07_rtx 08-27-2009, 08:09 PM First off welcome to ROC! And I'm on a similar hunt for a bed mat for cheap every now and then one shows up on here for sale in the trading post. Good luck hunting one!

The price was right. I'll try to report more when I get it.
BIGGUY 08-28-2009, 07:59 AM Welcome to the ROC:cool: My brother is a carpet installer he cut me a peice of in/out door carpet that lays in there real nice;) And when it gets trashed he'll just cut me a new one:cool: Check your local carpet store you should be able to pick up a peice pretty cheap. And it can add some color to the bed.

HAHA, dog can't change their spots! :p
Effjay 08-28-2009, 03:21 PM I got something from Burtman Industries for under a hundred bucks, but I don't remember what brand it is (maybe Protectamat?). I'd go outside and look, but it's raining and, well, blah!
It's really heavy and keeps everything from sliding around. It also weighs down the trunk lid, so you'll have to hold the lid up manually or prop it.
If you don't see it on Burtman's website, give him a call and ask. He got mine to me in just a couple days.
FlaGuy509 08-28-2009, 03:26 PM Elemamat ( I think), $60.00 with free shipping, works great.
djeaux 08-28-2009, 03:28 PM Find a $15 used mat for a GMC/Chevy sportside and trim it down. Fits perfectly & the left over piece is exactly the side of the tailgate! ;)
Seriously, you'll probably not find a used Chevy mat, so I concur with the Elemmat recommendation.

At least not this dog. So "e", you need a bed mat?

I seriously doubt you could get the Elemmat for $60. Their price is $189 + shipping for just the bed mat, or $249 + shipping for the 3 piece, bed mat, tailgate cover and trunk mat.

The protecta bed mat can still be bought for under $60 + shipping from truck customizers.

I thought that sounded really cheap for the Elemat when I read it.
Because of price I'm leaning toward the Protecta Mat. Just how good does a bed mat need to be?

Joe, I have had both. The protecta mat was one of the first things I bought for my truck. I'm glad I did and would do it again. The only complaint some have had with the Protecta mat is that it is just slightly shorter than the bed. But with the tailgate closed it is just right...IMHO! It is a good heavy duty mat for the money.
The Elemmat is a fine mat, but is more than triple the price of the protecta mat. To me it seems to be slightly too long. It does come to the very edge of the bed at the tailgate, but when closing the tailgate mine curls up, and causes it to get caught under the tie down cleats making the trunk lid more difficult to lift open.
I would still be using the Protecta mat, but I won the Elemmat at the national meet in 2008.
Here's a pic of the protecta mat in my Ridgeline.

Looks more than adequate to me, Ralph. Especially since I don't do heavy hauling.
I wonder if there's enough interest to make for a successful Group Buy?
I just bought a Protecta mat a month or so ago. It's a nice, heavy weight mat and fits perfectly except, as already stated, it seems an inch or two short at the back end. Very happy with it, looks nice.
I read here that one (1) person had theirs blow out of the back of the truck, so I bought some heavy weight tarp clamps and connected them with zip ties through the tie downs in the front of the bed. I don't know if that would really stop a runaway (blow away) bed mat, but it'll slow it down.
JohnnyK 08-29-2009, 04:01 PM I recently picked up this mat for $80 incl shipping. Not much run-time with it yet but it fits great, looks great, and seems pretty heavy duty to me.

Edit: just noticed Rib's post above - the tie-down idea is a good one. It's hard to believe the mat could blow out but I read the same post.
meshr 08-29-2009, 06:39 PM I ordered from the partbin.com, out of stock, went to truckcandy.com, Got a Protecta in one day, with regular ground shipping, wow, fits and looks like a million bucks, price was about 70 dollars. Just flip it up for the trunk, thanks to all for help in locating one.:)
Tcape 08-29-2009, 07:41 PM The Protecta Mat was the first accessory I got for my Ridgeline. It's been wonderful, and I'd sure order it again if I needed to. Price was about $74, shipping and all. The Protecta Mat is a great, heavy duty mat, and I can't imagine needing one any better. After a year and a half of service, it still looks great. And I've hauled lots of stuff in the bed that could have easily scarred the bed. Mat has held up great. Two thumbs up.

Sorry guys, I've had the mat for almost 2 years and at my age all the brand names run together, it was a Protecta-Mat and it was $60 & change delivered. It's worked fine for me, never fluttered in the wind and to open the trunk I just flip it forward a bit.
