to to provide an impressive sound.
As far as the polks, they are more for jazz, classical, acoustic piano and acoustic guitar solos where more detail is demanded and will sound good with most music, most users will not tell the difference listening to this type of music with either speaker, only people with critical ears might tell and at this price range, it may not be an issue to compare them.
I thought someone would have a technical explanation of why the infinitys was the popular choice for the ridge, maybe a better match with the HU or other technical issue. I read a lot here and and polk users seem satisfied without explaining why or giving reasons. The infinity users appear to be excited about the infinity sound but again without giving an description or explanation.
I hope this helps someone here to make the right choice and I did not mean to cause confusion or an argument. I guess save $10.00 on two pairs.
Make sure you brake them in for a few hours before you decide if you liked their sound or get the kenwoods and save $25 per pair.
Good Luck!

I don't think you can go wrong with either speaker. I like both brands.
I just had the 6022si installed in my 06 at Best Buy. I wanted to go with a speaker that I could get installed locally.
One thing I did in addition to purchasing the spearkers was to get Dynamat installed on the doors. I had Dynamat installed in the roof when the body shop had the headliner down for repairing some hail damage.
My next steps will be to install Dynamat (or similar) on the rear panel under the window and on the floor.

I agree in that you can't go wrong with either brand. I have been a loyal Polk fan since 1985 when I purchased their home monitors. I seriously considered Polks for my Ridgeline but ended up with the Infinities instead. They have a nice clean sound; detailed highs, liquid mids, and punchy mid-bass which some may confuse for actual lows (which it is not). As the Polks really offer almost similar sound I would just recommend purchasing the ones that are cheaper (in price) and use the savings towards the installation.
One last point: make sure you have enough power to drive these speakers. You are more likely to damage car speakers by underpowering them because of the high distortion levels from low wattage units. And don't rely on "total" or "max" wattage ratings.
Hope this helps some.

I have the Polk db651s and like them. Using them with OEM head unit for now, with a powered sub.

I'm also looking to upgrade my factory speakers, they really leave a lot to be desired. Sounds like you're good to go with the Polk or Infinity options.

Agree with everyone that either will be fine. I'm happy with my db651 Polks in all four doors.

What sub/box did you get? are you using all the power to drive the sub? did you have to some block bass to the polks to hear the sub better?

Dampen the doors inside and out.
Coverall openings in the inner door panel.
Use a thick MDF ring to mount the driver.
Remove those cups behind the driver.
